Pela Maria Hotel

Me and my girlfriend had the misfortune to stay in this hell hole. We paid for all inclusive and were treated like 3rd rate citizens along with many other guests. The staff are rude apart from the barman in the lower bar who is truly exception and deserves to work in a much better place. The all inclusive food was terrible along with all the general service. The big manager is a joke and is rude to all inclusive guests but practially grovels to all the passing trade. To sum him up, he's rubbish at his job! Don't understand why they are still in business and tour operators should stop using this hotel unless they want to go bust aswell. Big mistake if anyone visits this dump.

The hotel was appalling! The food inedible so had to eat out at great cost!! The hotel staff well I only saw someone on the reception who was very rude to guests and a guy serving drinks who was rushed of his feet! The hotel was something out of the 50's only a small lift which only held 2 people so if you had a suitcase only one person could get in. (thats if it was working) it was always breaking down! They was a spiral staircase so if you have walking difficulties you have no chance!!! We arrived at 4am got into the lift went to your floor it was in darkness, you have to switch the lightswitch near the lift and run to your hotel room, it was a good job we had are mobile phones which we used as a touch!!!!

Trust me DO NOT go to this hotel, im not very good at writing things like this so ill be quick. The food is awfull you get the same food for breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. It never changed for the whole week we were there. The staff are rude (apart from the bartender at the lower bar) especially the woman in the so called restaraunt. there is no snack bar like it says on websites the rooms arn't to bad but the bathroom is so small i couldnt even wee right. We were flyin back at 0315 saturday they kicked us out of our room at 12.00 on the friday the hotel provided nowhere to have a shower and get changed so me and my girlfriend got changed in the filthy toilet for the bar, cheers for that pela maria hotel. To sum up lovley area crap hotel.

If you go here on all inclusive terms you are treated as though you are scrounging food and drink, they don`t think you have already paid, the way you are treated is absolutely awful, the inclusive food bears no resemblance to the food afforded to paying, passing trade, nor are the drinks, the staff attitude to you is terrible, I have never seen anything like it, you are left wondering why they do inclusives when they clearly don`t like it, but we know the answer to that dont we.

I stayed at this hotel at begining of June and I was impressed by amability of the staff working in Pela Maria hotel. iF YOU ARE and feel young go there with your family and friends, you won't regret ! many thanks to the chef and to bartenders! Fam OPRENA -Romania

We stayed all inclusive and the food was very limited and not varied at all. It was luke warm and one day we were offered egg and peas for breakfast! As per the previous review, desert was ice cream only. No snacks at all in between meals. The only good thing was the guy who worked behind the bar, but, once again, there was a limited choice with the drinks offered. We were humiliated on the last day by the restaurant manager and the receptionist who interrupted us during our last tea time meal and said we were not allowed to eat after 12 as we were leaving that day (but not being picked up until 7.30 that evening), yet no-one had told us that previously, they then proceeded to cut off our all inclusive wrist bands there and then in front of everybody! Anyway we weren't too bothered as the food wasnt that great anyway! The rooms were very basic and you had to pay a lot of money to use the fridge, the air conditioning and the safety deposit box. In a nutshell, the location was good, although could be a bit noisy for some people as our room was positioned on the main road side. I'm not a particularly fussy person but I will not return to this hotel.

Firstly, the food is very very poor, limited choice and very repetitive, Every hotel i have ever stayed in has a fruit basket as well as dessert, this offered chopped up apple with the same old ice cream... apalling!!!! No choice for children either. The menu in the snack bar looked great, so why are all inclusive guests not treated with the same standards??? Instead, mince very night, fish every night, it was the worst ever. All inclusive guests are made to feel like second class citizens and the people off the street get treat better. Michalis (the bar manager)has a major attitude problem, and was extremely rude to a few of us 'all inclusive guests'. The rest of the staff were fantastic, especially the man on the all inclusive bar, he was so pleasant all the time and works very very hard. We pay more for all inclusive so why treat us like second class citizens with a seperate bar and looked at and talked to like rubbish by the bar manager. I will not be back to the hotel and will not recomend it to anyone, I heard everyone complianing about the food, It could be a cracking little hotel due to the majority of your staff being so pleasant. Crete is beautiful, we will be back, but not to this hotel.

This autumn have been in Pela Maria hotel. The hotel is not new and need repairing in all. In two weeks of stay have killed 5 cockroaches in the bathroom and have seen little ants in the dining room. The food was good, not so variety, but taste. The nearest beaches is awfull, little line of the dirty sand with stones under the water. The better beach is 15-20 mints by walk is called "Star Beach", a bit cleaner and sands entrance to the water. Plus: The hotel is on the main road with a lot of shops, bars, disco, caffe near.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks in the summer 2006, and it was a bit of a miss. First I was given a tiny room near kitchen with poor AC, where I spent just a night. When I asked the staff if I could get another room, they refused ("we're fully loaded"), yet when, thankfully, a greek friend of mine did, suddenly there were options. You see how most of the staff (not all) treats you. The second room I got was large, but just by a swimming pool, so the rest of my stay was night-fighting with mosquitos (again, the conditioner didn't allow me close the windows). The hotel has a small pool in the yard, where I actually didn't even swim. The hotel is quite far from a good beach. The best in hersonissos, Star Beach is 15-20 min walking. Walking in the sun is not what you want to do. Still the hotel is on the main road, very close to bars and shops. THE BIG PROBLEM was the bathroom. Running water was hot only during the day, but in the morning and at night, it was bloody cold. Also they couldn't fix the light in the bathroom for a long stay. The cleanness of the room was not superb. I had only breakfast, which was rather OK though.

I worked one summer in this hotel. Kitchen workes are illegal Albanian slaves. When there is a shortage of water all bar glasses are rinsed in a sink , hundreds in the same water. Probably safe for wisky.
