AC Palacio de Sottomayor Hotel

The AC Lisboa is a little out of the way - but it is an easy walk to the main part of town. There are several bus stops just around the corner that will take you all over town, including easy access to the theives market. It's easy to purchase tickets from the driver. Our room was very clean and modern - plenty of room to open 2 huge suitcases on the floor, and leave them open for our 3 day stay. This hotel is located close to Marques de Pombal square, at the end of Avenida de Liberdade, in an area occupied mostly by offices and hotels. It is not very lively then, so if you like local charm, crowded streets, restaurants and clubs, choose a different location. The street where the hotel entrance is situated is quiet and the hotel has very good sound proofed windows, so noise will not be a problem. we stayed here for a week, during the first part of a trip through Portugal. Very spare modern rooms (but we'd stayed in an AC in Grenada, so we knew what to expect). The clientele seemed to be mostly business people, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful (and fluent in English and several other languages). For a 4* hotel and the price going with it I was expecting something good at all levels. Yes the design is nice, rooms are clean, bed of good quality etc. BUT: - the staff is not vey nice - they do not even have an iron for business traveller (one night stay) - no safe in the room - no second door in the room to be isolated from corridor noise. - access to internet is very expensive - yes they do have a mini bar fro free but is that really a gift when you pay 120€ to have mineral water... more

The hotel is very modern and is decorated with style. The free minibar and free snack in the hotel lounge is a plus. Breakfast was good but there was not enouth stuff so they didnt refill the buffet quick enouth. But our biggest complains are about the receptionists. We met 3 and all of them were not the friendlyest and the first one tried to charge us 15 euros for the parking. I recommend to park in the street in front of the hotel where it is for free.

Modern Hotel in a central but quiet location in the heart of Lisbon. We have stayed in many others hotels in Lisbon and we think AC is one of the best and a good value for money!! Modern decoration with a lovely lobby and great rooms. Confortable beds, big bathroom and free minibar!! The brekfast is also very good with great selection of food. Kind and helpfull staff. We recommend this Hotel to anyone!!!

We stayed for three nights on holiday, and generally felt that the hotel was reasonable value for money. Our room was spacious, simply decorated and had everything that you need. It was a decent room with lots of storage space. Also, the bathroom was sizeable, clean and fully-equipped. In terms of the room itself, there was absolutely nothing to complain about whatsoever; it was great. We stayed with the AC chain in Barcelona in 2004 and were struck by the service and the real thought that has gone into their hotels. Simple but really helpful things like enough space for luggage when opened out, a free minibar for drinks, well-planned lighting, and so on. Even though this hotel seems geared to business people, every member of the staff we met here the night before Xmas made my two children and I feel very welcome! Making our last minute reservation over the phone, checking in and out, and breakfast at the wonderful hour of 5AM were all taken care of professionally and intelligently. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights recently. We were looking for hotel offers on the internet when we chanced upon the homepage of the AC chain of hotels. We are very glad that we had chosen this hotel even though we had found very little comments or reviews on it.
