Can I start with the positives?...
A fabulous holiday, unfortunately though, only for one week. My wife and I took our 3 children, aged 3, 8 & 11 and it was ideal for all concerned. The pool area was lovely and kept the kids easily occupied during the days that we decided to lounge around the villa.
The villa had 3 bedrooms with additional sleeping facilities down stairs in the large lounge so there was plenty of space. Across the road was a nice quiet little bar with excellent service and a short walk took you to the local shop.
If there was any down side, which there probably would be to the more mature age group, then it would be the short but gravel road down to Hersonissos.
Now for the negative and a big NEGATIVE it was! The whole holiday, as I said was great until the last day. We had checked out and enjoyed the rest of the day on the beach, when we came to leave, we returned to the bar to collect our belongings where we were greeted by a very volatile manager who accused us of causing damage to the property and insisted on payment. Why would we return if this had been the case? Anyhow, after several exchanges of words we left with a huge shadow over our holiday, the event, deeply upsetting the rest of my family.
Inspite of this confrontation, I would still love to return to these villas again next year.

Please don't go here expecting luxury. The term Niriides Villa is a little misleading as it is actually a group of Villas.
Pictures in the First Choice brochure didn't really show the Villa we were in. We went with a group of 8 and the Villa we were allocated just was not big enough.
Standards of cleanliness and maintenance were poor. The views are not as described. To the rear of the property was what only could be described as a rubbish tip - to the front the town was just about visible - no coastline though.
Beware, it is quite a hike down a hill into the town and across what must the Cretan equivalent of the M25. Service provided by all concerned was shoddy, though we did eventually get given a second villa (which was also of a similar standard).
My honest advice would be to avoid.

This was by far one of the best holidays I have been on. The Villa was lovely and so clean a maid visited everyday. It was very quiet but with only a 5 minute walk to Hersonissos where you can find shops, cafes, bars, clubs and the nicest restaurants especially the Indian they have there!!
I would definitely recommend Hersonissos to teenagers as it is very lively and with only a 15 minute drive to Malia.
You should also definitely hire Quad Bikes for the day, they are so cool you can ride them on the road and go up in to the mountains as well.
Having a private pool was also wonderful and you were not over looked at all.
Will definitely go again!!

Villa was of a high standard, excellent views, lovely pool and pictures matched what was in the Thomson brochure. Owner was very friendly and helpful, maid and pool cleaner there every day.
Only downside was that there was no air con available in the downstairs bedroom, all the other bedrooms had it for an additional cost though, we found it a must have.
The main town is a few minutes walk away yet you are far enough away that there is no noise at night at all, not that we heard anyway.
All in all one of the best and most relaxing holidays I've ever had.
