Buenaventura Beach Club Hotel

I'll echo everyone's comments about the staff, as they seem to bend over backwards for you (I even had one defending me from an evil taxi driver that wanted to call the police on me).The atmosphere in the bar, pool, and restaurant areas is great. The food and prices were okay, but I wish they had more menu choices. What would make this area superb is a larger beach front area.Convenient to down town shops and restaurants. My main complaint is that we were hassled SO much by PV vendors, that I wouldn't recommend PV as a vacation destination.

We stayed at the Buenaventura Hotel & Beach Club for a week in January 2002. We loved the location, but the hotel had some problems. The room we were in had NO view except an ally! The room was dirty and very run down. We were able to upgrade to a better room for an extra $20.00 a night for our 2nd through 7th nights. We only ate one meal at the resturant on property and it was mediocre. There are many fantastic resturants within walking distance of the hotel or a short bus ride.

I was nervous about staying here after reading some of the reviews after I had booked my trip, but as soon as we arrived, we knew we had chosen wisely. The location was right in the center of everything. The shops and the boardwalk were very close, as were the clubs, so no unnecessary money was spent on cab fare. The staff was great too. We chose not to go all inclusive, but wish we had. The food was average, but always alot of choices. The only down side was that the beach was very rocky near the water. I have stayed twice at the Buenaventura. I liked the stroll into town each morning. The staff is friendly and the rooms good for the price. We didn't eat there often, but what we had was delicious and well served. Excellent location.

I just spent a week over Easter with my son and 4 of his friends for Spring Break. We all had a great time. This was my 4th time staying at this hotel. It gets better every time. The guys had a great time, food and drinks were great as always. Not one of us went hungry! The beach was alittle rocky but there still recovering from the hurricane in Oct.The staff was excellent, they especially liked Juan and Benny but who wouldn't. According to travel agents, the Buenaventura Hotel (the one close to the Malecon) is given a 3 star rating - what an under-rating that is!This is my 4th vacation in PV since 1996 with a different hotel each time. On 2 previous occasions, we were at a 5-star resort but the distance to downtown PV from Nuevo & Marina was eating into our vacation time which is VERY precious. I don't like to spend 20-30 minutes on a bus or taxi every time I want to go downtown, let alone the extra cost. Our stay during the first week of March was magnificent!... more

We just returned from a week at the Buenaventura Hotel and loved it, we went with the all incusive package and were not dissapointed, The buffets were excellent and the drinks were fine. The rooms, pool areas, lobby etc were very clean. One recommendation is to try to get a room at the ends of the buildings since the late partiers come in very late talking and slamming around.

I just got back from Puerto Vallarta on Mar 26th and I have to tell you how much I loved the Hotel Buenaventura. I have been there two other times, but this time was by far the best. First off, the Buenaventura has the best location of any of the hotels in PV. It is within walking distance of the malecon (boardwalk) and all the clubs and restaurants in town. This was our first time in Mexico and we were very nervous about our stay. We were supposed to stay at the Las Palmas Beach Resort but due to the amount of damage from the hurricane it wasn't ready in time. So we were moved to the Buenaventura. When we pulled up we were even more nervous because the outside looks lika total dump. Once we walked we saw how beautiful it was. This was our first trip to Mexico. We enjoyed the accommodation, the food, drinks and the people. The hotel staff were excellent, friendly and always helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location with access to lots of activity right outside the front door. Our room was comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed the ease of access to a great Ocean beach and the cabanas which were located just below the hotel pool area on the sand.
