We regularly take our holidays in Lanzarote and have been there for the last 10 years. During these holidays we have stayed in Costa Teguise and Puerto Del Carmen in hotels and apartments. In October 2011 my wife scanned the Internet and decided on the Hyde Park Lane... more

Just returned from Hyde Park Lane Bungalows, had a relaxing time but would have liked a top bungalow! or one that overlooked the biggest outdoor pool. Beds were the hardest I have ever slept on, even tried the floor on one night as my back was so sore, that didn't help. I... more

ACCOMMODATION This accommodation is a bit too far away from anything decent. It's a shame because it has a nice pool and a fab kids pool. The staff are nice and everything is kept clean and well maintained. Our room was cleaned & fresh towels were left on 6 of the 9 days... more

Good self catering accommodation-maid service 5 out of 7 days with clean towels at every visit. Our two parties were given semi-detached bungalows with adjoining door - very convenient. If you head downhill to the beach and then turn left it was much less busy. Walk 10... more

I don't think much to the Bar, the Pool, or the Restaurant however the Bungalows are Bright, Spacious, and Clean & Cheap. We have stayed here before and only use the Hyde Park to cook Breakfast & Sleep. Positioned just outside the noisy resort of Puerto Del Carmen, you can... more

Cheap but cheerful
This was an ‘Allocate on arrival’, last minute booking, so all I was expecting was cheap and cheerful – and I think that’s what we got. The plane was delayed, so we were late in, we picked up our hire car, and found it very easy to find this development. Reception was efficient and friendly, but on arriving at our bungalow, we found there was no bedding. Reception allocated us another bungalow straight away with apologies, and as it had bedding and it was late we unpacked and went to sleep. Next morning we discovered it had no towels, no kettle, no TV and the toaster blew the electrics. Reception was really good and within minutes people started arriving with what we needed. When we returned to our room later there was a note apologising and offering us a free buffet dinner. So, not to look a gift horse etc we went along. Well, it was free, but I am glad we were not paying. Cannot comment on the a la carte option available, but the buffet was only just tolerable. However, we then discovered that the room we were in (99) was over the entry to the Supermarket. Deliveries began at 5.30 a.m, followed by dustbins at 6.30, kitchen staff started about 7.00 and the cleaners came and got their carts from the side of the supermarket at 7.30 - all discussing loudly last nights edition of spanish eastenders ! I am sure they would have moved us, but having moved once I couldn’t be bothered as we were only there for a week. It certainly made sure that we were up and awake by 8.00 and didn’t miss any of our holiday! Everywhere however was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was nice, and it’s only a five minute walk to the beach and nearest bars and restaurants. The bar at the complex is large and a bit soulless (maybe it needed more than half a dozen people), however the measures are very generous and reasonably priced. I would rate this as a good two star at best, though the staff try hard the fabric of the place is a little worn. In all we enjoyed our holiday as this was just a base for us. Car hire by Auto Reisan was excellent, organised over the internet, we paid exactly what they quoted - £71 for a weeks hire
Really Loved It!
My husband, myself & our two very young children stayed at hyde lane park bungalows in feb'06, i was nervous due to reading prior reveiws on this page BUT it was really, really lovely. We found the bungalows to be spotless, the maids friendly (they cleaned up, changed towels & bedding 6 days a week), the staff in the pool bar really nice again they loved children & a lovely relaxed atmosphere all round. The pool was abit to deep for the children but to be fair there is a kiddies pool. Anyone pondering visiting Hyde Park Lane Bungalows, with normal expectations i think will love it, we will be visiting again soon. x
did not like it al all!!
we stayed in a 1 key apartment block in dec 03 and it was good so as it was christmas we decided to treat ourselves to a 3key block, totally not worth it. Our apartment flooded, no atmosphere, food just all right if you'r not fussy, don't change the towels, never clean up, and staff not that helpful at all. I'll be in a one key next time!!
Definately One To Miss
My partner and I have just returned from a week in these bungalows. We found them to be cold and damp, which made our clothes and even our books damp when we left them in the bungalow. A heater was supplied but we were told not to use it for too long as they tended to overheat and melt the sockets - which it did after it had been on an hour, as we were cold after the cold showers we were forced to take due to the fact that the hot water only lasted approx 3-5 minutes. There were dead insects in the light fittings and also squashed onto the walls and not cleaned off. Only recieved clean towels once and no clean sheets during the week. The reception and bar staff were unhelpful and surly to say the least and I couldn;t believe it when we had to argue to get back our deposits after hiring a remote control for the TV and a safety deposit box. We hired a car for the whole week thank goodness, as it meant that we could get away from that place everyday. The one plus point it has is that they treat thier cats very well, providing them with a feeding station and so the cats don't feel the need to pester the guests for food which is strange as we never once, as guests felt the need to pester the staff for thier food either,NO THANKS!!!
Perfect
