I went here for New Year's with my boyfriend. We really loved it! We got a really good deal on AAA so the price was much cheaper than other hotels for the few days over the holiday. And then we went to the Camino Real for the rest of the week. Although we had the discounted rate, we got upgraded to the pink tower without even asking, which had absolutely breathtaking views of the beach from a really wonderful balcony. if you get the chance to go, do! ignore the bad reviews, you will have a great time. more swimming pools than you can ever use. miles and miles of beach. plenty of areas to sun: beach, pool. lagoon, etc. staff is friendly. great fitness center, tennis courts. ask to be upgraded to the premier pink building for a fabulous room that is quiet. one con: the food is terrible and overpriced. not at all westin quality. however, you can hop on the bus and go into town or walk on the beach to plenty of other hotels/restaurants.<br... more

We were here from January 20-25 This resort was absolutely gorgeous! Every day, we found a new swimming pool and the rooms were pristine and well-kept. We got a great price on priceline ($75/night), which made it even better. The hotel's architecture is airy and grandiose -- however, it is located at km 20, which is pretty far from the action.. there are only two resorts after the westin on the island, that's how far away it is. Just back from 8 nights (mid feb. ) at the Westin Regina. As with all hotels there are pros and cons. If you have a chance to stay elsewhere you should do so. This hotel should be renamed the holiday inn because that is what the hotel resembles. When you stay at a Westin they are known for first-class service that is not true in this case.

Just returned from staying at the Westin in Cancun over Christmas. I have been to a lot of Westins, since I am a starwood member. Although I found the staff at the Westin very nice, the hotel has many problems. First off, it is very far from midtown Cancun. A taxi ride will cost you $15.00 into Cancun and $15.00 back to the hotel. So before you even have dinner, you have already spent $30.00. The food at the hotel is unbearable and expensive. My wife and I were sent to this hotel for the day when our flight was delayed. So, we did not actually stay overnight so I can't speak to the quality of the rooms. We had stayed at the Riu Palace for a week and we were astonished by the lack of quality at the Westin Regina Cancun: Food: The main resturant (Playamar?) was terrible. I stayed at the Westin Regina on Nov. 23-30. I have been to Cancun before and previously stayed at the Fiesta Americana Condesa (wonderful hotel by the way). I was extremely reluctant to stay at the Westin based on some of the reviews I have read on this site and an additional site.
