" The most fantastic hotel I have been... "

The most fantastic hotel I have been too, in a seriously under rated city! I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to book direct with the hotel, and make full use of the spa - a sight in itself.

The sheer beauty of this hotel can best be described by the fact people go into the hotel to take pictures, it’s an attraction in itself - yet despite the grandness of it all, you feel like you own the place with incredible personal level service, and a very relaxed feeling - the layout gives the impression the hotel is very quiet, despite it very often being full.

The restaurants in Budapest are fantastic, the one in the hotel (deep water not the new York cafe) is very expensive, but you certainly get what you pay for, reception are brilliant at advising on where to eat and booking for you - even getting the manager to find you a seat when its fully booked.

Location - not an issue, nice 10 minute walk to the main two sites (10 mins in opposite directions so other locations provide access to only one of the two main areas).

" I stayed three nights at this hotel... "

I stayed three nights at this hotel as part of a 'love and romance' package. I had a few concerns before we arrived, one was snotty staff, and the other was an impersonal feeling which you find at so many top inner city hotels (Ritz, Savoy etc).

However, I was more than surprised to find every member of staff was polite, and seemed to want to do anything and everything to help and make your stay better. The hotel was not only the most beautiful I have ever seen, but the finest overall in every category I can think of.

The room was more like that of a junior suite, and the bathroom was something else altogether, the words huge, massive and stunning all come to mind. The spa was like a scene out of a James Bond film, and informal in the sense you felt like you owned the place. It was a fantastic place to relax, and it would have been tempting to spend the whole 4 days down there!

Examples of how good the service was are as follows - when we wanted to go to a certain restaurant, reception phoned to discover it was fully booked, they persisted by speaking to the manager and had a table specially arranged for us by the window overlooking St Stevens Palace - we also got a free starter just because we were from the New York Palace and were treated like royalty.

At the Hotels restaurant - one meal was included in the package, and you had choice of any three items off the menu (not a fixed menu). Not only was the food like that of Gordon Ramsey at the Claridges, but the waiter, after hearing us mention we were going to the bar after, not only reserved us a table without asking, but walked us up there to ensure we had a table.

The porters on the door made a point of talking to us every time we went in or out, always giving us recommendations, and very often taking us to the reception to ensure what we were going to do was pre-booked and at the best rate and on the best tables making you feel like royalty.

On arrival they allowed us to check in at 10am! and on our last day we checked out at 12, had they been less busy we could have left later. On the second day my girlfriend broke the shower head, making water leak slightly out the side- hardly noticeable. On return from lunch, the maids had noticed it, and had the whole head replaced, without even mentioning it.

If anyone wants to go I recommend the following restaurants to eat at - Whitehaven (fantastic food, and at 10 it turns into an exclusive cocktail bar - we had a live singer who was brilliant), Spoon - on a fixed boat, again fantastic food and views. The hotel’s restaurant is fantastic, but very pricey if not part of the package.

The city is beautiful, and everything can be seen in 4 days, we flew by easyjet, they were awful. This hotel was better than any I have stayed at including London’s Ritz, Savoy, Claridges, Hilton Park Lane, Paris - four seasons, and many others.
