Courtyard Hotel

I stayed at the Santo Domingo Courtyard Marriott from Aug 15 - Aug 19, 2008. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very attentive. This location is centrally located right down the block from the US Embassy/Consulate. There is also is Mc Donalds one block away. I would defintely recommend it to anyonne looking from clean, decent, US type of accomadations

Great hotel with big US style rooms, a fantastic breakfast, free internet and in a good location close to a supermarket, Macdonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King etc Only downside is the pool is blinkin' freezing!!

This is the third time I have stayed at the Marriott Courtyard since it opened. I enjoy the time I spend at the hotel. The hotel is easily accessible. The Front Office staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the size is great. The safes can accommodate the average notebook computer. I only ate the breakfast buffet once. I think $12.00 for breakfast is over priced in a third world country although I can afford it. The Courtyard needs to upgrade the software on the computers on the first floor. For the price charged, you get what you pay for. In my opinion, I would say you get an excellent value. The hotel is nicely decorated and clean. From the moment you walk in, the hotel staff greet you politely. They also speak english which is a plus in my book because I don't know much spanish. Check in was a breeze. Hotel is new (built 1-2 years ago) and very clean. Staff were very friendly - they speak English well at the front desk. Internet connections are great. Breakfast buffet very nice. Location good for business travelers. Next to US embassy. On the far side of embassy is a great pizzeria/Italian restaurant - "real Italian" food. That more than compensated for the lack of restaurant in the hotel itself. For the rate charged, the Marriott is definitely not one of Santo Domingo's better hotels. The pool is extremely small and the hotel staff can't speak English (unlike most of Santo Domingo's hotel.) Don't be fooled by the "free breakfast" advertisements--if two adults stay in the room, breakfast is only free for one of them. The hotel is downtown and close to cheap eats such as McDonald's or Burger King but is away from the cultural attractions and require a cab ride to get to the more "touristy" areas. Recommended by a Dominican business associate. I do quite a bit of business travel, and this was the worst ever. The front desk staff was unfriendly and constantly harrassing its guest. I was not the only one, I was talking to a man in the elevator experiencing the same issues. The hotel is clean and rooms decent. But they need to know how to deal with its customers. Just returned from Santo Domingo, where we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott. Wonderful location, close to the downtown area (taxi or bus), the beach(Malecon area) and enough 24 hour restaurants around. Wonderful breakfast each morning, they served dinner, we just didn't stay in for it. Lobby has free Internet access as well as hook-ups in room for your own computer. I stayed at the Courtyard for 2 nights in early May. I have been to Santo Domingo many times and have stayed in most of the larger hotels. Unless you just have to have an ocean view, this is a great hotel for business travelers or tourists. The price is extremely reasonable when compared to the other area hotels and it's virtually brand new. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good. Only drawback is the restaurant is only open for breakfast but there's plenty of places to eat within walking distance.... more

I stayed at the Courtyard Santo Domingo Hotel from March 28 - April 5, 04, a total of 8 nights. Overall, I would have to say my stay to be very pleasing. First, the hotel is brand-spanking new, opening in late Feb. 04. So, everything is in top condition. No wear and tear on furniture, carpet, appliances, etc. My room with double beds was very nice size. I particularly liked the fact that the air conditioner was not located over the bed.
