I thought the palace was a blast. One of my funnest vacations yet. Here's a little tip, TIP the bartender and waiters and you'll get whatever you want including a shrimp dinner. After a night at the Roxy take the waiters with you they'll get you in the clubs for free. As far as the funky smell goes I've yet to stay in Mexico and not find funky smells. The food is ok but gets tiresome at the end. Go across the street for Cheap shrimp and tacos.
Oceano Palace Great Value
My Wife and I and two other couples stayed at the Oceano Palace from 3/14 to 3/21. I don't know what Oceano Palace the other people stayed at that are knocking the place, but the Oceano Palace our party stayed at was a fantastic value. For what we paid for our week in paradise we had clean comfortable rooms with a fantastic view. the beech was good, but it could have been kept a little cleaner. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The drinks were plentiful and not watered down. The food was not fantastic, but was good,... more
Don't expect luxury
Me and a friend stayed at the Oceano Palace for a week. It was definitely not comfortable but good enough to stay at if you're not planning on spending much time in your room. The beds were hard, there was no clock in the room, and the staff could be rude at times. I suggest bringing your own pillow case and soap because most of the hotel pillow cases had stains on them and the soap in the shower had been used. We did not have all-inclusive so we mainly used the hotel to sleep at, but the beach in front is great and we spent alot of time... more
A poor hotel managment
I would rate the HOTEL MANAGMENT as POOR. There are not cleaned floors, stinky elevators, smelly towels, and dirty bed sheets. All-inclusive food was good, although I got food poisened the day we were leaving. The waiters are OK, just generally have not very carring attitude. The entertiment team is working hard, but shows are short (appr. 30-40 min. of boring dancing and lip singing), and there is not much of audience involment and participation (except Mr. Palace night). Although the comic show was very funny (a blind guy on the... more
oceano palace family spring break
My family and I just returned from a week at the Oceano Palace and feel that it was just short of okay. My husband and I stayed at this property in March of 2002 and found it quite pleasant for the price however this time around with our 2 children ages 20 and 18 was quite differnet. We were all inclusive this time and had a beautiful veiw from our end room suit and adjoining double bedroom which the kids shared. When we arrived and were shown to our rooms we found that one of the doors had been kicked in and would not lock and that... more
great time
I just got back from Mazatlan 3 days ago, and we stayed at Oceano Palace. I have never had such a great time!! We were treated like queens around the Oceano. The drinks were definately NOT watered down. I had trouble drinking some of them because they were so strong. Maybe a little tipping would help those who thought that the drinks were watered down. The pool was at a perfect temperature the whole week, and the staff was off the wall! They were always trying to help us stay happy and made sure we got quality service! They even helped us... more
good
for the price you pay, this is a pretty good hotel. the staff who work there are very friendly, and they begin to know your face. the bartenders are also very friendly. the room itself isnt all that great. the beds are pretty hard and the sheets and covers could be a little cleaner. other than that, the rooms were alright. the view was amazing.. you can see the ocean, the beach, the pool, and the people that are down there from the balcony. the tv doesnt have too many channels, but theres still a few. the hallways and elevators... more
Go! Go ! Go !
As soon as i stepped off that bus and saw the patio overlooking the ocean, i knew i was in heaven! the bus takes you from the airport to the hotel and their is a travel guide that tells you the best places to shop, to eat, the nightlife, explains bardaring to you. The staff at the hotel were awesome! by the end of the week you know them all by name and they joke around with you. THey have great activities set up all day, beach volleyball, aqua arobics in the pool, spanish lessons, stretching classes and this is all included. The bartender... more
Disappointed
We were disappointed; upon arriving we found the bus parked in the street instead of driving up to the The person at the check in counter had a package on us; one key, three towel cards, and put a white wrist band on us. guess they wanted to mark us as non inclusive. We had ocean front that was nice but found problems with the shower; build up lip was not high enough and the curtain let the water flood the bathroom. Towels weren't replaced several days and had to ask for them late, after supper, and was told to come after them. Not our job.... more
Would go again in a heart beat!
I went to Mazatlan by myself, left the family at home. As a woman traveling alone I felt very safe at the Oceano palace. I didn't do the all inclusive but did eat at the hotel once, the food was so-so. There are absolutely fantastic restaurants all around the hotel however, The Palace was the one I visited the most for breakfast and dinner. The food was wonderful and inexpensive. My room was great with an ocean view, which meant I went to sleep hearing the ocean and woke up hearing the ocean. The room was clean and I had clean towels... more