Well what can i say, read the reviews before going and most were good and i can highly recommend these bungalows to anyone. The area is fab, really quiet for a good nights sleep with the kid, lively enough for the younger ones (hark at me in my 30's) 10 minutes walk and you are into Porte del Carmen where all the pubs restaurants, night life is. Some ppl remarked in previous reviews about Lanis chain of food establishments - Go ppl, you will not be dissapointed. The food at the Hyde Park was ok, special burger was really good, very light, full english was not the bees Knees, but you cant have everything. Pool was clean but cold, i was there Jan 06, kids didnt mind the cold, once you were in it was fine. Did the Thomson submarine tour at 126E for 2 adults and one kid, promised to go to 148feet, i couldnt wait, only went to 60feet so dont believe what they say. It was an experience though. The weather in the Canaries has been bad for the past year, with lots of rain, which we got 4 out of 7 days, but you make the most of it. Plenty of clean towels in the room, bath clean, kitchen well supplied, ppl friendly, I have to put this in - Do Not Go to the Roca Verde in Playa de Inglis, Gran Canaria and tell your friends not to go there either........ Hyde Park Lane and Thomson well done..... Watch out though for Hyde Park Apartments are not the same as Hyde Park Lane Bungalows. Enjoy
The worst accommodation I have every stayed at
My family & I have just returned from a stay at the Hyde Park Lane villas. It was the most shabby, dreary place we have ever stayed at. The villa was damp - the sheets were damp. our clothing in the wardrobes were also damp. It was the most uncomfortable bed I have every slept in & my sheets were not changed once during our ten day holiday. There was only enough hot water for us to have a shower one at a time. Our self catering facilities included a microwave (no oven) a two ring hob & a kettle, together with an assortment of very sorry looking mis-matched crockery. We went out and bought a 100w lightbulb as the living area was so dismal. The pool area was depressing and dirty, the restaurant was similarly unappealing. Our salvation was the fact that we had a hire car which enabled us to spend every day as far away from there as possible. If you are prepared to suffer the most basic living standards, go ahead. Otherwise look elsewhere.
PLEASE Read this before you book!
We first stayed at Hyde Park Lane in 2003, and it was very good. We returned in February 2005 and it had changed dramatically, so much so, that we complained to Thompson on our return and had a partial refund. The bungalows were damp, (including the beds and bedding), they were dirty, i.e. dead bugs stuck to the top of walls in all rooms and alot of dead bugs in the light shades. The hot water situation was intolerable, each bungalow only has a tiny tank which lasts for about 2 minutes of you getting into the shower, it is not possible to wash your hair or rinse the soap off your body by the time it runs cold!. The swimming pool was dirty. Myself and several other guests had sickness and diorrhea for 3 days, we believe the cause to have been brushing our teeth in the tap water. These bungalows are, in my opinion, are 2 star accomodation, very basic indeed, so if you don't mind roughing it, this is the place for you, if you like comfort, don't bother staying here!.
PEACE AND QUIET
We have just returned from the Hyde Park Bungalows and can reccomend them to anyone who is looking for a quiet, self catering holiday. The bungalows were immaculate and staff very helpfull and friendly .Having said it was quiet, a short taxi ride away was Puerto Del Carmen with its many bars and restaurants (taxi approx 3.5 euros ).We are re-booking for next year.
Loved these apartments
Found these apartments well maintained and well eqiped. Really chilled out atmosphere, no animation team to pester you or loud music around the pool area. Staff in the small bar were really nice. We didn't use the restraunt but did use the snack bar through the day which was quite reasnoble. Our apartment was right beside the pool which was great. Pool area nice and we always managed to get a sunbed. Barbeque eqipment also came with the bungalow which was good as we were ther on a budget. Love Lanzarote and Los Pocillios, would definatly reccoment these apartments.
good for a chill out
Just got back from a week at the Hyde Park Lane bungalows in Playa de los Pocillos, Lanzarote and feel pretty chilled. The room was very spacious, with seperate bedroom, bathroom and lounge/diner including a breakfast bar. The twin beds were a little hard but adequate. The bathroom was spacious and had a good shower. The lounge had a settee and 2 chairs and a coffee table, tv, and breakfast bar with stools so comfortable to eat in. the kitchen was small but had the most conveniences I've ever come across when on a self-catering holiday. The usual 2 rings but a ceramic halogen hob instead of the usual rubbish hot plates, microwave with grill, toaster and kettle, so none of this heating water in a saucepan for tea business, which was great. The terrace had a table and chairs and was very close to the pool which was convenient. The pool was fr fr fr freezing, but if you dived in you were definitely cooled down quick, it was deep 1.9 M for at least half it's length and there was a separated shallow childrens pool so if you want to actually do some swimming you were well catered for. The maintenance was good and the pool was always very clean, not too over chlorinated and the chemical levels were checked properly. The pool bar had the usual fried fayre unfortunately but the staff were friendly and the measures were generous in the evening if you bothered to show some courtesy to the staff and at least attempt some spanish you may have the beginnings of a pretty spectacular hangover. The buffet restaurant had a fairly good menu but we decided to walk 15 mins to the outskirts of Playa del Carmen were there was so much choice it was hard to decide where to eat, and all tastes are catered for, italian, mexican, english, chinese(lots),irish, grill, indian, etc. etc. We found the Lani's restaurants were friendly and had more than one visit from us. The taxis are reasonable , it was about 2 ? to the first parade of restaurants and 4? to the harbour at the end of Puerto del carmen, which had better fish restaurants and a great view. There were bars and amusements and some good shops within this short distance but for daily provisions the apartment complex had it's own supermarket on site which was fairly well stocked so we didn't need to carry heavy goods uphill from town, which was very useful. The transfer from Arrecife airport was only around 20 minutes including stops which made the arrival/departure process very easy. I would recommend this resort and the Hyde Park Lane bungalows for anyone needing a chill out holiday, with little noise during the day and virtually none at night and all amenities close by.
