Suede St Germain Hotel

We stayed one night in July in Room 3. The room had a double (maybe queen) size bed and an ample-size sofa bed. I believe it was referred to as a suite or a family room. On the upside - the room was clean and the bathroom was very clean and modern. On the downside - the room was very cramped once the sofabed was opened, there was absolutely no view and the water pressure int he sink was so strong that turning the faucet on resulted in lots of spray and wet clothes. We spend one night at the Hotel de Suede on Rue Vaneau in mid-June. Our trip to Paris was a last minute decision, and we only had a couple of travel books that were a few years old to help us in selecting a hotel. Because a few other hotels that we called were full, we settled on the Hotel de Suede. I agree with many of the comments that are listed below. The single room reservation meant a room that was like a youth hostel - tiny closet like room with old furniture that could be found on the street, cracked plaster in bathroom. I was shown 4 rooms like that. The distraught receptionist who agreed with the embarassing conditions finally showed me a 'premiere' room with double bed and window, and bathroom that was recently remodeled, where I stayed for 3 nights. Good Hotel, we have stayed there twice. We will probably stay there on our next visit to Paris. Staff was very helpful on both our visits.

My family, including myself and my wife, 2 children and their grandmother stayed at this excellent hotel for a week in September. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a junior suite, due in part, to the size of our group and the length of stay. Room was wonderful, large and quiet. Loved staying at this hotel - another great choice from lastminute.com. Location was very central and the staff were friendly and spoke very good English. The room was clean, bed and pillows were comfortable, and best of all we had a balcony over looking the street and a small park. Very pleasant surprise. Breakfast was basic but was delivered free to the rooms which was an added bonus when we woke late for the Eurostar and had packing to do. Summary: more expensive, less cute Review: We left this hotel after one night. When we arrived, they showed us a couple of "superior" rooms for 160 euros which were small and uncharming. One reeked of fresh paint. We didn't find either one acceptable. We finally settled into the newly renovated "Junior Suite" which looks over industrial fans (which go on and off all night) into a green latice fence which surrounds the garden of the prime minister's residence. We made reservations months in advance for the suite. When we arrived we were told we could not have it till tomorrow. We were given a dump of a room with twin beds. Not what we wanted. We were told all would be well tomorrow. The next day we were given the same story . We left, never to return. Tell every one do not trust them.

This is a lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Although the rooms are small (typical for Paris I think) they are well enough appointed and very quiet. The metro is only a 5 minute walk and the hotel is well locted on very quiet street and within walking distance of many places in St. Germain, the Luxembourg Gardens and the Invalides.

Just returned from a week spent at this hotel. The location is really great, the staff is top rate, and the rooms were definitely above average for the price and location. The hotel is located on a quiet side street (Rue Vaneau) between Rue Varenne and Rue Babylone. On either of these, it's a quick walk to Blvd. St. Germain and lots of great restaurants, shops, etc. It's also walking distance to Pont Alexandre, Les Invalides, Musee D'Orsay, the Rodin Museum and a few metro stations(all within 6 blocks).
