Melia Puerto Vallarta Hotel

my boyfriend and I recently won a trip to stay at the Melia, and we just returned last week. Obviously I can not complain, considering it was a free trip, but i have to say after being there, i would deffinetly pay to go back. The grounds there were beautiful, very well kept gardens, maids and groundskeepers everywhere you looked. The rooms were very nice, not the most comfortable beds, but a very good size. My boyfriend and I just returned from our stay at the Melia Puerto Vallarta and there is not much bad to say about the place! The grounds are incredibly well kept, the lobby is nice, and the rooms are spacious and clean. The food isn't spectacular, but it is easy to find something you like and we had no problems with the meat or anything else for that matter. Our family just got back february 1,2003. I have 5 small children and it was a really good vacation for the money. It is a family resort and structured around childrens activities. I would recomend it for the money. The resort is about 15 years old.

I have been to Puerto Vallarta many time and this is the first and only bad experience I have ever had there. This is also the first time I went All-inclusive and the last. I felt cheated and deceived that the low quality food was the same day after day. The AC didn't work and the maids didn't clean the rooms unless I complained. The staff continually played dumb every time I requested service for the AC system or to have the room cleaned. We stayed at the Melia from Jan 7-14. Absolutely loved it there. Our double room was much larger than the average hotel room. everything was marble including the balcony, 5th fl over looking the ocean..beautiful. The Melia has the largest pool in PV, very clean, we never had a problem finding lounge chairs. They serve you drinks by the pool as well. Great Pina Coladas! The Melia Puerto Vallarta was a beautiful resort. It is very inviting. The hotel was very clean(I was able to walk around without any shoes). The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Joyce, the hotel rep. was the best. Although the pool was crowded in the mornings, it was very refreshing in the hot sun. However, the one complaint I had was the food. Lunch and, especially breakfast was good but dinner was not that good. just home from a week stay at the Melia. We arrived Christmas eve and left New Years Eve, Had requested an ocean view and got it for an additional 20.US per nite. The rooms were average, TV never did work, and light in the bathroom burnt out till the last morning. The food was not so good, luckily we like salads as the meat was questionable. We found the staff to be very unfriendly and service lacking. We are not hard to please but this hotel lacked in just about every area and I would find it difficult to reccomend it to anyone.

We were at the Melia from Dec. 21 - 28, 2002 and had a wonderful time! The resort was absolutely gorgeous, very tastefully decorated for Christmas and the accommodations were impeccable! The maids brought fresh flowers into our room each day and we were pampered! Our friends who did not have children, however, were not as spoiled as we were - the Melia definitely caters to kids! Was there in November. The staff were working hard outside to clean up, but the best part of the place ( the grounds) were a little weatherbeaten obviously. Not their fault. There is no place to hide from the everpresent cacophany at the poolside, what with Bingo and the like. If people wan't to do that stuff, fine...but there should be a quiet area for those who don't. Our entire family (16) just got back after a week at the Melia. We will never go back. First, if you arrive at the hotel before 3 pm., expect to wait for a room. With a lot of pushing, we finally got rooms (not yet cleaned) at 1 pm. The rooms are pretty beaten up. If you are accustomed to staying in nicer hotels, this is not one, a three star is being kind. TV remotes not working or missing, mildew on the ceiling in the bathroom, and furniture that looks like it has been abused. This was common across all of our 5 rooms. <br... more
