The first sight of the Gala Resort Hotel caused me some concern, it is one of the ugliest buildings I have ever seen it reminded me of a 1960`s concrete block of flats.
Arriving with what seemed to be a plane load of people, check in was done in one of the conference rooms rather than at reception. So imagine our first impressions when we stood in line and were joined by a 3 inch long cockroach, but that was the only time we saw it or any other nasty creature. As for the mosquito’s, you don’t see them !
Rooms were comfortable and air conditioned with a decent well stocked mini bar, safe and decent bathroom.
Restaurants were good but the food got a bit boring after 2 weeks and the speciality restaurants were nothing to shout about. One downside of the main buffet was that they rely on being able to dine outside, however when the weather is as wet as we had it, everyone wants to be indoors and at popular times you have trouble getting a table.
A word of warning to people who like me love the beach rather than the pool, the Pacific can be a dangerous place for kids and weak swimmers. The waves will drag you back into the sea even when you are relaxing on the sun beds!!
The weather was poor for about 50% of the holiday but all in all we enjoyed our stay at the Gala. The staff were friendly and tried their hardest to make us have a good time so we enjoyed our time there but if you ask would we return the simple answer would be NO!

Fantastic! Best holiday I have ever had. It was my honeymoon and we got upgraded to the gold where we got private, pool, beach and waiter service.
Rooms where great with queen sized bed! Great movies on the telly on a nigh when we had finished drinking in the downstairs bar. Food was excellent different buffet every night but always something I would like as I am a fussy eater. No nightlife outside the hotel but we didn’t mind.
Entertainment every night, great for kids, all staff are very helpful and polite. Rooms were cleaned, towels changed and bed turned down every night, money well spent, Thank you Gala!

Hi
This was a lovley place to holiday in Mexico. The surroundings (beach etc..) are amazing. The staff were very nice as was the food, plenty of choice and something for everybody, my children are 7, 5 and 3 and they never complained once.
The beach front hotel is really fantastic and you literally step out of the pool onto the beach. There are rather strong undercurrents in the sea so you need to watch your little ones very carefully, we had ours in life vests all the time.
The fishing trip with Raymond on the beach is fanctastic, we saw dolphins, turtles and my husband caught a 4ft long mahi mahi which was a highlight, the chef at the Gala then cooked if for us at dinner, it was amazing.
The other trips, to the magic waterfalls and jungle are really worth the money, take plently of repelent with you though. The kids loved treching through the jungle and having a meal in the coffee plantation.
The evening entertainment is fairly average and there is no bar on hand so you have to walk round the pools to get to it if you want to watch and drink. The "Greece" night was excellent as was the Michael Jackson impersonator.
I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants to experiece the real Mexico and we will definatly go back again.
