The exterier of this hotel is impressive and we were hopeful of a pleasant stay. The interier however was a very long way from being to the 4star standard. Our room had badly stained carpet and fitments in the bathroom were long past their best and faulty.
The lifts were too small and tatty.
By far the worst aspect however, was the food. In many years of travelling I have never encountered such poor food quality, it was atrocious and the service very poor.
I strongly recommend that you eat elsewhere if you must stay at the Hotel Monopol.
There must be something very wrong with the authorities that have awarded this hotel 4stars. I have stayed in better 2star hotels [of necessity]
