Like a sewage works.
from solace
The smell of sewage spoilt this holiday and I don't think it is very healthy. It comes from what they constantly water the gardens with. It seems to work well with the pretty flowers but wasn't at all pleasant, and was like a sewage works. Hotel had a fair bit of noise from the airplanes flying overhead as it is fairly near to the airport runway. There was no draught beer and bottled beer wasn't very palatable. Very few English people at this Hotel and so Television stations were very limited, as were English books on their bookshelves. So come prepared. Hotel was overbooked so were placed in the Albatross Hotel (Sister Hotel) which we didn't like at all. Moved after one night after a lot of hassle. New room had ants, but this was sprayed immediately and seemed to cure the problem. Flies were a real nuisance both round the pool and in the restaurant, mainly because floors and tables were not mopped cleaned properly. Be aware that there is constant nagging from people selling massage, tours and shows several times a day and it does get very irritating. On the plus side, Hotel set in nice grounds and the swimming pools were lovely. One had a wave machine which was fun. Snacks were availble at most times of the day, including some lovely crepes. Hotel was convenient for Hurghada and its shopping centre (15 to20 Egyptian Pounds for taxi outside hotel.)

Over all this Hotel was great for my son(7) and I. Its set on a site with 2 sister hotels were you can use thier facilities, Albatros beach has, as its name suggests, its own beach. Meals have to be taken in your hotel dinnig room, there is a snack bar at the beach and around the pool. I found the food to be well above average for all-inclusive. Beer is all served from bottles, wine you get used to and spirits they all taste the same in these places! Kids help themselves from drink stations, cups of ice cream and bottled water is included. The rooms are a good size and are well cleaned, towels changed every day, beach towels from huts at the pools. There is a mini-bar in the room but is not stocked, so take your own. The slides and pools are great and there are 2 water parks near by, if they are not enough! Entertainment in the evening wasn't all that, but the Russians and Eastern blockers lapped it up. We paid £5 sterling for transfers each way. Hard Rock cafe is good and cheap. Locals didn't hassel us at all, quite the opposite, un-like Sharm ! We didn't do any trips as it was far to HOT! There is a lot to do in Hurghada if you want to. I think its unfair to call Hurghada a dump, a holiday is what you make of it. And a bargin price also helps!

Great Relaxing Week
from bigmonkies
This was my second visit to Egypt but my first time in Hurghada. We were looking for a relaxing week in the sun to re-charge our batteries and thats exactly what we got. The hotel was very good and the cleaniless was excellent. There was a good choice of pools for you to laze by each day if you didn't want to venture to the beach. Our only complaint with the hotel was the food. The number of German and Russian guests majorly outweighed the English so all food was mainly catered to their tastes but they seemed to love it!! We went out into Hurghada town (just a short taxi ride) a few nights and visited the Hard Rock Cafe, the food was so cheap and the staff were excellent. There is a lot of building currently going on in Hurghada so I'm sure this resort will be lot busier in a few years.
Fabulous Place
from Gabrielle04
Second Visit to Eygpt... We arrived in the early evening and the place was stunning. beautifully presented exterior and lobby. check in was smooth and easy. beds were a little hard (but still quite ok). my only objection was that we arrived as two couples and the other couple in our group were located in a room on the opposite side of the pools. that was a little disappointing, but on the whole, if that is the worst thing, life is pretty good! Food was fabulous, plenty of variety. beer was good, spirits were quite strong so had to water them down to taste. Staff were VERY VERY good. rooms were clean, spacious and well presented. It could have been a little closer to the beach, but still walkable distance, and there was a shuttle bus for those lazy afternoons. Good location for all activities. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this hotel. Oh and do not forget to try the desert quad biking! it is FAB!! Gabrielle!
Fantastic AquaBlu
from Flashbolton
The hotel was fantastic. Hardly any Brits wanting chips with eveything, what a bonus!! An ecletic mix of nationalities that can be embraced - we had great evenings with many fellow holiday makers seeking some winter sun and it was great to meet people from Russia and learn something of their country and culture. I travel extensively and globally with work and this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Polite staff, who all speak English and an obsessive dedication to cleanliness. The rooms were very nice as were the attached bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The food was fantastic with an amazing breadth of choice and plently of new dishes to experiment with - we were spoilt for choice and didn't have any health issues even though we ate masses of salad. However, the main restaurant never served chips so if that's your bent this isn't for you!! The drinks were disapointing and poor - we tried the local spirits and wines but couldn't finish any of them. The Egyptian beer was very nice though and you could buy a good bottle of Cabernet for £7. This was the best value for money holday I have ever taken and I am happy to recommend the Aqua Blu without reservation. Wish I was still there....
Too many Germans
from loraine2710
The hotel was lovely, rooms were large, food ok. Egyptans lovely in the hotel, BUT once you came out the hotel you were hassled so much by the shop keepers, We recommend you take a jeep safara and meet the people who live in the desert, it was a great day, When we were there we thought how lucky we are to have electric, gas, water etc, They were lovely people, You also should have a ride on a camel, but make sure you hold on tight. We also went on the Submarine, that was great to sea the fish and corals under the sea. The only complaint we have was that there were loads of Germans at Aqua Blu and the entertainment was for them. I must say that the Clinic there was excellent as my husband was taken ill and the Doctor was very good and so were the lads who work on the beach, who got my husband to the clinic in a wheel chair. So I'd like to Thank them very much as being in a foreign place it was scarey
Fantastic facilities - brits not catered for!

