Ghetto of Puerto
14 of us just got back after 7 days at Punta Arena. This resort was a let down . There was a break in, in one of our rooms. and the front desk had an "Oh Well "attitude. The Service was poor and the food was substandard ,unless you like raw chicken and the vegetables from the night before. I will be more than happy to send you photos of all the downsides to this resort including the 12 story unfinished hotel blocking any chance of a water view, and the sewer smelling channel right next to the pool deck that is full of garbage. This resort... more
You definitely get what you pay for which isn't much
We stayed here at the end of January, 2005 and my first comment is you definitely get what you pay for. The grounds are really nice but they are spoiled by an unfinished 15 story hotel that obscures your view of the ocean. No matter where you are you can see this big ugly grey abandoned building. It really ruins of the effect of being near the ocean. The hotel is very old and it shows. Get to the pool early and set your towel out or you won't have a lounger all day. Keep your pool towel during your entire stay or you may not have one of... more
champagne taste on a beer budget?
i am really surprised by the negative comments about this resort. i went expecting it to be pretty bad.upon checking in to my room it was discovered the a/c sounded remakably similar to the 737 i had arrived on a short time before, the extremely nice bellman (Nicholas)who made every effort to carry my overpacked ,oversized and VERY HEAVY dufflebag and golf clubs w/airline case up the stairs who begrudgingly accepted my offer to help after a valient effort! told me he would send someone right up to fix it,well 5 minutes later a young man came... more
Pay a little more... go elsewhere
Just arrived from Costa Club Punta Arena... We arrived at the hotel at 3:00am and the check in was quite fast, however we were told if any problems to come back in the morning... That is how they solved all there problems. The staff at the front desk ( Reception) should change their attitude. They always told us to come back the next day. Very unfriendly and their first answer is sorry, we don;t have, we can;t or come back tomorrow. It seemed they were not happy to be there. Prior to my travel, I verified their website.. Half of... more
Terrible !
Terrible is the word for it , this is not a 3 star hotel , its a 2 star at Best, the rooms are old . the staff specially the front desk are not efficient , they say something and it never happens, there is this half built hotel in front that blocks your view to the beach , the only thing that was SO SO and thats why im grading a 2 was the food And that is sometimes and also the location of the hotel, I would definetely not go there again. Also the Hot water , you are taking a shower and its as if your timed , you cannot use it more than than... more
Good value-Try to afford better
The resort is a good value. Beautifully landscaped. Close to the beach and downtown. The staff really do work their butts off. We did the all inclusive and it was mostly an enjoyable experience. The food was alittle iffy at times-but remember you are in Mexico. I really enjoyed the breakfast and found there was usually alot of variety to choose from. However, Some meals I found it was tougher to find something you felt like eating. There was 3 couples in our group and non of us had a balcony or a view. We tried to get 1 couple that had... more
Awesome time at Costa Club
I recently got back from a week-long stay at Costa Club Punta Arena, and I have to say that I wish that I had not come home! Hotel rooms are adequate, food is decent, staff are so incredibly accomodating. There are daily activities to keep you entertained while you are getting a tan. Awesome location, about a 15-20 minute walk from the Malecon or about 35 pesos in a cab. Only problem we had was our neighbours had a kid who liked to start screaming at about 7 in the morning, but management did talk to them about it. If you are looking... more
awesome resort
just got back from the costa club punta arena, we stayed from jan 7 to 14th 2005. we booked this resort last minute with world of vacations, there were 6 of us travelling together. From the minute we arrived we had a wonderful time. Quick smooth check in, we checked in at 10:00 p.m., and were told that if there was anything at all not to our liking that we would be able to switch rooms in the morning. All 6 of us were very happy with our accomodations. Our room was right on the main floor, very close to the pool, but it was great, very... more
Great deal for families
Just came back from there, went on Jan1/05. Such a friendly place, the workers at the hotel were incredibly helpful. My husband, and our 6 kids went, ages ranging from 11 thru 6months. Our kids just loved everything about the hotel, from the food to the swimming pools. I just wish we had more time to do more things that were available to do thru the hotel. Our kids all said that they had more fun in Puerto Vallarta than they did in Disneyland, so therefore I really encourage families to take there kids there!!! If we go back to Puerto... more
Want quiet, don't go!!
Just spent the worst 3 nights of my life at this hotel. My family and I just moved to another hotel. It was that, or go home. It was noisy form 9:00 a.m. until midnight...blaring music, the same songs every day whether there were people at the pool or not. The music was so loud that you couldn't carry on a convesation in your room and you could even here it at the beach. The view is dismal as you are staring into a tall building that is under construction...it looks like like it has been bombed and blocks any view this hotel might... more
