This is a fantastic hotel. Excellent condition. MASSIVE rooms!
I went on a family holiday with my parents sister and our partners, six of us in total. Our apartment consisted of a huge living area with dining table and double sofa bed which was reasonably comfy- for a sofa bed anyway! we had two bathrooms which were clean in full working order and good condition, two massive double bedrooms with two lovely balconies overlooking the pool and facing the sea. Our kitchen was contained in its own room, far better than most self catering kitchenettes, was fully equiped, with lots of storage. Rooms were cleaned daily.
The staff were fantastic. My mum thought her bed to be uncomfortable, complained to reception and the matter was dealt with straight away, swapping the mattress for another more satisfactory one.
This hotel is a good walk away from the beaches, however there are buses and taxis available around the clock. For the two weeks we were there we walked to and from the beach everyday and didnt find the walk a problem.
The beaches are fantastic. The beach is huge, sandy and fails to get crowded simply because it is so large. There are a few restaurants situated along the beach and also sun loungers and umbrellas available to rent.
The only downside was that the sea was cold, but was ideal to cool down in. On a couple of days there was some surf which was great fun.
The pool is great with plenty of sunloungers for everyone, despite this some sad people would still go and 'claim' theirs with towels early morning despite the hotels policy. pool area was cleaned daily. Palm trees offer some shade around pool which is good for those with families.
The food at the hotel isn't great and there aren't many other eating options in the immediate area of the hotel. However....
The hotel is located in the middle of two other resorts, Rocha and Alvor which are a short taxi ride away. Alvor is very quaint with fantastic restaurants. Many cook on a BBQ and the food is fantastic! They are very passionate about their fish and please... TRY TRY TRY! Im not a huge fan of fish but it is fresh and delicious, they are sooo helpful and will bone the fish at your table and make sure everything is to your liking. If fish really isn't your thing there are loads of other options so don't worry.
Rocha is much more built up than Alvor and far more commercialised, lots of english restaurents and pubs (many showing corrie and big brother!!) but still worth a visit. The best place to eat in Rocha is by the marina. A little more expensive but has fantastic views and is away from the hustle and bustle of the bars.
The hotel doesn't have very good entertainment in the evening. This place is fantastic in the day, great tennis courts, snack bars and mini golf but is worth going else where in the evening.
The people of Algarve are fantastic everyone from the taxi drivers to the restaurant owners to the hotel staff are so lovely. All speak English and are very welcoming and polite.
We loved this holiday and found this accommodation to be excellent, if returning to the Algarve, would definately return.