The Aquablu Resort in itself is very impressive. A choice of 7 pools, and use of 4 different water slides. However - only 2 of these pools are usable at this time of year, as they the rest are unheated - including the waterslide landing pool. At the time of our stay, there were approx 35 british guests, sharing the facilities with 550 germans and russians. This in itself wasn't a problem - the fact that the hotel catered for this, was. Most food (particularly breakfast) was prepared specifically for the german/russian guests. The rest of the food was quite bland and was more or less the same each day. The lunch served at the pool bar was a little more appetising - different each day - pizza, burgers, hot dogs and chips. The AI alcohol offered wasn't the best either. The lager was flat, while all the spirits seemed to taste the same! The accomodation was excellent, as were the staff. One piece of advice is to prepare yourself for your arrival into Hurghada, and the welcome you will receive when you walk in the airport. Very confusing, lots of shouting. It will definately help if you obtain your visa before leaving the UK. Over-all, a good holiday, however, the entertainment is lacking - the only place to drink at night is the lobby bar, a wide open space connected directly to reception. Not the most intimate place to wind up the day, and the singer leaves a lot to be desired. Lastly, prepare yourself for a lot of interruptions whilst lazing around the pool, the hotel has massage and day trip people renting space on the resort and they do not leave you alone for one day!
clean,friendly and fantastic
from claireboon
What can i say!! The hotel was fantastic and we had a brilliant time. The staff were friendly and would do anything for you.The food was good and consistant. Lots of rice and veg and meat and lovely salads. The snack bar during the day was good aswell.Plenty of bars to choose from and the swimming facilities were amazing. You have the choice of at least 8 pools including heated pool, wave pool, fun pool and water slides. There were lots of nationalities there germans, russians, french and a few english but dont let this put you off.The rooms were faultless we had a room that slept up to six, it had kitchen with a fridge two seperate rooms(one with king size bed) large bathroom and two balconies(of which were both sea view)the cleaner was in there everyday and our sheets and towels were changed everyday too!! The entertainment team were good and always running round.Alot of the entertainment though was in at least 4 languages and sometimes difficult to follow. They have good entertainment for the kids aswell. There was karaoke, bingo, games, abba show, kids discos, dance lessons, fire eaters, singers things like that. The weather was good but a little cool on a night. One piece of advice is that i would book a transfer back in the uk its easier and also the taxi drivers rip you off. Once you arrive get a visa its only a tenner and its not worth the hassle off security or imigration. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would definately return.
overall the place looked good...but
from bernarduk
on arriving the place looked impressive it's new about 7 months old, however waiting to get our rooms allocated, we decided to use the all incluesive hospitality a g&t and a v&t , couldnt taste the difference horrid!in fact the ai drinks were terrible only the beer was really palletable, we went to our room it was spacious loads of wardrobe space, clean not bad not 4* but sheets done and towels daily which was good, nice balcony area the thing that let this place down however was the food! breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner the same with very little choice we ate out 4 times in seven nights. My wife was ill with a bad tummy from the second day! and is still recovering as we are now home. There were flies everywhere on open food , as you were sunbathing very very annoying .I have two boys ages 12 & 13, who enjoyed the water parks pool areas etc, mini golf was free all day till 5 oclock but was 2 euros each in the evening per hour, ice creams were free but more like sorbet so had to buy them 1 euro and children only can have the free ice'sall in all it was a cheap and cheerful week, wouldn't go back! no where near the 5* we usually use in turkey, the staff however were lovely and it was out of season, they did a barbie evening with decent shows for about 8 pounds didnt go but it was apparently good, taxis availiable to hurghada for 2 pounds each way, food was reasonably priced garlic bread £1 beer £1.50 pizza £3, prices for souvineers haggle like never before haha the place is a russian enclave, perhaps thats why the foods bad but there is lots of amusing people in the lobby bar area in the evenings ( trinny and susanha ) would get a years worth of programmes in a night there is a shuttle bus to the beach, however you can walk, take water shoes so you can walk over the sharpish rocks to the sand, and goggles snorkles ! for the best swimming with fish i'v experienced anywhere. you can eat at the beach and drink there too I would advise not to drink the orange or pinapple in the drinks dispensers, I saw the guy fill them up with powdered drink and tap water !!!! All in all we paid just over £1000 for a week with two rooms so 250 each but i would not recoment this place to anyone
Great Holiday, We read a lot of reviews before going to this resort and found them to be unfair. The food was good, I have fussy children but they always managed to find something to eat. 7 out of 10 of of our party had tummy upsets but this is quite normal for egypt, its... more
