Playa Mazatlan Hotel

January 2004. This was our third trip, in five years, to Mazatlan. As usual, we stayed in the Hotel Playa. We are impressed with the general cleanliness of the Hotel (someone seems to be always mopping, wiping, sweeping or cleaning - the common areas) and the friendly and informative hotel Staff. We had a nice time at the Playa over Christmas. All the compliments already noted here are true. But one main caveat: if you like a quiet room after 10-11 p.m. this is not the place. It is next door to a loud bar on the beach and across from clubs and restaurants. It did not quiet down until 2-3 a.m. So if you are there to party the night away, it's a perfect place!

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and very clean! Excellent location! Food and entertainment were awesome! We loved every bit of our 4 night stay! Highly recommended!

We're going back! Wonderful beach, view, location. Hard to believe such a large hotel seems so quaint. For the price, the best buy we've found in 12+ trips to Mexico.

great location, really clean, staff really friendly. Bed was a bit hard though. Has a raised bit of beach area, which was good, it stopped the hawkers bothering us. Not sure if was worth the price of the room, as the room was a bit noisy. the hotel cleaning staff started at around 7am and did not speak in low tones!! The Playa Hotel is likly the best hotel, in the best location in Mazatlan. So close to all the clubs and resturants, as well as the shops and great beach. The rooms, thought not the newest, have all the space you need and are always clean. Not many TV chanels, but you do get CNN and 2 sports networks, not to mention some steamy Mexican Soaps (they were actually shoting one in the hotel while we were there, have no idea who the stars were but interesting to watch.) Beautiful hotel, with a great location on one of the only protected beaches of Mexico. A great location with an awe-inspiring sunset every night. Close to many nice restaurants, and great discoteca's. Recommended is eating at Pancho's. Hotel has 4 pools, and 1 hot-tub, a gym, stores, ice-cream shop, 2 restaurants, and on beach palapas! Would never stay at another hotel in Mazatlan

Getting ready to go to Mazatlan in February and just had to share after reading all these great reviews. Everyone: believe these reviews! The last time we were in Mazatlan was in 1999. We had gone for five years in a row and always stayed at the Playa. It is great to hear that the grounds, staff and hotel is still up to the immaculate, incredible standards that it was in 1999. Dec 13-20/03 to sunny warm skies. The hotel staff went above and beyond to accomodate us on arrival. The ocean-view room was clean, comfortable. The cleaning staff was fast/efficient. We were able to spend all our holiday working on our tans and NOT worrying about the hotel. You will not regret staying here. Visit with ROMAN...he's the waiter at the poolside cantina.
