A Fabulous Week!!
This hotel was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would love to return to this area again. From the moment you arrive at the airport, it is apparent the type of service you are about to receive. Smiles and helping hands are everywhere. As soon as we arrived at the hotel lobby (which gave us the ultimate view of the pool and ocean within seconds) we were able to check-in and get to our room immediately. Our room was a gardenview (#3451) and we were also able to see the pool and the ocean from our balcony. The rooms were... more
Good but not great
Some travel sites brochures were listing this as 4, 4.5 or 5 stars but if you go expecting this level you will be disappointed. Check in was quick and efficient, our bags arrived at our room almost simultaneous to us. The room initially seemed a little musty smelling but either we got used to it or the a/c got rid of it; in any event we didn't travel all that way to sit in our room. The activities staff were all very friendly and there was lots to do for those so inclined. Most of the wait staff were also very friendly but efficency/accuracy... more
Pure Paradise...
We have read many reviews about this hotel on Trip Advisor - all were very helpful to us in learning about this venue and deciding where to stay. We just got back from Ixtapa - stayed 7 nights Feb 6-13th. This was our first visit to Mexico and we loved every minute of it. We had an oceanfront view room in the tower on the 18th floor - as we arrived quite late a night we didn't appreciate the view until the next morning, which took our breath away. Absolutely incredible - this hotel is centrally located among all of the other hotels so we... more
Excellent All Inclusive
My wife and I are 30 something, no kids, career orientated people who were looking for a relaxing, all-inclusive holiday with the option to explore and be active. For what we paid, we expected a 4+ Hotel and location. We definitely found what we were looking for in the Presidente Intercontinental Ixtapa. We stayed at the Presidente from Jan 31 till Feb 7th. We booked through a friend at Marlin Travel (but could have booked it through Expedia) and got the package with World of Vacations. The flight was direct from Calgary to Zihuat with... more
Room for improvement
This is a nice resort in a beautiful setting, but unfortunately it lacks the attention to detail that could make it a great resort. After experiencing various problems several times during our stay, we asked to be moved to another room. Each time we asked, we were given an excuse. After a while we gave up asking. Arriving in our room, the first thing we noticed was the absence of most of the amenities we have come to expect in an 4+ all-inclusive: - no mini-bar - no in-room safe - not even any "artwork" on the walls - no hair-drier... more
A couple of tips
My wife myself and two daughters (ages 10 and 15) had a lovely time from Jan 10-17 this year. What everybody else has to say about this place is true, it's a great value. A couple of extra things we found which made our trip special: we found the Bay internet lounge and cafe across the road from the hotel and one hour internet access there was cheaper and nicer then 5 minutes in the hotel. It is upstairs and across from Franks restaurant. We also met a personal tour guide named Jose Luis DeLaMaza, who does very small and personal guided... more
Sooo relaxing
This was our first trip to an all inclusive and I must say it was a fantastic experience. Intercontinental is in a great location. You can walk across the street to shops, markets, and restaurants. The market by the Navy hospital was the best. Ixtapa is very safe. Intercontinental is is the middle of the Hotel Zone and you can walk the beach or the bike path to the Harbor. The hotel food was fantastic. Rooms were very clean and staff was always willing to assist in any way. I recommend the superior pool view room. These rooms are... more

We went the last week in January 2004 just returned had a great time the hotel is very nice the food was ok some dinners better than others. The service very good comunication not as good as some other places we have been, they seem to smile and say yes to things but dont do it or dont understand the room small but clean it was a great hotel very good location. Make sure you take the cable cars up to the restraunt on the hill very nice good food also. This was our second trip to Ixtapa would definatly go back and stay at the same hotel... more
Wow!
My wife and I just got back from 8 days in Ixtapa with some friends and WOW! The hotel was great, the service was unreal. (If you like sitting on the beach, the Presidente has a sever by the name of Victor who was unbelieveable, a definite highlight of the trip). The activities staff was really nice and keeped you busy... if your into activities, which we all were. I noticed that we were quite a bit younger then most of the guest (26ish, going on 50) and we had a fantastic time. If your looking for a hopping club scene go to Cancun, if your... more
Just Got Back!
My husband, myself and our two kids (ages 2 & 5) just returned from Ixtapa on January 16th. This was our first time to Ixtapa and would definitely go back. We had been reading the reviews prior to our departure and frankly I don't know what people had to complain about. The food was quite good and had lots of variety. The drinks were excellent. The pools were great and had lots of lounge chairs. The kids club playground is ancient but kids don't need state of the art equipment to have fun. There were vidoes, games and lots of arts and... more
