Hacienda Spa Hotel

I LOVED it! I went with a friend of mine and we had a blast. On the first night we got there, they threw a Mexican fiesta night with singers and lots of great food! The entertainment guy there (Tony) traveled through us all with a little drinking game to start off our vacation right. I can't remember much of that night, but the pictures tell me I had a lot of fun :o) We even hooked up with a bunch of young mexicans on vacation and had a blast with them! The hotel was awesome. My cousin, grandma and me went there for two weeks. It was a great time. Tony was awesome, he took us out to the bars and showed us a good time. The bartenders are very good too, they gave us whatever we asked for. Same with the waiters. One of them was awesome, he taught us some of the language. But all in all it was a good place to stay and I would recommend this place to everyone. Tony made it fun there no matter what thats all that matters.

Stayed Sun. Apr. 18 to Sun. Apr. 25, 2004. One complaint , but it was very important to me. The 1st 5 nights , we were in rm 130 and the room above us, rm 230, was very loud, keeping us awake. The man would walk, or I should say STOMP, whenever he came in, which was anywhere between midnight and 5AM, waking us up for the 1st 5 nights of our stay there. We are generally a happy go lucky group in terms of satisfaction of resorts but this one truly was a letdown. Rooms - were in need of paint etc. The beds were hard as rocks. The cleaning staff made the bed, but that was about it, the soaps were never replenished. There were bottles of water in your room that they charged you $2 US for, and if you were desperate and drank them they were never replenished. I looked at the website photos before, and thought I was prepared for a "rustic" but quaint hotel. When we arrived I was not prepared for the filth and deplorable accommodations we were given. The lobby was okay and the front desk was shoddy. We walked in and I noticed the toilet was broken. The hotel staff was nice and quickly responded. The shower was only a stall not a bathtub and the glass door was cracked and wouldn't close so you had to hold it - water leaked everywhere. We stayed at the Hacienda Hotel thoughout the March Break, and I expected it to be busy and it was never difficult to get great food and a good variety. The service was excellent, very friendly and professional. It is hard to believe that some people have had negative things to say. Perhaps it was a 'personal conflict' and it should not be generalized. Everyone that we spoke to that was staying there were loving their stays as well. Everything was fabulous! I returned from Puerto Vallarta this evening, which is Friday, February 13th, 2004. We started our vacation there 7 days ago on the 6th. The hotel looked great from the outside, and the lobby was very nice also. The front desk staff were not overly friendly. There was one male manager at the front desk who was terribly rude, and very unresponsive to our requests. If this is a 4 Star Resort, I would hate to even imagine hat a one star would be like. The beds were harder than any I have ever slept on with no box spring and ann exeedingly hard matress set on a concrete pedestal. For anyone with a bad back this is a "Stay Away" recommendation. Facilities seemed very run down and the staff not very interested in being all that accommodating to our needs. The ceiling of our room was leaking so much we had a puddle on the floor. My 7-year-old slipped and hit his head on the dirty tile floor and the management did nothing. We had our family of five staying in two rooms. The other room had no working telephone, but came complete with bugs and flifthy floor and sheets. The floor had piles of dirt and the bed sheets were sandy. Two towels were given for three people and it took six hours to get another. My husband and I have stayed at the Hacienda Buenaventura for the past 2 years in Jan/Feb. We love it. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean, the maids are very courteous and obliging. The beach is a 3 mins. walk away. We walked along the beach into downtown Puerto Vallarta on most days, and then took the local bus back to the Hacienda. The food was good, although a little repetitious.
