this hotel catered mainly for the french people which the majority of visitors were french !! the entertainment wasnt good but then again we english wouldnt understand it anyway!! food seemed ok at first but by the end of the week we found it very boring and meat wise... more

We have been there in august 2005 for 8 days, the complex is big en has some nice variety's of accommadation. We've booked a hotel room but we've got a very spacious appartment, with a view on the ocean! The appartmant was clean en big, the whole appartment was very old ecept for the bed, airco and couch. The linnen was changed 6 days a week en the cleaning ladies did their work well. But it is 3 stars so nothing to complain about. The swimmingpool is not a beautiful one its a bit sober but clean and you can seek al lot of shade... more
Immature stag party ruined my holiday from Mavis2
Staff were excellent, couldn't be more helpful. We had free drinks, photos etc. Great location, near the beach and two pools (smaller one better and quieter). The only downside was a stag party staying in the same block as us. They were terribly noisy at very early hours of the morning (i,m sure i heard one of them punch a door at one stage and then heard him complain about his bruised knuckles ! They wore offensive outfits in front of children one night during a musical chairs game where they literally took over and broke the... more

Got back from this hotel just over a week ago, went with a large group and found the staff fantastic and very, very helpfull, I cannot believe some of the bad reviews they are getting. As we were a all male party I was expecting to be treated with caution but Marcia and her collegues could not do enough to look after us during our visit. Just got back from a 10 day stay the Monica Isabel Beach Club. Location was great as it was right on the beach but apart from that I would not reccommend it. When we arrived the room we were given was just awful it was noisy, really in need of refurbishment and had a horrible smell like it hadn't been used in ages....so we went to reception who in the end agreed to move us. This room was on the other side of the Hotel so much further away, we asked if someone could help us with our luggage as complex is quite hilly. No one ever turned up to... more

Just got back from a 6 night stay at the Monica Isabel. The hotel is fairly simple but is well located on the beach between the old and new towns of Albufeira. The rooms in the hotel are basic and the bathrooms in need of renovation! The staff in the reception need to go on a course for customer service (ie. a rocket up the back side may help). It would help if they could have more than person on the reception and someone who could understand the need to assist immediately. I just spent a week in Monica Isabel aparthotel in July. The Location was amazing, for me the beach was the highlight. A short 15 minute walk along the beach when the tide is out will take you to the old town of Albufeira.The town has many choices of shops during the daytime and once a week every Tuesday holds a Market. I found the old Town a lovely place, great for families. Also you can walk to the new town of Albufeira which is called The Strip. At night has a wide selection of bars and a good nightlife. Great location, right on the beach. Staff were more than nice......very helpful. We only had breakfast there & it was just fine, no complaints. Very few using the pool because most of them were at the beach, so plenty of room. A short walk along the beach to the peer about 10 mins & you get boat trips, paragliding, banana boats etc. Kids had a great time. Thank you Monica Isabel for giving us a great family holiday. We will stay there again next year. Moya.

spent 10 days laying on its beach ,great view,shotr walk from room. found the service in the main lobby terrible. impaient and at times ignored. breakfasts were good and service at the beach snack bar was great, romms were spacious and clean. improvement needed on how quests are treated at times.

Location: It's 5 minutes walk to the beach that, when the tide is low, you can walk all the way back to Albufeira. Great location. We though we would actually stay in the "Hotel", but actually there are blocks or rooms about 2-5 minutes walk from the main building advertised. We took a room with buffet breakfast (lots of choices). If you go during high season go early rather than later to avoid line-ups.
