Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa Hotel

The service at this hotel is very good. Some of the furnishings need updating (very hard beds), but the rooms are clean and will do for the not-to-pickey traveler. They were remodeling the pool area when we were there, so there is hope of future improvements. The Ixtapa/Zihautenejo area is still relatively un-americanized and it helps to speak a little spanish. This will be a nice change of pace from the ultratouristy Cancun and the like.

Just returned from the Dorado Pacifico (April 17-21) and had a wonderful time!! Hotel is very nice, it's nothing super fancy, but it's very clean and adequate with fabulous ocean views. The staff is very friendly (as are all the people we encountered in Ixtapa) and the location is wonderful. Right on the beach about dead center and from the front of the hotel you are just across the street from town. I stayed at the Dorado March 13-20 and had a wonderful experience. Everyone was very friendly and very happy to make my stay (and everyone around me) happy. We decided on a Junior Suite and it was great. 15th floor was perfect as you could see for miles a spectacular view. We have stayed all over the country in beautiful hotels...Four Seasons, St. Regis, ect... and we enjoyed the Dorado completely. This was our first time in Ixtapa. Brought our daughters, aged 15, 14 and 11 - and we all had a wonderful time! We hated to leave. The pool area, swim up bar and beach were all very clean. Lots of fun at the pool for all ages - we loved Edgar (Eddy) the "pool recreation" leader. - Rooms were cleaned daily. Toilet in our room blocked up a couple times and they came right up and fixed it. We absolutly loved everything about the hotel. The staff was all very friendly - Yes, you could hear the piano but thought it was a nice way to go to sleep.... more

Stayed march 12-19,2004 We had an awsome time, met great people, and even parasailed!!! second time here. Very nice clean room, ocean view. Ate almost everywhere. Best was Beer time, had just opened 2 weeks earlier. Very good. Also, can't go wrong at the marina for dinner. be careful of the piano bar at the marina though, expensive drinks and they add the tip. Will go back again, but in a few years. Three kids in college this next year!!!

I don't think there is enough room here to relate how bad this hotel really is. From the moment we got to the front desk, there was issue after issue. First of all, the hotel itself is run down and dirty-I don't think they ever clean any of the glass, and there were dirty linens in the hall. We had to switch rooms because our balcony overlooked a roof and a maintenance entrance(which was very loud at night). The first bathroom wasn't even clean, and there was an open soap in the shower. Just a wonderful time, don't get caught up in all the applevacation tours, just go yourself to la playa to go to Ixtapa Island, or to go to las gatas for snorkeling. great food ,and great service at this hotel!!

Just returned from a wonderful week 3/20/04. I have visited Mexico areas for 12 plus years and this was our favorite! Nice and clean, great staff and wonderful weather- We had a balcony room over looking the ocean. For those who complain about getting up at 5:30 AM to get a pool chair- it is part of the game. You can't sleep in till noon and expect to get a prime seat! A previous review mentioned that thier room need repairs and the had to wait for this to happen- We had a small water leak and within 2 hours of notifing the front desk it was... more

Just returned from our second trip to the Dorado Pacifico and, once again, we had a fabulous time! Our room was on the 15th floor looking down toward the marina...absolutely perfect for the beautiful sunsets. The room was freshly painted and spacious. The staff, from the reception area to housekeeping, could not do enough for you. Special thanks to Cesar, our beach service person who waits on EVERYONE at the beach palapas...always with a smile! Going back to the Dorado early February and can't wait! Fourth time in 5 years. Missed last year, big mistake. Went to Riviera Maya and it wasn't the same. Weather in Ixtapa is perfect in February. Lots of friendly people by the swim-up bar and the staff is very friendly. Jorge the bartender is a RIOT. Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo are not modern cities but a great place to relax and enjoy the weather!
