Ideal location - not far from the bars, restaurants and beach shacks, but far enough not to be disturbed by them. It is not a 5 start resort, but it has all you will need on holiday, a pool, air conditioning, and friendly and trustworthy staff.
With all there is to see and do, you should not be spending time there other than to sleep! Baga is a short walk away. Baga has lots of high quality restaurants, try Titos for pizzas, lobsters and seafood, Goan food and much more, and a fine selection of international and local drinks, and cocktails, Citrus for the best vegetarian food you'll ever try, we went twice, J&A's little Italy, La Petit Francais (the chocolate pud is out of this world) and La Terrace, which are both run by bona fide French chefs.
Via taxi, try the Home Restaurant at Casa Titos, opposite the Saturday market in Arpora. Also highly recommend Mirabau, tucked away off the main road but a most fantastic ambience over 2 floors created by the owner Vasu which serves Italian, Chinese, Indian and Goan from a very extensive menu. Also recommend a little known Russian restaurant, small, quaint, but chicken wings that melt in the mouth, stroganoff and as for the pancakes - heaven.
Also worth paying a trip to experience a buffet lunch at the Marriot in Panjim, 600 rupees per person (less than £8), over 25 puddings never mind the starters, mains, salads, Indian and vegetarian selections. The Taj is also worth a visit, and if you want to eat on the beach, Zanzibar is very safe, and has the biggest prawns! Lucky Star also is safe and extremely cheap, with very friendly young boys, please tip them as they get no wages and have to sleep on the beach, as their families live hundreds of miles away and that is the only way they earn money.
The beach BBQs twice weekly are also worth trying, and the fireworks just add to the atmosphere. Also tried Lila cafe, where you can even get a fry up if you are missing home. For a lively end to the evening, it has to be Mambos, pool tables, dance floors, seating areas, a cocktail bar, and if you get peckish, at the side there is a bakery, Baskin Robbins ice cream and a noodle bar cooking to order, again safe as the cook is an employee of Mirabau. Kamakis (just up from Titos on Titos road) closes when there are no customers to be served, just in case you don't want the party to end!
If you want a day away, go to Pandolim, and go celeb spotting at La Plage, sister restaurant to La Petit Francais.
