We had a lovely short stay in this hotel. It is in such a central position and very good value for money. I managed to leave my mobile phone behind in my room when we moved on and the man at reception was so helpful and actually posted it back to England for me! many thanks, we will be using it again.

This is an ideal centrally located hotel but there are quite alot of steps to negotiate when you are going to the beach and the Square which you should be aware of especially when its very hot so always make sure you've got a bottle of water with you! Its only minutes from... more

Very pleased with our room 213 which had a sea view as requested. Airconditioning, microwave, small fridge, kettle, cups, plates and cutlery. Rooms cleaned and towels changed everyday. Helpful staff especially Anna at the bar room. Breakfast was continental between 8am... more

Stayed here last September. Location is perfect. We didn't hear much noise late at night so we can't complain being so close to the town centre. Breakfast was okay and a cooked breakfast could be had just over the road in Merlins. Staff were very pleasant and helpful... more

This was our 4th stay at this hotel and we have never managed to get the same standard of room as the 1st visit which did have everything as advertised. We knew when we booked that we were not guaranteed a particular room even when we offered to pay in advance directly at... more

I have just returned from a great 10-day holiday staying at this hotel with a friend. Our room (208) had a fantastic view over the Old Town and towards the sea in the near distance - the room was cleaned and the towels were changed each day. We thought the hotel was run... more

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We booked it really cheap and were not expecting much, but it is a friendly hotel with character. Location is perfect, just at the beginning of the old town and close to the bus stop. Rooms small but clean and fully equipped. Bar was... more

Have paid much more for much less
Have just returned from Hotel Vila Recife and booked after reading the reviews. Wasn't disappointed. If you spend alot of your holiday in your hotel then this probably isn't for you. The hotel is basic but very clean. Rooms cleaned and towels changed every day. The pool is not huge and loses the sun by mid-afternoon. Try the roof terrace (take the lift upto te 5th floor) with lovely views over the main square and a few sun loungers. We booked room only so can't comment on the continental breakfast which was served from the bar area and can... more
Vila Recife
This is a nice, friendly, cozy little hotel right next to the heart of Albufeira Old Town. The staff are pleasant and helpful though we didn't really need to speak to anyone with problems as we didn't have any. The pool is on the small side with not a lot of space around it and we never managed to get a bed. We didn't mind as we liked the beach which was really close but friends of ours said it spoilt their time a little bit as they love to lie by the pool. I don't think you would stand a chance of getting near it in the summer. The... more
A great place to stay
Overall this is a fab and inexpensive hotel. Basic room but very clean - with the welcome extra of air-con at no extra cost. We booked B&B so it was a bonus to have a fridge, microwave + kettle in the room, along with plates, cutlery and a bottle opener! There is plenty of storage space and a safe in each room. The staff were all very friendly and spoke fluent english, the receptionist even produced a needle and thread when asked! The pool area is fairly compact - with about 20 sunbeds - half of which in the shade by 2pm and the pool... more
Great location, good hotel
Hotel room was very clean, as was the bathroom. Air-con was much appreciated, and worked, as did the TV and the kettle. Only hot water in the shower for about 2min per day, so I hope you like cold showers! Beds were comfy, and room was cleaned everyday. Towels changed everyday also. Fridge in the room was fantastic to have. Safe in room also. Breakfast was pretty basic-bread rolls, cold meats, cheese, tea, coffee and juice, but it did the trick. Plenty of places around if you fancy a full 'colesterol' breakfast! Swimming pool and... more
nicest place in portugal
My husband and I have just returned from a lovely cheap holiday in Albufeira. We stayed in a small hostal type hotel not being able to get into our usual hotel as it was full and this was a last minute booking. The hotel RECIFE was very clean and in a very good location for beach and shops lovely pool and garden though very hilly as most of portugal is.Breakfast was continental but very nice the buns were always lovely and fresh more than adequate for us. if there is a grumble it is that the water was never hot but that did not spoil our... more
Excellen value for money
Booked our review through activehotels web site, and have yet to be disappointed with a hotel we have booked through it. On the spur of the moment we booked a weekend to the Algarve, Friday 20th Apr to Monday 23rd Apr. Trying to keep costs down, we looked around for a reasonable rated hotel. 3 nights bed and breakfast for my husband and I came to 66euros. For this price we were not expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised. The rooms appear to all be twin, but were fairly large, with a decent bathroom and small balcony. Maid... more
Easter Break
The hotel is perfectly situated for night time forays into the lively old town and walks to the beach to recover the next day. We were a group of four adults and did not mind that there was a little noise at night and that early risers for breakfast could be heard in the corridors which are all tiled. The rooms are clean and well presented, maid service every day ensures that they stay that way and the only complaint that could be made would be that the hot water tank in each room does not allow for a girlfriends twenty minute showers and my... more
Best Holiday Ever
A very nice hotel with a history. Very good location. Many shops, restaurants, bars, etc. and close to the beach. Breakfast very simple, but great alternative at Merlins Bar just across the road!
Excellent
Excellent friendly service! Very well situated--close to old town, restaurants and entertainment places, beach, and highway for access to travel around. Most cost-effective place we staid in Europe so far.
Great Value
Booked this hotel through Alfarooms for €202.00 for the week including continental breakfast. We were not expecting much but were pleasantly suprised. Rooms were smallish but not so you got in each others way. TV, AC, Fridge, Kettle, Utensils and sufficient storage space. Bathroom small but again all you would need and towels changed daily. Rooms very clean and linen changed three times. Breakfast was tea, coffee, breads, cheese, ham, juices, cereals. For a full one cross the street to Eddy's (€4 and better than Merlins next door at... more
