Marriott Hotel

You gotta love the American chain hotel with the excellent customer service! LOL! I stayed here for two nights in November 2006. The hotel staff are very customer friendly. The rooms are spacious, as was the bathroom and the best part of it was the bed! It was heavenly. Having traveled in Spain for a week and having to sleep on hard beds with thin blankets, the bed in my room at the Lisboa Marriott was a dream come true! what a dream property. from the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. i cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. i guess our highlight was the huge and luxurious bed. extras in the room and the helpful and friendly staff. the breakfats included everything imagainable. a huge A+ to the staff at this hotel. even tho it was situated a wee way out of the city by lisbons standards, it was only a 5 min taxi ride to the main square of lisbon and ther was always a taxi waiting at the door.

I won a voucher on ebay for this particular hotel. So it was worth every penny. But as i got to learn the real rates of this hotel - i thought it was quite a shock. OK, the bed is superb - I never ever found a hotel bed that could measure up to this standard, and OK you have your swimming pool to relax and a wonderful breakfast buffet... The Lisbon Marriott is a large, modern hotel located in a rather unattractive area of Lisbon 30 minutes away from downtown. Attracted by the low rates, we stayed here for 5 nights to explore Lisbon and the surrounding areas. Rooms: Typical Marriott rooms, of small size but pleasant, quiet, clean and featuring floor to ceiling windows. Bathrooms could use a renovation. Just returned from a long weekend at the hotel bought via e-bay. Paid equivalent of £35 a night inc breakfast. What a bargain! Huge choice for breakfast, usual array of breads,pastries & cooked & cold meats. For the price the breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Reception, restaurant, lounge & bedrooms worthy of 4 star rating. Stayed in room 1439 (non smoking) The only slight criticism was that the bathroom is showing signs of wear. Just got back from Portugal. We stayed 5 nights at the Marriott Lisbon. We got a great deal!!! 55 Euros per night. The room and service were excellent. They even have a pastry stand that sells Pasteis De Belem. I would have rated this hotel Excellent if the location was closer to downtown, grocery store or a restaurant. Anyway, don't let the location discourage you. It's only 5 Euros to taxi it to downtown. Maximum 10 Euros for taxi from Airport and 7 Euros for taxi to Airport. I stayed here for 4 nights in July for a business conference. It was comfortable and clean. The metro, train, and bus stations are a short walk away. Just ask the front desk to point the way. The hotel is also just a short distance from the airport making the taxi fare very cheap. I would stay here again if I find myself in Lisbon again.

We stayed at the Lisbon Marriott during the last night of our trip to Portugal. We began our trip at Pestana Palace in Lisbon. That hotel I would rank as more of the experience you would expect to find if you were taking your first trip to Portugal. A former palace renovated to a hotel. Stayed 3 nights in the beginning of July 2006. Typical American style hotel - comfortable beds, good amenities etc. Able to check in at 12 noon. Hotel is approx 15 min by taxi from airport and 15 mins by subway to city center. Got ripped off by taxi driver from airport (15 euros incl luggage) despite asking for receipt and telling him the usual price is around 8 euros for the same trip previously before we got into taxi. I agree with most of what has been written - yes, it's a fine hotel with many redeeming features but - and yes, there's always a but - it's the little things that niggle. From what others have said, it seems pretty routine that you are going to get ripped off with a taxi from the airport - 15 euros, eirport to hotel; six euros, return from hotel to airport.
