I liked it.
This hotel is downtown which didn't bother me as there are a lot of inexpensive restraunts and taco stands near by. I have been to Cancun before and wanted to stay away from the tourist zone and get some culture on this trip. The area has some apartment buidings which we called the projects near by with some grafitti. The neighborhood is safe, we walked up and down the streets late at nigtht without problems, everyone we ran across was real nice. The hotel is constructed of block and tile so the sounds bounce all over and it can be noisy, I... more
Great value for your Money....
We´ve been there last December two nights before leaving the Mayan Riviere zone, and it was a nice and pleasant surprise. Rooms were very clean, not luxury just OK, TV Cable, AC and the best: Restaurant has excelent Food at Very Reasonable prices, i recommend if you are good eaters a "Mariscada" for two persons, with many shrimps, crab meat and other sea foods with lemon and salads, two coronita beer included for only about 20 dollars. We rented whit avis a car and moved easily to the Hotel zone at night Coco Bongo, many Bars Discos... more
Good value, very clean
We spent one night at Terracaribe in Dec. 2006. The room was nothing fancy, but very clean, it had TV, cable, phone and AC. The bathroom was also very clean. The hotel is in the downtown area, so not on the strip of (terrible) hotels mushroomed on the beach area. Most of all, the hotel was great value for the money, especially good if you have a car and can drive around. It's not far from some good restaurants in the downtown area. I'd recommend it especially for a short stay (if you're flying in-out of Cancun).
Great budget hotel in downtown Cancun
We spent the first two nights of our stay in Cancun at the Terracaribe, because we had to arrive two days before the rest of my family, who had rented several rooms in a Hotel Zone hotel. The location of the Terracaribe isn't terribly convenient to anything you might want to see in downtown Cancun, so you will have to take busses or taxis nearly everywhere unless you like to walk really long distances. The neighborhood is mostly residential and a bit down at the heels, but it seems perfectly safe. It's at a busy intersection, with a... more
An Excellent Choice on a Limited Budget
A great budet hotel away from the hotel zone. The hotel didn't look too good from the outside, but inside public areas were well taken care of. The room was larger than expected and very clean, but sparce. No decorations like in pictures (still remodeling from last year's hurricane?) Beds were firm but comfortable. We ended up on street side, but were not overly bothered by a.m. street noise. Staff, front desk personnel and others were of tremendous help in answering questions and advising on activities, and were over-all very friendly.... more
Great affordable little place
This is a great little hotel in the Cancun area. My wife and I were looking to book a place for one night in Cancun without paying an arm and a leg. This was just the ticket. It is not very fancy, but I think we paid something like $40 for a night. It was very clean and had a small pool. The location is not the greatest. It is not in downtown or on the hotel zone. It is pretty close to the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Basically it you want to go anywhere you need to catch a cab. If I went to back to Cancun I would stay there again.... more
One night stay
We stayed only 1 night at the hotel, because we arrived at midnight with the aeroplane and we went next day to another place near Akumal. We booked at this hotel because of the price and because we had to leave next day so we didn't need the beach. The hotel is average. The photos look nicer at the internet, than it is for real. A 3 star hotel, but with the problem of too much noise during the night. We had the room at the street and in the morning we woke up early, because of the traffic that passed by. Maybe next time we will... more
Budget adventure not boutique luxury
My wife and I stayed at the terrracaribe in June and our opinion is mixed. First the positives. The hotel is very well maintained and in general, very clean. The restaurant is inexpensive and surprisingly good. The location is quite convenient. You can be on the ferry to Isla in no time and on a bus to the hotel zone straight away in front of the hotel. The pool is a nice touch. Some of the staff were helpful and chatty. You will experience the real Mexico here as the hotel is in a working class section of Cancun. This area is... more
Fantastic Experience!
My stay at the Terracaribe was fantastic! I was in the city on business and wanted to keep my budget tight. Being skeptical of what I had booked as I had never stayed in downtown, I arrived at the hotel (which is actually outside of downtown) and was pleasantly surprized! The hotel is small - 44 rooms - and was VERY CLEAN! The single rooms are small and the bed was comfortable. As with most beds in Mexico, they are short, so if you are tall, your feet may hang off. :) The pool is small, however the setting is nice! This would be a perfect... more
Great inexpensive clean place to stay
We stayed from June 28th to July 3rd 2006. It was a short trip from the airport and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The pool is small but we went out a lot anyway. Rooms were clean and the air works great. No elevator so ask for the floor you want (we walked up to the 3rd and my knees didn't like it). You must eat at the restraunt, you will not be sorry. The food is excellent and very cheap. I wish I'd taken pictures of our food but didn't. I can tell you we both ate a wonderful dinner and the total bill was 21.00 USD. The hotel... more
