Villa Blanca Garden Beach Hotel

Just came back from Cozumel. VB is a great deal for the money my wife and I stayed there for 4 nights. Room is clean, AC works fine, the fact about hot water is true, does not come out hot all the time, but we did not mind at all. It was 90+ degress weather, after retuning from the beach, a warm hot shower it seemed just prefect. We stayed in a superior room for the first 3 nights then we went to Playa del Carmen, we decided to come back for our last night in the island to VB. Courteous desk clerk accommodated an early morning arrival. The room was ready. Try that at almost any other hotel in Cozumel. The room was cool and clean. Garden setting and no loud drunken parties. If you're looking for that don't stay here. $3 or $4 taxi to the Plaza. Across the road from a dive shop with a pier. Many dive shops will pick up divers from this pier. We just got back from our vacation in Cozumel. We stayed at the Villblanca Garden Beach, and quite honestly, it was really close to what we expected. This hotel is somewhat out of town, which is what we like. It is peaceful and quiet, and not too far from town. There is a restaurant next door which serves three meals/day and is very good. The rooms were very clean and tidy, and were well kept each day by the maid service. Villablanca Hotel, was a hotel we won on Sky Auction. We read the reviews before we bid. And were very pleased with our stay. The hotel was very clean, daily maid service was great. Small towel animals were placed on our beds daily. The hotel is right across the street from Papa Hogs Diving Pier, were the boats take you out to go scuba diving. I stayed in a Standard room at the Villablanca for five nights in mid April, and was not disappointed. I think much of the perception of this place has to do with what kind of expectations a person goes in with. A few things a person should keep in mind before booking at this hotel - 1)It is in MEXICO. I had horrible experience at Villa Blanca early April 2005 and recommend no one stay there unless they are truly desperate for a room in Cozumel because I believe you will regret making this selection. We had reservations at a much more expensive hotel and 2 days before departure we are told that they overbooked and Villablanca is the only hotel on the island that can take us. The reviews of this hotel made me very cautious but I must say that they went out of their way to make us happy. The first night there they put us in a room that they do not normally use, but it was the only one that they had open. Ok, first you have to remember that you are in a different country and once you get this in your head the Villa Blanca will be the top choice place to stay. It was close enough to town and far enough out of the way from the cruisers. The rooms clean with excellent maid service. Cute towel animals everyday! We love Cozumel and have stayed at several very nice resorts on the island. We booked a last -minute trip in August and spent five days at the Villablanca. The location is good, especially if you like snorkeling, as there is great snorkeling right across the street off the Villablanca Reef. I booked the standard room. Oh, my god, the standard room is worse than hostel. I had stayed in bed and breakfast places and hostels in Europe and Asia, and had never seen anything worse than its standard room. I complained and shifted to another standard room, not much better.
