My wife and I and our two kids (2.5 and 1.5 years of age) had an excellent holiday here. The only reason I didn't give a ten was the slippiness of the pathway next to all of the pools which means you have to keep a close eye on young children.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T HAVE KIDS OR IF YOU WANT TO PARTY!!!

ENTERTAINMENT: Brilliant at night for children...and thats including english-speaking children..most of the songs are catchy and sung in English, Dutch and German. Adult entertainment at night was even better and featured covers from Rod Stewart to Abba etc..

During the day the club caters for, I would say, children of 7 years an older and is run by multi-lingual staff who speak mainly in German and Dutch..there is a tots club run by english speaking people but we never made use of it.

FOOD: 8 out of ten. There are many places in the complex to eat. If you want to eat outside then you have to book the Grill well in advance though as it is popular. The Fontana is not really suitable for young children. The main restaurants are excellent with plenty of fresh food..I was impressed!!

ROOMS: We got the 1 bedroom apartment and were very pleased. Air con works extremely well!!!

MAIDS: Cleaned very well and were very friendly. Only thing is that our towels were not changed daily.

BAR: Service pretty much immediately and at night not too bad. Longest I waited in 2 weeks was maybe 4 mins. During the day you can pour your own beer, wine or sangria at the grill which also has lovely cakes and doughnuts throughout the day!!!

STAFF: Reception staff were not very friendly. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly and quick to change the tablecloths, cutlery etc once the table was vacated

POOLS: Kept very, very clean..every day I saw the staff checking Chlorine levels and were up late at night and early in the morning to ensure the massive amount of deckchairs were stowed ready for use. I would rate the pools 10/10!!. There is so much pool area that I never saw any of the pools even 1/4 full. There are also 2 totally seperate toddlers pools with lots of sun-lounger space around..we never had any problems getting sunloungers throughout the two weeks and there were always plenty vacant areas with excellent sun-bathing space.

PEOPLE: Everyone seemed to be German or Dutch except us! I didn't mind that one bit as they were all very pleasant and demand a high standard. There was no loutish behaviour as most are families.

SUNBEDS: PLENTY

SHOPPING: Supermart 10 mins walk away and a smaller mart which has EVERYTHING (including swimming nappies) 3 mins walk.

BEACH: About 15 mins stroll away the beach is excellent and apleasant walk by all the shops!! Fine golden sand and promenade walk-way around the bay with standard beach-bars dotted along. The beach is walled between the promenade which is great if you have kiddies. Plenty of places to put up your umbarella (a fiver from a local shop) or you can rent a fixed umbarella and deck chairs in a designated area for about a tenner a day.

OTHER: There is free entrance to the kiddies park next-door which is supervised and has trampolines, a small water area suitable for all ages of children with flume and two or three enclosed play areas..

One of the big pluses is the waterpark on your doorstep. All inclusive guests pay 11 euros per adult and kiddies under 3 are free. This entitles you to free food and drink all day from 10:30 to 4:30pm. Suitable and fun for adults and toddlers there are again many pool and deck chair areas..again a bit slippy though. Lifeguard is present constantly and staff VERY VERY friendly.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS i HAVE EVER HAD AND THE FIRST WITH OUR TWO KIDDIES OVERSEAS..do it!!

The Hotel is excellant, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the entertainment is good .

the entertainment work very hard during the day and on every other night they put on a show, which are faultless.. The food is good and there is a good and varied choice and you can eat in three other restaurants but you have to prebook at the sports club.

I strongly recommend the country grill,it`s a barbeque, but don`t go if your on a diet, the steaks are to die for (have as many as you like).

The down side is the dreaded GERMANS they are ignorant and loud especially when there is a show on. One good thing the staff do is, if they put there towels on the beds before 9-00 am they remove them and put them in a green box or soak them with water when they clean the pool and beds .

Full marks to Portland holidays for a great resort and service..

Our first holiday abroad with our 3 year old. We reviewed comments good and bad and went with an open mind.

Transfer - 1 hour from Palma irport

Location - for us excellent 6-7 mins to beach - which was lovely. 15mins from Calla Millor, Sa Bona. CAtch a little road train which was fun - 6euro's return for us, kids free

Hotel - spotless, very clean, friendly staff. roomy, good lifts, we didnt have to wait at all

Room - spaceous, spotless, lovely view of pool area, large bedroom and beds, lots of wardrobe space and hangers

Food - main restuarant, fabulous food, very varied, excellently presented and everything from fresh pasta, lamb casserole, fresh fish, pork kebabs, to fish fingers to spagetti bolognese...breakfast was lovely - bacon, sausages, fresh toms, poached eggs, boiled eggs, hams, cheeses, pasteries, yoghart and make your own museli. The staff were also very lovely. Grill Bar and La Reserva were fantastic - Sirloin steak is the best weve tasted

Pool - again spotless, plenty of sunbeds, although quite close together, this was not a problem.

Play parks - Lovely park with slides, swings. Another one with a wooden Fort and sand pit, plus rid eon cars also have a pool with great slide. Then there was La Reserva (we paid 11euro's each - £18 but our 3 year old was free) price included full stay from 10.30am-5.30pm, all food all day and it was excellent food - BBQ chicken, Sirloin Steak, pasta, Pork steaks, tuna salad, hotdogs, Hamburgers, fresh salads. Drinks also were included and again could have as much as you wanted from beer, rose, whit and red wine, soft drinks, tea, coffee, etc.. This belongs to the hotel and is 5 mins walk. Fantastic for smaller kids as they have their own 2 slides and shallow beach area, and 2 larger slides for the old kids however our 3 year old loved these. Great swim up bat also

Evening Entertainment - 8.30-9.15pm for kids - lots of fun dancing and songs, Adult 9.30-11pm - again varied and fun - what yuou would expect from a med hol

Guests - mixed nationalities from English, Dutch, German, Swedish, Spanish - all very friendly and family orientated. Our 3 year old made some lovely friends, although not able to speak each others languages, they just got on with it and communicated as kids do

Overall for us the hotel created a perfect family holiday....there was everything there we needed and it was certainly easy with a 3 year old.

Would go again and would say do not listen to the gripes on here I really do think they are exagerated!!! I would return tomorrow if I could!!!

On arriving at this hotel the reception was quite smart and checked in very quickly. However when we tried to book restaurants and some sports for our weeks stay we were very disapointed as they were fully booked for over a week. We could only then use the buffet restaurant which I would not describe anyway near four star quality. The swimming pool area was the biggest disapointment, just rows and rows of beds everywhere you could not even see the pool if you were a few rows back let alone get to it as the beds are pushed together to get as many in as possible. You can pay to use la reserva pool which is nice but as a family of four this adds considerable cost to an already expensive all inclusive holiday. The reps are aware of the problems as everyone seemed to be complaining but stated they were powerless to do anything as it is not a Thomson owned hotel. I imagine this hotel is ok if you go out of season but the first week in July we were there it was packed and the hotel just can not manage the amount of guests it has, the entertainment was also of a very poor level, I would never go to this hotel again.

I can not fault the hotel it was very clean but you are out numbered 10 to 1 with Germans and all of the entertainment is geared up the Germans you do hear some English from the reps.

Sa coma is very nice and the is a hand full of bars to go but again not a lot to do for children.

Safari does have a lot of swimming pools and a great water park on the ground but don’t ask the Portland reps because they don’t know all they know is how to sell trips with them even if you have children aged 2 and 9 months they still try selling something to you.

We spoke to the Portland rep about not understanding what the hotel reps were saying and she replied we should have booked a Thompson family holiday instead.

We stayed at the Safari park Aparthotel for 2 weeks in July. This was our second visit to this hotel as we thoroughly enjoyed it the first time we stayed. We enjoyed this visit but not as much as the first time.

FACILITIES - 10

This is what makes the hotel great. There is an endless amount you can do at this hotel from the 58 hole minigolf course to tennis to high wall climbing to giant chess this place has everything.

There is a club house just outside of the hotel which offers free tennis, scuba diving, horse riding etc, and more advanced courses exclusive to Proture hotels of the area.

The hotel also has a gym (which is quite small), a sauna and the basic pool tables and table tennis.

There are 3 large pools and two smaller ones for kids and 2 baby pools and there is a football pitch, volley ball court, and giant chess near the back of the hotel.

New from when we last came there is a large play park and a very small water play area which I think is very expensive.

