Great Position
Great position, superb for visiting the city. Just behind the hotel you have all the pubs&bar of the city, while with a 5 min walk you are in the historical city. The rooms a quite new and clean, but small. Hotel staff are not really talktative, but they do their job. It is STRONGLY suggested that you give a call after booking a room with internet because it happened us to sleep in an old room because in the hotel we were not expexted. Breakfast is ok and the price is great for what the hotel offers. Lisbona is a cheap... more
A Place to Rest Your Head
We stayed five nights at the Borges, chosen for its location, price and details on the Internet. It is in the centre of the Baixa-Chaido area and we wanted to be able to reach a wide number of places round Lisbon in the time available. We also thought it would be useful to have coffee houses next door. The entrance is attractive, the lobby quite small for the numbers that pass through it. The yellow furniture predicted by the website featured in our three rooms; bedroom, spare room useful for luggage and drying umbrellas and a sparkling... more
Location is the main reason to stay here
I stayed at this hotel for three nights from August 22nd. It's main selling point has to be it's location close both to the Baxia, and to the bars and restaurants in the Barrio Alto district. You can even save yourself the climb up the hill from the Baxia by using the elevators in the nearby metro station. I paid 75 euros per night for a large room on the forth floor, which was basically furnished but clean. The bathroom was very small, but had everything you needed. A breakfast is provided, but is not very good. All it... more
Location is about all it offers
My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Borges in mid-June for three nights. We found the air-conditioned double room clean and somewhat large for a European hotel room; the bathroom was similarly spacious and clean. However, our room overlooked the street in front, and it was extremely loud thanks to two loud cafe/bars out front and single-pane french doors that didn't shut tightly. We also found the 'breakfast' to be seriously lacking, even by continental standards -- count on just orange drink (that's 'drink', not juice), coffee/tea, and... more
Functional, but perfectly located
Stayed at Hotel Borges for 2 nights in May 2005. Was recommended the hotel for its location, and to be honest was expecting very basic accommodation. Having said that, I was pleasantly suprised. The rooms were large, and although slightly tired, very clean. Ideal for a short break, as it is in the heart of the city, close to Biarro Alto bars. Although in the centre of Lisbon, and our room faced the street, we did not experience any noise at night. Would definately return if visiting central Lisbon again.
A Super location!!!!
Several of us stayed at the Borges last March after our Seabourn Pride Transatlantic Crossing. We loved it! Rooms large and right in the City center of Lisbon. Next door is the world famous O' Brasileria Coffee House! Friendly desk clerk......speaks English. We'll be back! MBH West Texas
Perfect for us!
The Borges Hotel was recommended to us by this web site and it was the perfect hotel for us. Many thanks to the reviewer!! We were the only americans staying there. The rooms were clean and large. The breakfast was a surprise since the review we read said it wasn't much. We ate there and enjoyed it-delicious. The dining room was lovely. The location could not have been better-on a pedesrian street with music and activities and the famous coffe house just next door. It was central to everything. The shopping center was a block down... more
Gorgeous Borges
Stayed here for a week this November. Excellent location. Clean rooms. Excellent price. No TV's in the rooms. The complimentary breakfast was not too impressive but you can walk out the front door of the hotel and have coffee, juice and pastries for $5 a person. Metro station with escalators at the front door of the hotel saves you from having to walk up the hill everytime you return. Desk staff was helpful and all spoke English. For $40 a night taxes included I really should keep this place a secret!
