Praia da Rocha is a lovely resort - but I don't think I would like to go in the height of the season when it's full. Hotel Luar is a fairly impressive building - the reception could grace a 5* hotel. Our room was beautifully clean and kept that way - nice size and balcony... more

This hotel is perfect for beach lovers as it sits above the cliffs of a gorgeous 3k stretch of golden sand and interesting rock formations. There are sun loungers available for hire, and one bar/restaurant per cove offering snacks and lunch. In the next bay to the left from the one in front of the hotel you can hire jet skis, and go out on banana boats, etc. The hotel is fairly good, offering clean rooms of a good size. Value for Money

We stayed at the Luar last week for a week and had a great time (apart from the weather!). The staff are all very friendly including the reception staff, the bar staff and the cleaners. All speak excellent english and will answer any questions. The pool is big and clean, the rooms are basic but you get what you are paying for. The location is ideal - you can walk 5mins in your bear feet to the beach and its 5mins to the "strip".

Just got back from Algarve today and i had to review the hotel. Pool was big and clean, perfect. Staff were very friendly and helpful no matter what hour day or night. Now onto the breakfast some people thought it was poor we liked it . The bread,cheese and juice were lovely, the coffee could be a bit hotter. A lot of people seem to have problems with the breakfast but the hotel is not expensive to stay in, you get what you pay for. My first time at this hotel, although my husband had stayed there before. The hotel was fairly quiet at the time we stayed -November/December 2006. The staff are excellent and very friendly. Rooms are clean with fresh towels etc. every day. You will need to bring your own shampoo and shower gel as the only thing provided is soap. There is a fridge in the room with a mini bar. We didn't use anything from it, but it was useful for keeping bottles of water we bought from the local supermarket for 19 cents. Rooms have a...

Brilliant location

Excellent location - great sea views - good sized swimming pool - lots of parking - helpful staff - good sized rooms - fridge in room. Downside - pool not heated (too cold in Oct to enjoy) - breafast was alittle basic.

Booked our holiday through Globespan and thought it was good value. I tried to book this hotel 3 years ago through a travel agent and 2 weeks before our holiday they confessed to "double booking" and offered us another hotel across the main road (take it or a refund). Don't stay across the main road!!!! Anyway this time we got in and had a much more enjoyable time. I'll give you the positive first. We just came back from our honeymoon in which we spent 9 nights at Hotel Luar. Lets start with the positives. The hotel is conveniently located right at the top of the cliff which overlooks Praiha da Rocha below. Each floor of the hotel has a communal balcony with a spectacular view of pool, boardwalk and beach. Just got back from Praia da Rocha. Best beaches I ever saw. The hotel is on the cliff directly above the fantastic beach. About 30 steps down to beach. Hotel location is great, right on the promenade but at the quiet end. A 30 second walk out the back of the hotel will take you to the beginning of the long strip of restaurants and bars. Great Position

We found the Luar hotel to be comfortable and clean. The balcony had a lovely view over the beach of Praia da Rocha. The position of this hotel I would say gives it an advantage over many of the others, as you only had to walk from the hotel pool area and you were on the promenade. From there it was straight down the stairs and onto the beach. Having been there on a family holiday that is a bonus.
