Baia Hotel

British people seem to think this place is a deal. The hotel is full of them. Many of them think noone else in the country speaks english, so be prepared to overhear lurid conversations about czech prostitutes while waiting for your drink at the bar. Other than the location, and the room having a balcony with a beautiful view, I would give this hotel 1 star. Standard Hotel. That is quite pricey for what you get. Breakfast just ok, Rooms very average if that. I agree with previous posts outlining the friendliness of the check-in staff etc. Very dour and sour and in no way welcoming to your stay at the Hotel. Good views, personal and friendly service, very central, walking distance from everything, beach, sea, shopping, restaurants, etc. Not very luxurious but since we only go there to sleep and shower was fine. Good price quality ratio. Will return defenitaley (-)

We have stayed at the Baia on and off for 25 years. It is always the same. The view and location are unbeatable in Cascais. The hotel is distinctly average and the staff (particularly on reception) are downright miserable. Over the years I have sworn not to return - but still do having tried most of the other hotels in town and finding them lacking in terms of the sheer pleasure of sitting on the Baia balcony and looking at the views. We booked this hotel directly: [--]. The staff is very efficient and answered my email immediately with the info that I requested. I asked for, and got, a room with a balcony overlooking the Bay. My boyfriend and I went to the Lisbon Area for 6 days and had actually booked a room in Sao Saturnino outside Sintra, but the hotel was horrible - almost scary - and we decided to go to Cascais instead. Hotel Baia was the only hotel with vacancy and we decided to stay there for a night. From the outside, the hotel looks quite rundown, but the view from the rooms is outstanding. My girlfriend and I have just returned from 5 nights in Cascais. We spent the first 3 in the Hotel Baia and found it bad value and not worth 105 euro per night. The bedrooms are clean but very small. The bathroom was really cramped but the shower was nice and powerful. The lobby and the corridors are all a bit dark and depressing. Breakfast unfortunately was truly horrendous. Have just got back after spending ll days at the Baia Hotel. The hotel looks out over a small b each and fishing harbour and with a room on the front which all have balconies it is a wonderful place to stay. The housekeeping is really good - the room was cleaned properly every day and the bed linen changed frequently. We ate here several times - mostly from the light menu and the food was mostly good - the breakfast was good too if a bit monotonous. We have stayed here twice & will go back again, the hotel is quaint, in fab location right on the beach, & within walking distance of all restuarants etc. If you like to shop, dont go to Cascais.

We've just returned from 2 weeks in Cascais staying at the Pestana Cascais. Just wanted to say that we had a drink the bar, twice, at the Hotel Baia and the hotel's location is superb. It is one of those places that is a LOT better in 'real life' than it looks on its website. Do I wish we'd stayed there instead of Pestana Cascais? No. But I would think about staying at Hotel Baia next time perhaps.
