I have been to this hotel twice now...
10 / 10
Jan 2007, Miss A McManus

I have been to this hotel twice now and loved it.
Spotless, friendly staff and lovely food. Not to mention the beach location.
Definitely recommend to anyone. I was there with my boyfriend and again on a girly holiday and it suited both.
I honestly cannot understand the bad reviews! Fab hotel - will probably be back soon!

After reading all reports about this...

Jan 2007, Miss N.F.Núria

After reading all reports about this hotel, I honestly thought I had made a big mistake.
I still decided to go through with the holiday and I'm glad that I did.
We couldn't complain, the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and so was the hotel. We didn't have a problem with the food either, we thought it was OK.
If you have booked here, still go. We has a brilliant holiday. I have got to stick up for this hotel.

The staff were lovely at the hotel...
3 / 10
Dec 2006, Miss S Swan

The staff were lovely at the hotel and I cant say anything bad about them - well apart from the chef. The food was terrible. My partner lived on melon for a week. The Burger King down the road was a life saver as far as we were concerned.
The entertainment was appalling - nothing for the adults at all. Even the kids were a bit bored with it all. The same stuff every night.
The rooms were not clean - the sheets were cleaned and changed maybe twice in a week, which is pretty bad when you are in a hot country and obviously getting hot and sweaty at night.
You would really need to clean the squashed mossies's off the walls before you could consider the rooms to be clean. The air conditioning in our room didn't work - we took it apart and cleaned it - it was that dirty no wonder it didn't work.
It is advertised as a 3 star hotel - sorry but it is 2 star at the most - I know its not that expensive to stay for all inclusive, but I have been on far better all inclusive holidays than this and it was only £100 dearer and the food and drink were far superior.
So if this is your first experience of all inclusive you would probably never do it again- but don't let it put you off they are normally much better than this.

After reading the reviews on this...
8 / 10
Nov 2006, Miss S Purkiss

After reading the reviews on this hotel I wasn’t entirely sure, but on arrival I realised we had no worries.
Got dropped off on other side of the road but soon realised we had to go through the underpass, which was absolutely fine, very well lit, clean and did not smell.
Had to move rooms at first because of confusion but got moved to a lovely room over looking the beach, gorgeous view.
Very friendly staff, drinks very good, bar opens at 10.30 I think it was, doesn’t close till late, food little repetitive, but on the whole decent enough for the duration of our stay and the money we paid.
Lots of shops on other side of the road, open till very late. Defo recommend going to Barcelona, we went by train, easy to get to. Went on the bus tour, can get on and off when and where you like, shows you the whole of the city.
Overall I loved the place would defo think about going back to the area and the same hotel, oh and plus factor, directly on the beach!

Hotel was nice! Very clean! Rooms...
8 / 10
Oct 2006, Miss Louise Wade

Hotel was nice! Very clean! Rooms were basic but comfy. Drink was very good I would recommend the Malibu and coke, tequila sunrise and pina colada!
All staff Very nice! Made good friends with the bar people. Wasn’t at all pleased that we had to move rooms 2 days before leaving as there was a leakage with the bath/shower, was sent to another room with a TV that didn’t work until you brought a remote and then you only had the standard channels that you should have had already!
The food wasn't that great! chips/chips and more chips apart from the odd occasion were you had packet mash! Mostly pork and for pig eaters who find a picture of a pink pig on top of the dish and go yum! That’s all good! Not suitable for vegetarians, you will have a wide variety of lettuce and not much else. Although food was good for the price paid!
I found this hotel to be a very nice a welcoming one! The fact that you have to walk under the underpass is not a big deal as it well lit and doesn't smell one bit!
There is a stray cat that goes down all the bins for food, it's a tabby colour and is very thin, please leave food near the bin for the poor lil fellow as I did every night! There are always leftovers that get chucked away and the cats staving!
Overall lovely stay, lovely staff, satisfying room! Might go again the only thing that would put me off is the limited variety of food other than that a welcoming hotel with a beach on it's doorstep is great!! Would recommend!

