Best Western Posada Real Hotel

My husband and I travelled to Ixtapa for 7 days - first time in Mexico. We had the breakfast plan which enabled us to have dinner anywhere we wanted. The breakfast was always delicious. Also, we often ate a mid-afternoon snack with a couple cervasas - the beef tenderloin was excellent! Jan 16/06 We spent 4 days at the Posada Real Dec 27th to Dec 31/05. I wish someone had told me how small the rooms were, they were exactly as pictured on their web site, but too small for 4 people and their luggage. We had to get a second room. The beds really are rock hard too! The hotel was clean, staff was friendly although not all spoke english. Most of the guests at this time of year were spanish. This is not the first time I have stayed at this hotel and it certainly has its good points; I love the pool and the beach area and in general have found the staff to be helpful and the service good. We didn´t use the restaurant facilities so can´t comment on that front but it is so easy to go for a wander in town that we tend to eat out....watch out for the timeshare people on every corner though! I just have to say that the Posada Real, Ixtapa is one of the pearls of the Pacific Coast. We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and are very happy. The staff is very attentive to our needs, the rooms are kept very clean and the wait staff prompt to serve us. I must say that the staff at the Posada is very courteous too! Over the years we have not encountered any problems or situations that have detered us from staying here on our vacations in Mexico. I would highy recommend this hotel. We have been to Ixtapa several times and this is the 3rd time to Posada Real. We keep returning to the Posada because of the value. Like many others have mentioned their breakfast is always good. We usually ate lunch at poolside. The lunch items are good. On par with an applebees or a fridays. I dont think we have ever eaten our supper at the hotel. We have always gone out in the evening for that. You cant beat the pool I know many others that have gone to the other hotels and had to wait in line the night before to get a choice table... more

I wasn't so sure about this hotel when I booked it, but was amazed by the excellent customer service and cleanliness. The pool definately came in handy since the tide was too rough for us to swim in the ocean and the lifeguard wouldn't let us. The breakfast is good, but the rest of the menu could be passed up. The swim up bar wasn't operating when we were there (5/04), but the waiters and bartenders remembered what we liked and were prompt. My husband and I stayed here March 30 - April 6 and would return. The Posada Real isn't an extrvagent hotel, but that's not what we went to Mexico for. Everyday we thoroughly enjoyed the pool, the beach and the swim up bar. Besides breakfast, the food wasn't that great, but we wanted to explore other areas anyway. Our family visited this property in Ixtapa on March 2005. We stayed in 8 rooms all of wich were located in what looked like the basement of the hotel. We asked for a room for my father who sufferd a stroke and lost mobility but the receptionist said all rooms were the same and had no facilities for the physically challanged, when we manifested our insatisfaction with the hotel they became very rude and said we had many other hotels to choose from, THAT we WILL do!! . Just returned from 5 days at the BW Posada Real Ixtapa. Great pool, great beach, food service and selections not the greatest. Do not go for the daily special of lobster and steak, totally disgusting, even though we were offered a different selection, we had for the most part lost our appetite. Checked with a few other hotel patrons and they totally agreed the restaurant food, other than breakfast, was not good. Basicaly you get what you pay for, Booked the room on line with Best Western, not a problem, Their Beach is probably the best around, The pool was perfect- it ends there. Just got back 3-2-05 after five nights, The web site is misleading about bottled water you do have to pay for it. I have been to mexico many times, bottled water is a must.
