Regence Etoile Hotel

This hotel is modern hidden behind French charming. Its very clean and above all the staff is wonderful. The location could not be better. Get off the airport Air France #2 shuttle bus from CDG airport with a round trip ticket. Walk left for one and a half small blocks and you are there. Behind you ..the Arc De Triomphe and Champs Elysees. Two blocks down on Champs Elysees take the "on off open tour bus" . This puts all of Paris at your fingertips. I stayed at this hotel probably more than 30 times while I was working in Paris. Our company had some tight budget restrictions so it was really difficult to find good hotels at reasonable prices. I suffered through a lot of ghastly places until I found the Regence Etoile by accident - I literally walked right by it. After my first stay, they knew my name. We stayed for 5 nights in superior rooms, which were spacious and comfortable. Together with the proximity to the Metro, Champs Elysee, Arc de Triomphe and reasonable eating places, these advantages made this hotel excellent value. Staff were helpful, communicated with ease in English and were bemusedly tolerant of my efforts to speak very basic French. Excellent location, just 5 minute walk to Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees to pick up Tour Bus routes. A 15 minute walk to the River Seine and Boat Tours. Air France bus for Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport transfers, stops at the top of the road, smooth and problem free. Metro station 100metres from front of hotel makes for easy access to whole city. Our booking was a last minute change, thanks to trip advisor. I was so glad we stayed at this hotel, it was very convenient in terms of location--we were a few blocks away from the metro and champs elysee. Very quiet street but has a lot of nearby stores and places to eat. The rooms are relatively small like most european hotels but our room was very clean, has TV, refrigerator and clothes dryer/warmer (which was a big help if you plan to do laundry yourself). I stayed at the Hotel Regence Etoile for a long weekend in sept for my birthday. I couldn't fault it - the room was a perfect size, the bed was so comfortable, everything was immaculately clean, the shower was powerful and the little basket of toiletries in the bathroom was a nice touch. We got to the hotel a few hours before we were actually meant to check in so our room wasn't ready but the helpful lady at reception rang upstairs, (to the lady who i assume was cleaning the rooms) and asked for ours to be cleaned on priority. Very helpful staff. Cute rooms with a new coat of paint. All the basic amenities. The twin beds were small and just OK, but overall a very good hotel in a good location at a good price. Their breakfast is a little pricey for what you get. The brasseries up the street towards the Arc serve garbage, but there is a bakery at the other end of the Avenue Canot that has good food and coffee. Across the street from it is a reasonable restuarant, L'Ecluse, which has good food and great service for dinner, and, I believe, breakfast.

My husband and I stayed at the Regence Etoile during the weekend of the finish of the Tour de France. It was so easy to get to from Charles de Gaulle Airport (the Air France bus stops at the top of the road). The Metro and RER station is about 2 minutes away and the Arc de Triomphe approximately 3 minutes away. Although it is very close to the Champs Elysees, it is a quiet road. I stay at this hotel on a regular basis and have found it to be one of the best in the price range in the local area. Nice hotel, friendly staff and with service above what I would expect for a 3 star in Paris ... PLUS air conditioning that actually works ! The rooms are on the small side but that is what you get in Paris so don't let that disappoint you if you stay. What it may lack in room size it makes up for in location. I visit Paris every year and for the last five years I have stayed in this hotel. For a three star hotel you couldn't fault it. It is always clean, staff are friendly and I would say that it is probably 3.5* hotel. If you are travelling in by plane the Air France coach stops at the top of the road and if you come in by train/metro, the metro stop Charles de Gaulle Etoile is also a the top of the road. The rooms have everything you need. It is the perfect place to stay for a trip to this wonderful city.
