Great hotel in a good, safe location
from chickencurry007
This hotel is a block away from the Parque Metro stop in a decent location in Lisbon. It is a bit North of the major attractions, but it is close to the Gulbenkian Museum. The Metro is a great alternative to walking, but the walk down to the old centre of Lisbon is all down-hill from the hotel. The staff are very professional and curteous. The rooms are clean and even though my room was right off street level, it wasn't too noisy. The 10th floor bar/restaurant had great views and cheap beer. The breakfast in the morning was typical...

lisbon experience
from judithO
I arrived from a cruise ship an spent two nights here. It was a bit further from the centre than I had expected but no problem as I purchased a one day travel anywhere bus ticket. The hotel has an elevator and there was no problem with an early check in. The rooms were clean and comfortable but nothing special. There is no air conditioning which for November was no problem but maybe for travellers in the summers- may be. I left the window open the first night and found the traffic very noisy. Second night I closed it and it was...

not so good
from tezz89
i stayed there for a week, it's wasn't really bad but we got some problems. There were bad odours from the bathroom and the room was old furnished. Breakfast was good, and we got problems with the payment because they wanted only the voucher (which payed the first three days) and nothing more, even if we said that it wasn't all. Only after three months they claimed for the money!that was really strange!and the did this with other guests too.
Good base for city break
from MartinPM
Three nights in early September. Expected a no-frills budget hotel with basic facilities and carbohydrate breakfast. What we got was slightly better with a comfortable & reasonably sized room, effective air conditioning and clean, functional bathroom. Breakfast was chaotic & crowded but acceptable. The location is reasonably central with good bus & metro routes within 2 minutes. A good base for a city break is what we wanted & this is what we got. If you want 5 star, pay for it! Unless you are a culture vulture, don't bother with the well...

Acceptable
from Maya_on_tour
We stayed for a couple of nights in this hotel. The room was really small and narrow, and I kind of had the feeling the water was very smelly. When we arrives at the hotel we were greeted but I had the expression we weren't really welcomed, and we had to ask a lot of questions to get all the informations we need for the next day. And I was really dissappointed, when we left the hotel, they didn't even say goodby, just looked at us! Not very professional in my eyes! The food was good and the view from the Restaurant...

You get what you pay for

This hotel was very reasonable at €75 per room per night. The room was reasonably clean but very old fashioned and drab. Outside noise wasnt too bad. Facilities in the room were fine and the bathroom was clean. Location is OK, baixa district is a 15-20 minute stroll and the metro is great. Smoking was not an issue. We booked a non-smoking room. We stayed on the 7th floor where all rooms are non-smoking so there was no stale smells. Breakfast was very bad. We didnt complain as the price was reasonable and we...

Cheap, but at a "cost"!
from BMRC
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend break (3 nights). It was only €69 per night and of course that is very reasonable but the real "cost" is in terms of comfort etc.like previous reviewers have stated the rooms are very shabby and while we found our room to be clean ( we specified non smoking so bad smells were not a problem) the entire hotel is badly in need of re furbishment ,re painting etc. I cant understand why it is not being done (are the hotel management not bothered about negative reviews?) Our bed was incredibly hard, the...

Give Eduardo a Break
from A TripAdvisor Member
Spent the last week-end in Jan 2006 in this hotel and was worried because it had not got good reviews. Just to let you know the Hotel is fine and I would recommend it. Remember Lisbon is an old city, the hotel is an old building but, ok furnishings may have been a bit drab but everything was clean and beds were very comfortable (provided you like hard beds). Room service was good, plenty of hot water for your shower and the staff were polite and courteous. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant on the 10th floor is a novelty with the...

Not as bad as they say, and much better than other "hotels"
from tralinda
I switched to this hotel after being snookered by an online website into reserving a room at a residencia around the corner that advertised itself as a hotel. (Quite a difference between the two, believe me.) Not only did the Best Western take me as a walk-in customer, the room and hotel were cleaner, larger, and the people much friendlier. (I don't know about the other reviewers, but they were absolutely lovely to me, from the front desk to the bellhops to the cleaning staff and the restaurant waiters.) They had plenty of amenities,...

Smells like an ashtray
from A TripAdvisor Member
Distinctly average hotel. Our room stank of cigarette smoke. In fact, the smell seemed to get stronger over the 2 nights we stayed and we found cigarette butts on the floor suggesting the cleaners were smoking in our room. Unbelievable my friend. Don't stay unless you're the Marlboro Man!