I have to be honest and say that this...
4 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs D Richmond

I have to be honest and say that this hotel was the most disgusting hotel I have ever had to stay at.
We had to go through an underpass to get to the hotel which had dog poo trod in it from one end to the other, and throughout our stay we had to encounter many more dog poos and vomit whilst using this underpass.
The hotel reception area was clean and did look promising. However our room looked like it was still in mid construction. We booked a family room which consisted of three sets of stairs two of which were quite large and one which was made up of what resembled railway sleepers (one of which was loose). Neither set of stairs were safe for children and I found it hard to sleep at night worrying that my child would wake in the night, go wondering and have an accident.
There was a massive hole cut out of one of the walls for which reason do not know but it was beside one of the beds which a child could not of slept in as on the other side of the hole was a set of stairs. I think it is clear that for a family room it was not very child friendly. The carpet did not go under the beds and was not cleaned during the entire week of our stay.

The walls were very dirty with gaps between them and the ceilings. The bathroom smelled like urine and was neither brushed or mopped during our stay. On one occasion I dropped a nail polish behind one of the units and choose to leave it there rather than stretch my hand through the blanket of dust behind the unit.
Though I must say the beds were changed every day and fresh towels were also supplied.
The hotel did not put much effort into the entertainment they supplied and we found ourselves bored most evenings. The quality and variety of the food on offer was poor the safest option was the salad and chips. The bread was often stale, meat was more fat than meat, and the chicken was processed. I would be surprised if the hotel actually employed a chef.

Having read all the reports on this...
1 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr P Hayes

Having read all the reports on this hotel we thought it couldn’t be that bad, well it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in & we couldn’t wait to get home after 4 days & we had booked for two weeks.
The room was very small and very dirty, air conditioning very poor, room very smelly, carpet in room also very dirty, cleaner went over carpet with a dirty mop & never hovered in the 2 weeks we were there, (first time there has been a carpet in my hotel room).
The cleaner didn’t come near room for last 3 days of our holiday, beware if you book a cot when booking holiday as this hotel charges you 70euros on arrival & I could have bought a better cot for cheaper as this was very old & also very smelly & my 1 year old son had to sleep in this.
Also the beds were the same & we had 1 extra bed in our room that we didn’t need but staff couldn’t understand us when we complained, food was ok for 1st 4days but after that we all had to eat out as we would go into restaurant but walk back out as food was terrible & you didn’t know what most of it was as they put pictures of animals above each item.
Entertainment very poor, pool very dirty, only cleaned twice, me & my stepson both got ear infections after the 4th day, I also seen at least another 3 people with the same,
We never got bitten outside it was only in our room that we did even though we had repellent spray & plug in, room ceiling was like office ceiling with plenty of squashed bugs on it, resort very dirty, also underpass to hotel very smelly, avoid this resort & hotel like the plague, you have been warned, (35,37,11,9,1).

I read the reviews of this hotel...
7 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr N Cameron

I read the reviews of this hotel before we went and was concerned that we were not going to have the same standard of all inclusive that we have had in previous years.
I think the Hotel Amaraigua is certainly not the best place we have stayed but it’s not the worst. I think it is a very family orientated hotel and if you are Single or a couple stay away as you will be bored.
The hotel is well kept and very clean as are the rooms but they are not very big, but you don’t go on holiday to stay in your room. It’s unfair that some people criticize the staff in other reviews; I found them all very pleasant and very helpful. The food was great, although the choice of potatoes was limited to chips for most nights, (hey I’m a big lad it did me a favour eating salad).
The hotel is right on the beach and is great (if not a bit windy on occasion), which is good because the pool is small and they only have enough sun beds to cover about 1-5th of the guests. Don’t read into the subway thing too much they are clean, well lit and don’t smell of urine and there is one every 200 yards so if the one in front of the hotel is not to your liking then use one of the others.
The one thing I was a bit disappointed about was that the hotel controlled the lights to your balcony and go off at 11.45 and the bar area is clear and the whole place is in darkness at 12.00, you would have thought they would have stayed open even if you paid for your drinks after 11.30. We have 2 children and don’t want to stay in the bar area all night but do like to take a few drinks up to the room and sit on the balcony but we couldn't do that.
On the whole the hotel is not to bad at all and Malgrat is exactly what you would expect a Spanish tourist resort to be (if you like that kind of thing). (P.S. If your a football fan - keep an eye out for Barcelona Football tickets as you can get them In the hotel).

