Splendid Etoile Hotel

Wife and I spent 8 days last week of May 2006 at the Splendid. Chose the hotel after reading numerous reviews on this site and others. Our first visit to Paris, usually go every other year to mainland Italy or its two large islands. All was perfect, received upgraded room immediately, large bright room with two big windows and balconies. No complaints at all. Location was great. Room very nice and easily accommodated the roll-away bed we need for our teenaged son. Staff terrific and helpful - especially the concierge, Farooq. He went out of his way to help me with a rental car problem I had. Even WALKED me to the nearest rental car office. Would stay here again.

My husband & I and our daughter have just returned from spending 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived by taxi we were treated exceptionally well. As we were sharing the room they gave us a larger room which had a separate TV room with a single bed for our daughter. Our room was extremely comfortable and very clean and the bathroom was a great size. My daughters and I stayed at the Splendid Etoile for three nights on the last leg of our 2 week journey through Europe. Our junior suite was fabulous! We had a balcony with views of the Arc de Triomphe and the top portion of the Eiffel Tower. The metro stop is right across the street and the Champs-Elysees is within sight of the hotel. The housekeeping staff had our room cleaned within a few minutes of our departure each day. Robes and even washcloths are provided!! I spent 3 nights and have but good things to say about it. It made our visit to Paris a great experience. First of all the staff is very friendly, the location is magnificent and the metro is 5 steps from the door (no noise). The rooms are spacious, very clean, great bathroom, they have double windows (no noise what so ever) and double shades (no light gets in). This hotel experience was very good. We stayed in both a regular room and an upgraded room. Both rooms had balconies. The regular room was small but very nice and no view. The upgraded room had a view of the Arc de Triumph, yet was very quiet. The staff were very helpful and kind. The resturant was excellent!! 15 to 20 minute walk to the Seine and just a couple of steps from the Metro stop. We would stay here again!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a week and half in early May, 2006, and had a fantastic time. The location couldn't be better -- right across the street from the Arc de Triomph. The metro stops right in front of the hotel, a taxi stand is just across the street, and the Champs Elysees is right there. My husband and I have just returned from 5 days Paris where we celebrated our first wedding anniversary. Like someone mentioned recently, I too booked the Splendid Etoile when it was number 2 in the ranks and almost changed to another hotel as I watched the ratings decline over the past few months - I needn't have worried. The service we received was polite and extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Just returned from a week long stay in Paris and at the Splendid Etoile Hotel. Had a fantastic time!!! The Splendid Etoile was clean, comfortable and quiet. Farook at the front desk was super friendly, helpful and spoke great english. It is a great location as the Air France bus drops you off right across the street from the hotel front door, we could see the Arc de Triumph out of our window and the hop on/hop off bus has a stop just on the other side of the roundabout. Located across from The Arc de Triumph / 10 minute walk to Eiffel Tower / 2 minute walk to Champs De Eylsse, the hotel served its purpose for a comfortable night's rest and locality near the sights of Paris. Concierge was helpful and gave us some good tips as far as pastry shops and general information. Take the Air France bus, it drops you off in front of the hotel, it could not have been more convenient. Room was okay, nothing spectacular.
