Don't worry, Radisson not all that bad
Just got back from the Radisson in Ixtapa. I was really worried after reading all the negative reviews....but its not that bad. Its definately not a five star hotel.... you will not be waited on and the service is slow, but friendly, it does not have alot of extra ammenties but it is clean, has large oceanview rooms, a great pool, and a nice, beautiful location on the beach. You can walk to many restaurants from the hotel, many which are very reasonable and very good. My biggest complaint was that they charged you for bottle water even if... more
Hotel ok but bad food
We returned March 5 2004.The hotel was good, rooms were clean and we had a great veiw of the pool and the ocean. We,ve been on about 15 trips and this was our worst of all but still ok.We had the all-inclusive and the food was terrible-do not recommend, there are alot of resonable places to eat close to the hotel. The drink only option would be ok.We,ve been to Mexico 4 times before and never got sick before but there must have been something in the food or drink as we both got diarrea and had to get medication. The drinks quit being served at... more
A Great Place...Unless You're Spoiled
The worse thing about our family stay at the Radisson in Ixtapa was reading the negative reviews posted here...then again it could have been the best thing. We were worried about our trip after reading these negative reviews; friends and family consoled us and told us to just make the best of it. Many years earlier we stayed in Zihua at the Sotavento and we thought, well if this trip is a bust, at least we'll have those good memories. Enter Ixtapa and the Radisson. It was apparent as we took our cab ride to the Radisson from the airport that... more
Great Vacation!
I stayed at the Radisson last year for what was supposed to be a 10 day vacation, but we ended up extending it to 13 days. The Radisson is not a LUXURIOUS 'resort', nor is it advertised that way, but the staff and the grounds are beautiful and we had the BEST time. We're getting ready to go to the Dominican Repub. and I've read such mixed reviews I was starting to get nervous, so I decided to see what ppl were saying about what I thought was a FAB. vacation last time...it's all in the eye of the beholder and half of the experience is... more
It is what you make out to be
The Radisson was a nice resort. Remember this is Mexico. Our room was very clean. We were on the 11th floor and had a wonderful view of the ocean and pool area. The food at the hotel was ok but the snack bar food was really good. We found so many good restaurants in Ixtapa. We only had one bad meal so that wasn't to bad. We had the best breakfast at "Mama Normas and Deborah's". But you can explore and find so many restaurants. The staff was really friendly and at your service. The drinks I think were really good and not watered down. The... more
Surprisingly good service - a 3+ all around
We just returned Saturday from a week at the Radisson Ixtapa and I just HAD to write. We had a great time!! I will start with the positives about the hotel, of which there are many! The service was FANTASTIC! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful as was the bar staff. We had the drink inclusive option and had heard that it was hard to get service. Not true! Any time we wanted a drink we had a server who was happy to help and the service was quick. The paperwork that everyone talks about was a quick, two second signature and not... more
Why is everyone unhappy here?????
It is beyond me what people are griping about? This is Mexico!!! If you want American Five Star than don't go to Mexico!!! We thought the hotel was great! We had a clean, well furnished room. The air conditioning worked great. We had a great view from our balcony. The elevators were fine. A little quirky sometimes. But we only waited once while they unloaded new furnishings on an upper floor. We were on the eighth floor and always had a elevator either way. The towel system was fine. You simply get one beach towel a day and had to turn it in... more
What a dump!
This was our 3rd time to Ixtapa, but 1st and last time at the Radisson. We like the idea of trying out a different hotel each time, but are now re-thinking that decision. We stayed one night, and then quickly changed hotels for the rest of our week stay. The Radisson should seriously re-think putting their name on that hotel. It is so run down and dirty that I couldn't believe it was still a Radisson. When we first entered our room, we were overwhelmed with a musty, moldy smell (and actually, the entire hallway smelled moldy). The... more
Nice quiet area, bad resort
I just got back from a trip to Ixtapa from March 6-13.The area in general is OK, but the hotel we stayed at, the Radisson, which was reported as a "4 star" hotel, is a dump!We had bugs in our room, by the 4th day, they left a letter saying they wanted to fumigate as part of their monthly schedule! Why couldn't they take care of that before we checked in?One of three elevators has been broke down for over a year, according to other visitors. The other two either slammed people with the doors or forgot what button you pushed. We had light bulbs... more
"You get what you pay for"
Overall a petty good value...keep this in mind when comparing to other resorts. For $850.00 from Milwaukee including everything except meals, I felt that we definitely got a deal. Rooms were old but clean, housekeeping did a great job while we were there. Bar closes by 11:00 pm and service was slo-o-o-w, but when it's free I guess that's the "catch". Pool was great, clean and fun for all ages. Towel service is strange, but once you understand the system...it's pretty easy to deal with. Music by the pool left something to be desired, hoping... more
