Really impressive
Really impressed with this little hotel. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, there was a lovely pool and the rooms were absolutly spotless. We'll definitely return next year!
Wonderful!
I chose Pensao Pica Pau after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and I was not disappointed. It was very clean, the staff very friendly (Thanks Susan for your help and advice!), and centrally located to beaches, shopping, and the train and bus systems. The pool area was lovely- very relaxing and quiet. I was travelling alone and felt safe in the neighborhood at all times. Pica Pau was very good value and I would highly recommend it for travellers who want to be close to the action but tucked away in their own little 'eden'.
A Great Find
I found this place through tripadvisor and I'm thrilled that I did. It was just perfect - small and personal, spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms, lovely pool area. The owners were friendly and extremely helpful and the price was an absolute bargain. Even though Estoril isn't as nice as Cascais up the road, it's more relaxed and withiin walking distance of busy Cascais
Great getaway!
I thought this place was a perfect little hideaway in a quiet, residential part of Estoril. There's a nice pool which was never too busy, a library of books in the poolhouse you can borrow from, quite a nice restaurant (though not the cheapest in the area)and a bar. The rooms were kind of rustic and very clean. We really enjoyed our problem-free stay in Pica Pau. Location: It's only a short 5 minute walk down to the beach, along which you can walk the mile or so into the larger town of Caiscais. You come across several little... more
wonderful little hotel
This is a wonderful little place in a resedential area. Nice and quiet yet very close to the beach. Sue the owner is very helpful and full of local knowledge. We visited many beaches off the beaten track where tourists don't usually go so we got a real taste of portugese life. Lisbon is only 30 mins away by train, which is very regular and the station is close to the hotel. There are many lovely shops and restaurants in Cascais which is a lovely long walk away along the sea shore. It's a great base for holiday and I can't wait to go back... more
fabulous and unspoilt
this is the second time we visited this hotel, the first was 7 years ago and secondly this year, it is a hundred times better than we remember. the hotel is clean, ex facilities, ex swimming pool and poolside bar, lovely continental breakfast. the position of this hotel could not be better, although up a hill which may not suit anyone with walking difficulties ,it is ideally situated on the edge of estoril and mins walk into cascais, many small and very clean beaches along the promenade. will def be returning.
Love this hotel
I've been staying here for years. Great service, great staff. Small, friendly and informal. Central location - very handy for eveything. Highly recommended.
Small but delightful hotel .
We couldn't fault this hotel in any way, every little detail had been thought off. It was extremely clean with welcoming owners, Suzanne and her Portugese husband, who were just so helpful, with information on public transport to various attractions to extremely good restaurants. We shall hopefully return next year.
Very quiet
The hotel was exactly what I had hoped for. It was quite small and in a quiet residential street. I asked for a quiet room with a balcony and this is what I got. The bed was very comfortable and the room and the hotel were always very clean. The hotel owners were pleasant and friendly and a good source of useful local information. I thought the restaurant food was good without being memorable. It seemed rather expensive but Estoril is a very expensive area. My only criticism is that we did not have tea and coffee making facilities in our... more
Wonderful little Hotel
Have used Pica Pau on several occasions. alone and with family. Very nice location in central side street. good food in nice restaurant. Cosy pool. Rooms clean and nicely furnished. Walking distance to Estoril Casino, to Cascais and Lisbon train. Owners (Alberto and Sue) very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommendable !
