My wife and I and our two kids (2.5 and 1.5 years of age) had an excellent holiday here. The only reason I didn't give a ten was the slippiness of the pathway next to all of the pools which means you have to keep a close eye on young children. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T... more

Loved every mnute
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Protur Safari Park Aparthotel. It really was beautiful. This was our first family holiday abroad. Our girls are 4 & 6. The whole complex was amazingly clean and well kept(and I am really fussy!!). The staff were really friendly and I must say La Reserva - the aqua park - within the complex is amazing. It is a must if you stay there(There is a charge even if all inclusive) but well worth it. The Safari park is just one of the accommodations available within the group but it never appeared too busy. The only problem was there were about five different restaurants, apart from the main eating area, where you had to book for to eat in on an evening. They had to be booked at the Club House which all of the other hotels in the group shared. This meant they were very busy so not always available. This also applies to the sporting activities. My daughter wanted to try the Pony Trek but it was completely booked. It did not end up being a problem for us as near the Sa Coma beach there was a pony ride Ranch and ponies could be hired by the hour - so everyonwe was happy!! I certainly will be recommending the Safari Park Aparthotel to our friends. It is available through Thomson and a few other tour operators but we booked direct with the hotel and saved over £300 on our all inclusive accommodation alone. We will certainly be booking as independent travellers again.
Injury Around The Pool
Second time we have stayed at this hotel. in 2006 (our first visit) everything was fine but this year my daughter slipped/stumbled on a broken edge on edge of pool and cut herself open in a very delicate place. Ended up being taken to hospital by ambulance and staying in overnight. Ruined the whole holiday because she was not allowed to go into water and get her injury wet. Have previously been very happy with the hotel but felt last year the upkeep around the pool was poor. The edges of the pool were very rough and had some very sharp areas so if you go beware and make sure this has been sorted. If anyone else has had any similar problems please contact me as i am taking this matter up with the hotel. thanks
It Was OK, Not Brill
It was a long coach drive from the airport to the hotel. The hotel was nice and clean and most of the staff was friendly. It the hotel location was about 10 mins slow wake to the beach, which was very clean and sandly. This hotel is mainly for people with young families. The down side of my trip was alcohol choice was very limited for the AI guess and the food was awful. There is a country grill which the AI can use for lunch and book a evening meal which is very good. The hotel creates mainly for German tourist.
* Good But Not Fantastic *
We have just returned from a 11 night stay which we booked direct with the Hotel. Overall it was ok, not too impressed with the food, and like other reviews, it is possible to book into the other restaurants, such as the grill, tapas, or italian, we tried on the first day and had to wait 7 days until anything was available. Lots of Chips !! We also found the pool area very cramped at least 8-10 deep, so we opted for the reserva pool and paid the extra each day, but it was so worth it, everything free, really safe for the kids, and loads of beds to choose from - this was the making of our holiday. Staff all very friendly and the accommodation was great. We opted for the all inclusive which was good value, but we were not impressed that you had to pay for bottled water the only water all inclusive was just a glass from the bar. Resort was good, although highly populated with Germans, probably would not go back, but depending on how much you pay its a good basic value break.
Very good hotel
Stayed 12 nights s/c over July / Aug 2007 booking direct. I will try and not re-iterate what other reviewers have posted (although in my usual rambling style I probably will) other than to agree that this is a great hotel. Only niggle is the sunbed issue - they do try and cram in as many as possible, but the flip side to that is it means that there is a good chance of bagging one during the day, and this didn't detract from my enjoyment. I would be surprised if the main pool wasn't heated. It was gorgeous first thing in the morning. Visited La Reserva a few times - basically a "members club" within the Protur complex, for which there is a charge, depending on your board basis. Far more relaxed than the hotel itself with a few water slides, and a large kiddies area. As a s/c guest I felt this was good value as it does include all food and drink for the day, although I heard a few grumbles from the AI guests who felt this should have been part of their package. Also thought that the pool was colder than that in the main hotel. Kids playground (shared with the other protur hotels) is great with a spalsh pool, go karts, bouncy castle, trampolines, swings and a play fort. Surprisingly I really enjoyed the evening entertainment. Kids entertainment was good, with a mix of English, German and Spanish songs, with the show generally being in all three of these languages, with the occasional bit of Dutch (depending on who was presenting that night). One curious point was when I heard the lyrics to the song "Music Man" which contains the verse "I am the Music Man....And I play the dambusters", at which point the presenters proceeded to run around the stage pretending to be aeroplanes. Perhaps dambuster means something different in Europe...... All in all a great place, and despite the sunbed niggle would stay again, as I think Protur have got a good thing going here. Now if only they good weave their magic over the resort itself (which is dreary and bland), I would be a very happy man!
Wow!!!!!!!!!
just about everything you could wish for when on holiday with the family. Great Staff, Clean & Comfortable Rooms. I was with the wife and 4 Kids, 10YRS, 8YRS,2YRS AND 6 Months. AND WE WERE ALL INCLUSIVE, BOOKING DIRECT WITH HOTEL - AND GOD WE WERE NOT DISSAPOINTED.
Free Beer and Food
stayed at the safari on an allocated on arrival so wasn't expecting much, but the location is excellent, the apartments are really clean, clean towels and bedding every 2 days although they did change them daily for most of the week. The apartments are large so there was plenty of space and you can even get ITV and BBC1 so there's no need to miss your soaps! The hotel puts out food at nightime for new arrivals which is excellent for midnight snacks (there's also alcohol drinks under the white cloths if you feel thirsty!!) The hotel is mainly for all inclusive, we were staying there self catering, however if you go to the all inclusive bar they hand over free beer without question, you can also get free ice creams from the freezers, bargain! The resort itself is quite small, there are 3 next to each other, all of which have plenty of bars and places to eat, chinese restaurants are really cheap, if you find the local supermarket there is a BBQ restaurant opposite which BBQ your meals, which was the best place to eat, especially if you like steak etc. They don't even want paying at the end of the evening and give you a free baileys (or any other drink of your choice)! Wouldn't really recommend the Safari park (with animals itself), although it has most animals its not like Knowsley Safari Park ! As a final note the price we paid for this holiday was £213 per person for the week, the hotelapartment is 4*, the rooms have air conditioning, two sofa's, a fridge, microwave, cooker (not brilliant, never used), and basic plates etc.. large bedroom with two large single beds pushed together and blacked out blinds so the room stays dark in the morning when the sun comes up
A great holiday.
This was our fourth holiday at the Safari and was as enjoyable as ever. The level of cleanliness both inside the hotel and out is very good, the grounds are very well maintained. We arrived to a maid cleaning the hotel lobby door and a chap painting the sign outside. We stayed on a self catering basis which suits us as there are plenty of restaurants in Sa Coma and we like to eat out. The cooking facilities in the apartments are basic: two rings and a microwave. The rooms themselves are well maintained and were cleaned 5 days out of 7 each week. There are plenty of swimming pools, we particularly liked the indoor pool as it was warmer (we had some cloudy days!) and even on hot days it was nice to use it to keep our children out of the midday sun. Our boys are 4 and 7, we didn't use the hotel's kids club as it catered more for the german guests, but we made full use of the two play areas within the Safari complex and also in the neighbouring Protur hotels. We are looking forward to our next holiday at the Safari.
Great standard but next door might be better for you
Great standard of accommodation, but for me there were too many sunbeds and not enough room to walk about because of them! There was a gap of only a foot or so between the bottom of the sunbeds and the pool and young kids could easily fall in! The Vista Badia next door is the same standard, slightly closer to the beach and is also smaller. Their pool is great and the sunbeds not so close to the edge of the pool. Either way, the hotels are primarily used by German guests, but as long as you book self-catering and keep yourself to yourself, you'll have a great time!
fab hotel with great staff
OK the hotel had just opened for the easter, and we must have been some of the first guests in the year, but the hotel was fully operational even with full entertainment staff who were excellent, offering a full range of acctivities both for adults & kids alike. My 15 year old was kept amused most the week, not a easy task. The half board consisted of a huge buffet which changed daily and was of an excellent standard. Drinks & snaks were both cheap and good qulity. Pool had plenty of beds, even the germans did not need to get up so early (but they did!) I all an excellent holiday destination would reccomend half board if you have kids! Sa coma is a little less developed than its near neighbour Cala Millor but would be a little quieter in the height of the season.