Really modern and clean hotel right...

Aug 2006, cgalvin

Really modern and clean hotel right on the beach. Had a varied all inclusive menu that combined Spanish, English and Dutch food.
The all inclusive bar was well stocked and the measures were very generous! All the staff were really welcoming, friendly and helpful. They were very knowledgeable on the area and helped us organise a great trip to Barcelona. When a light bulb went in our room it was dealt with immediately.
The hotel felt safe and secure and our rooms were well-sized and spotless. Would definitely go again.

After reading the other reports we...
7 / 10
Aug 2006, Miss L Wall

After reading the other reports we were slightly dubious as to what to expect and slightly worried about the mosquito situation, however when we arrived we were surprised as to how lovely the hotel itself was.
The hotel room for the two of us was very, very small and claustrophobic, however clean and comfy.
The meals were OK, we did however choose to eat at alternate places throughout the week, The Bei Pepe restaurant on the front which we would recommend was lovely and reasonably priced, (40 euros for two main two deserts and a bottle of cava). The food at the hotel did get boring unless you enjoyed chips for two meals a day, however you do get what you pay for!
If you are going for evening entertainment, this is not the place for you, the entertainment staff spoke very little English and were basically very boring. Venturing out of the hotel we found 5 English bars?! Not a lot of nightlife is available in the resort.
Before going on holiday we took a course of vitamin B1 (thiamin) we were advised this could help with the mosquito problem and we didn’t get a single bite the whole holiday, we did see people with lots and lots of bites.
All in all we had a lovely location, right on the beach (unlike so many other hotels in the resort) which is what we love, so location for us was perfect. We would certainly recommend the hotel for someone wanting cheap and cheerful!

Having read reviews on this Hotel...
8 / 10
Jul 2006, Mr C Huttley

Having read reviews on this Hotel prior to departure, I felt I should comment giving the few negative reviews I read.
The hotel was clean comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful, yes the rooms are not exactly large but more than adequate for myself and my teenage son. The entertainment was a bit sparse but we had a couple of very good evening’s entertainment.
The food was pretty good, always something to choose from, and for the price of the holiday you could not really complain and you could always go out for something if you really did not fancy anything on offer.
In conclusion for the price of the holiday (under £500 for two of us) we both felt it was really good value for money and we had a great time.

This holiday resort was ok but I...
5 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss T Nielsen

This holiday resort was ok but I would not go to that hotel again or Malgrat de Mar, I went with my best friend and we are both 17/18 years old there was nothing outside the resort to do except a couple of British pubs and 2 or 3 clubs Malgrat de mar is a bit boring I would recommend families should go and the kids should b young so they don’t want to do nothing except go in the pool or on the beach or people who want to venture out the resort every day and explore, if you wanted to go out a lot where its lively I would say stay at Lloret where we should of really gone to, there was hardly any young people there around are age and if they were they Germans wahoo (not). And the entertainment was really bad like they had bingo and karaoke, parrot show and flamenco dancers sounds ok but its not lol.
The food was absolutely rubbish but I got through it and ate it but it was not nice it was repetitive like chips etc even they weren’t nice, and the alcohol is nasty as well I think it is watered down local drink they have out there so its nothing we r used to so I rather not drink it the beer was ok that’s about it.
But the plus side was the beach was very nice and was right there at the back of the hotel so you could just sit there at night when you wanted etc the pool was nice and the rooms went that bad but you get what you pay for its true and I think next time I will go self catering much cheaper.
This sounds a bit depressing about this hotel but its not that bad just how it was.
Tiffany and Chantelle.