CLEANLINESS - 9

The hotel is usually clean, there is always staff doing something to make the hotel nicer. At one point we noticed the same bin being changed 3 times in 45 minutes.

LOCATION - 9

If you’re looking for a nice family location with plenty to do and places to eat then this is the place for you. Sa coma has a lovely beach, a small castle and a horse riding centre near to the hotel but there is also Cala Millor, S' Illiot and Cala Bona not far away.

For food I recommend the kings head, The Atlantic and the Britannia for nice food and service.

ROOM - 7

This is the main reason we didn't enjoy the hotel as much as before. The rooms hadn't changed since last time which was 4 years ago so they could do with a modernisation and they are still pretty basic. We had sheets and pillows with holes in, the fire alarm was missing for a week, the toilet stopped flushing for a day, and a TV channel had no sound for several days.

Also the people we came with said there air conditioning had flooded!!

Safari Park hotel was probably the best hotel I have stayed in! There is so much to do and you will never get bored.

There is evening entertainment every night, a bar inside the resort and plenty of room for everyone.

If you have young children there are clubs during the day in which they can be involved in and safe, shallow swimming pools for them too.

There is a wonderful beach situated about 500m away and plenty of food places just up the road. I would highly recommend this place to people of all ages.

Our 4th time here in a row, booked direct with Protur on the internet as we required accommodation for 5 people.

Tour ops can only offer 2 studio apartments but hotel has some en-suite rooms (with interconnecting door) adjoining studios, which can be booked for 1 person, saves us a fortune, cost us Cleanliness very good, towels changed daily except Tues & Sat, staff very friendly and plenty of good English speakers. The Paradis Golf (3 x 18 hole crazy golf) is now free to Safari Park guests, just get ticket at reception.

Country Grill on site good value at 18 euros so long as you're hungry! Barbecue type grill, all you can eat, just keep going back for a new plate of food.

Afraid we're not very adventurous when it comes to dining so the various bars serving British food suits us, can recommend British Baron (free entertainment from Santi the owner!) and also JJ's. Both offer good quality & quantity at reasonable prices.

As others have said, Brits outnumbered by Germans & Dutch but don't find this a problem. Thoroughly recommended.

Spent 2 weeks at the safari apartments on a self catering basis. The main areas of the complex are excellent but we were disappointed with the room and felt that this was quite basic for a 4 star accommodation. This was very clean but felt that the kitchen and living area could have been a bit bigger.

As previous people have mentioned this complex is full of Germans as was Sa Coma. There is plenty of space at the many pools in the complex but you need to be down early to get a good space, don't leave your towels out before 9am as the hotel staff come around and remove them.

There is a kids play area at the back of the complex with climbing structures, mini water slide which is well worth a visit if you have kids with you.

We struggled to find any really nice restaurants but found the cafe on the corner El Passeig very welcoming with nice staff and the food was great.

The Spar across from the complex is quite expensive so try some of the many shops further down the resort.

The beach is lovely but gets quite busy. The beds and parasols were expensive at 16 euros for 3 beds and 1 parasol, so we decided to buy our own parasol for 6 euros and save ourselves some money.

On the whole we really enjoyed our holiday here and would definitely return.

Over 98% Germans. Overpowering at times as most of the entertainment was compiled for them. Complex is too big quite impersonal. If self catering there are not many good quality restaurants to eat. its mainly tourist style cafe types.

Apartments clean and a decent size, nice to have shower gel, hairdryer etc. Maid service was good.

Overall would not visit the Safari again.

Having read reviews of this complex already, we sort of knew what to expect. Nonetheless we were still pleasantly surprised.

The reception area was spotlessly clean and the air conditioning hits you straight away.

The room was of good size, with a decent view of the massive swimming pool, which brings me on to my only real gripe.

You cannot move near the pool area for row upon row of sun beds, occupied mainly by just beach towels. Needless to say we didn’t use the pool much, so just as well the beach at sa coma is fantastic.

The entertainment is aimed mainly at it’s many German guests (the British are definitely in the minority here) which can sometimes be a bit strange to say the least.

Nightlife in Sa Coma is low key (j j`s, the Britannia and the kings head are a must) but Cala Millor and Cala Bona are only a short bus / taxi away and we preferred the nightlife here.

Overall we had a brilliant time here and would definitely recommend a stay.
