Fiesta Americana Cozumel Hotel

My boyfriend and I went there from Aug. 21-30 and it was a mixed vacation. We got there and were checked into a nice room with a great view of the ocean. (go for 5th floor or higher). We were able to eat right away and the food was good. However, this place seems to cater to numbers and once the number of people dropped, so did the service. My husband and I had a good and bad experience with Fiesta Americana. Starting with the positive, our housekeeper did and excellent job keeping our room clean and well stocked with towels. Our pool waiter was excellent, although we were all inclusive we still tipped him and he went above and beyond our expectations. The bar/pool staff was great. We enjoyed the pool very much. We went to Cozumel for the first time in June 2003 for a relaxing vacation in the sun. We picked this hotel based on reviews and our budget. We loved it the minute we arrived. The hotel is in excellent condition, a great view from the balcony, the pool is wonderful, and the staff is friendly. The location is far enough away from town to enjoy some serenity, and very close to the reefs. The snorkeling right at the hotel was also excellent. The Fiesta Americana was a terrific place to stay for our trip in Cozumel and I would reccommend it. An excellent all-inclusive resort! The location is great and the cab rides to town were only $6. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The rooms were bright and spacious with a pull-out couch and balcony with table and chairs, as well a nice views of the sea. I had a laugh in reading some of the reviews. My husband and I first visited the Americana in 1994 on our honeymoon. The first day in we were tired and hot, had to wait in line to check into the hotel and then wait for a room (as check-in is 3:00pm!). So we went down to the restaurant for lunch, ordered nachos (what an unpleasant suprise) and took in the view. Returned from Coz this June. This is the second year I have stayed at this resort. We go in the off season, so the hotel is not that crowded. Our primary activity is diving. This hotel is ideal for divers as it is much closer to the dive sites than staying in San Miguel. The hotel has its own dock and you can have your dive operator pick you up there, if you don't use Dive House, which is the onsite dive shop. I go with a dive club and we get a pretty good deal. A friendly, fun, very Mexican hotel that we thoroughly enjoyed. Not Ritz Carlton perfection but the kind of place we found ourselves enjoying more each day. Service is excellent; they have drink and foodservice even on their sandy beach as well as around the pools. A lifetime friend and I took a girls vacation to Cozumel on a whim. We are inexperienced snorkelers. There could not have been a better location. The snorkeling directly across from the hotel was marvelous, as a matter of fact, several of the "pay for' snorkeling tours from the huge catamaran and other boats brought their tours to this location-the same area I could snorkel for free!
