I recently went to Acapulco for the New Year. I went with my friend who lives in Mexico City and trusting him and his many years of travel to Acapulco, I trusted him. Needless to say I should have asked more questions. Yes it is across the street from the beach..yes it is across the street from or very close to some great night clubs and the view is amazing, but the staff was not helpful..the rooms are not insulated very well so the noise from those wonderful nightclubs could be heard well into the morning. I guess what I'm telling you...

Avoid at all costs !!!
from bigmutt
It was cheap ($70 per night) but I'd rather sleep on the beach. Noise was horrible; elevators took literally 20 minutes; room smelled of urine; no hot water during our 3 days; complaints to management generated repairmen visits to room but nothing ever was fixed; amenities listed were not available (hair dryer; lock-box; telephone, TV; a/c); water leaks, shabby furniture, dirty floors, foul-smelling beds, dim lighting and crumbling walls were some of the room features not mentioned in advertisement. Pool was evacuated one afternoon due...

Understand what ur getting into
from A TripAdvisor Member
Alright I'll be honest, the hotel isn't glamorous by any means. The food -----, the rooms aren't the best and the elevator situation is a joke (be prepared to walk up and down 20 flights to your room), but with that aside, the hotel is still awesome. Its full of kids who are partying 24 hours a day. The hotel security is very nice and understanding of what it means to have a good time. Out of all the hotels in Acapulco, the Romano Palace has the best location by far, being right across from the beach and in the middle of everything...

Romano Palace Especial
from A TripAdvisor Member
For the price, this place is way beyond what I expected. True, the elevators are slow, true the beach is across the street(but it takes 15 seconds and your there), also a beach bar with all the the corona and canned refreshments you'd want. To get a seaside lounge chair you must pay, @ $2-3. But there are tables 30 feet from the water. True it is very noisy at night if your directly facing the condesa. It does not get quiet enough to sleep until 4am. Atleast when I went with my gf back in Feb 2004. Though the views from the upper...

Think twice before staying here!
from A TripAdvisor Member
I'm glad I only booked one night at this hotel. There were cigarette burns on the bed spread, a/c was not very cool and the rooms were small. This 22 floor hotel only had two elevators. So needless to say, your going to wait awhile. I had to call reservations twice for a remote control for the TV because they didn't provide it when I checked-in and then they wanted me to go back down and get it myself instead of bringing up to me. It is not a beach front hotel. You have to walk across the main street to get to the beach. Finally, don't...

I stayed there in 2002 I liked the service, the clean rooom, but I couldn't stand the marketing calls somebody do to your room phone. But it you are nice to your maid lady you can get everything you need fast and then get to know the real acapulco people...
Inexpensive, great location.
from larry_nyc
I spent a week at the Romano in late April 2004 and it was better than expected. Service: The elevators can be slow during busy times, especially if you're on a higher floor. The Mexicans aren't much for waiting their turn and will push past you when the elevator arrives, even if they just got there. The area just outside the lobby is flooded with taxi drivers who will sell you *anything* for the right price. It became a joke to say, "Taxi, amigo?" to each other by the 2nd day. The concierge was helpful and when he heard I was...

Its cheap for a reason
from A TripAdvisor Member
Just to start off, its cheap and spring breakers can afford it, but you are missing out on so much if you stay here compared to staying somewhere else. The rooms are warm, the food is really bad, there is a smell in the hallway thats with you forever because it smells so bad, your rooms don't come with everything they say it comes with, the people working for the hotel are not nice at all, if you are there like i was for spring break, the lines to get drinks are so long. Long like, you will wait 20 mins to get a drink by the pool. One more...

best value
from CaptainAvalanche
I found the Romano Palace to be a great value. As a college student struggling to pay for my own spring break this place was perfect. It was very suitable for all 12 of the people i went with- guys and girls alike. The sheets were clean, the maids didnt steal from us and the view was great. A few little annoyances existed like the bathroom door not haveing a handle-we shut it by grabbing it from the bottom. Plus, the elevators were kind of slow until we discovered the maid elevators. The location was the best of any hotel with carlos...

I cant complain
from A TripAdvisor Member
Well as most spring breakers do, I looked up information regarding hotels such as the Romano Palace and decided I would give it a try. I planned most of the trip and went with four of my girls. We just got back from spring break and had a great time. Acapulco is a great place to go and there is always something to do whether it be the beach, pools, shopping, bungee jumping, clubbing, eating out etc. The Romano Palace was a nice place for spring breakers who arent looking to spend a ridiculous amount of money. Our room was nice with a view of...
