Very Noisy
All the reviews you've read about traffic noise are true. Bring ear plugs because you may end up on the street side. Otherwise the property is fine for a moderate priced Mexican hotel. It also seem to cater to the older crowd, perhaps just what you are looking for.
Poor Customer Service
I have traveled to many countries and the Hotel Rosita by far had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They were rude, not helpful about exchanging money, changing to a quieter (non street) room was almost impossible, and the service was horrible and confusing from the bar and resturant. Maid service ran extremely late. Other than this particular hotel (where ear plugs are a must), Puerto Vallerta was great! I recomend the Pirate Ship Marigalante! 1/28/05 - 1/31/05
Don't book through Expedia !!!!!
We read the reviews .... and booked through Expedia. This was disastrous. We had just come from 2 weeks at the Casa Iguana.... apartment-sized units at a lower price... and quiet! We asked Expedia for a quiet room, and ocean view if possible. When we arrived the desk clerk advised us that Expedia always had the street-side rooms ONLY, and they were nothing like the Expedia picture. Expedia also promised 2 double beds, but mine was TWIN and sagged in the center. There was a balcony as promised-- 1 foot wide. No windows, but a door to the... more
Noise Noise Noise
Beware of rooms which are adjacent to the street at the Hotel Rosita. We couldn't sleep due to the noise, even with earplugs. Note, street side rooms are about 4 feet from the street! Such nightly noise included traffic control police whistles, mufferless cars and motorbikes, screaming drunken partiers, cars which boom box music which shake your room, and vomiting club goers. Although the pool side and ocean view may give you some noise relief, I would look elsewhere since the ocean in this area is not swimable. I would recommend looking... more
If you like Mexico stay here
We have stayed at the Rosita twice. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and funtional. Everything was decorated in a manner I would think a real Mexican hotel should be. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would suggest the ocean view rooms for both the view and the fact that the street side rooms can be very noisy. If you want the real Mexican expierience stay here, if you want an American or Canadian style vacation I would try somewhere else.
Wonderful stay (partial ocean view room)
I stayed here in May 04 for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. No problems at all - it was clean, has an excellent location on the beach at the start of the boardwalk, has a nice pool, and is a great economical deal. I booked through Expedia and they originally gave me a room with air conditioning facing the street, but I asked for an ocean view room instead. They showed me 2 partial ocean view rooms (looking up the beach) and let me pick - one had A/C but had a balcony 5 inches deep, so you could only stand on it. The other had no... more
Worth a Try
Stayed at The Rosita 4/22/2004. Originally booked a room facing a side street, but with the street noise, requested an ocean view room on a high floor. For an additional $10, we got a fabulously quiet and cool room. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs, and the bar/restaurant area are very pleasant. This is not the Four Seasons, but if you want a down to earth, clean and pleasant place to stay, the Hotel Rosita is hard to beat.
Get an ocean view and enjoy
Our family just returned from fabulous Puerto Vallarta and a brief (4 night) stay at the Rosita. We paid the extra money for a suite with an ocean view which was money well spent. The Rosita is truely located right in the heart of down town and any the street view rooms would be very noisey to put it mildly. I felt like I was surrounded by action during our entire stay! The upside of this hectic location is you are a few steps from shopping, and good restaurants (especially left from the Rosita, away from the Malecon), also Leys which is a... more
been there twice
I've stayed at the Rosita twice, once in an ocean view room and once in a street view room. I love the place. Sure, the street room is noisy. That's the nature of streets. The whole place is very comfortable, easy and friendly. It's convenient to almost everything that I was interested in. If you love Mexico, you'll love the Rosita. If you love the all-inclusives, you won't.
Do some research...
I read reviews on tripadvisor and decided to take my chances and book anyway. I wish I hadn't, and I don't think I would stay there again, especially considering the price. First of all the good things: The common areas of the hotel--restaurant, lounge, pool, etc.--were quite nice. The pool is not very large and and is surrounded by a chain link fence, but the pool area and restaurant are right next to the ocean, and the area is well maintained. The staff was also generally friendly and helpful. Now for the bad: The room was rather... more
