Embassy Suites Hotel

The grounds of the hotel are very nice and the golf course and pool are great. But overall, I was bored out of my mind staying in the compound. Plenty of things upset me around the hotel. We had been given room 122 which has no balcony whatsoever, most of the rooms do. The room has a very dark living room, and a nice bedroom. In between the two rooms there was a sink, microwave and coffee maker. That was great, but the minute you put anything down on the countertop, an army of ants showed up. We went there for Christmas. Took the grandbaby and another couple with us. The front desk was very accomodating in ensuring that I got the rooms I had requested (connecting rooms, 1st floor). The nightly reception was very nice. The food was not the best, but the dining room service was worse. Only a few of the wait room staff spoke English, so it sometimes was difficult getting them to understand what we wanted. Good staff, comfortable attractive rooms, generous cocktail hours and excelent breakfast at a good price. As expatriate of many years have stayed in many Dominican hotels, of which most were either poorly maintained or vastly overcharged for so so all inclusive service. At this hotel all well balanced, service, amenities and price. A good Easter weekend experience. Whoever selects and trains their employees should get a raise as they were all five star quality

This is a great place to stay in the DR. It is beautiful, well maintained and very safe. The staff is helpful and very courteous. Most speak some English and communication is easy. The grounds are beautiful and a bus take you to the beach and picks you up as needed. A nice touch is the availability of bicycles for riding around the grounds. Unfortunately since many of the staff do not have cars they often borrow the bikes to get to and from work. I just returned from a 4 day stay at this hotel. I must say, it was probably one of the nicest places we have stayed. The staff, the mgmt were fantastic. We have a 2 year old child, so needless to say, travelling and staying in a new place can be quite stressful. I can't think of any one instance where the staff didn't bend over backwards to try to be accommodating to us. Everyone was polite, and helpful. My family (me, wife, 7 and 11 year-old kids) just returned from the Dominican Republic and stayed for five nights at the Embassy Suites Los Marlins Grand Resort. Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable stay and I would highly recommend this hotel. In the interior, it is a very typical Embassy Suites--nothing more, nothing less. Having stayed at various hotels in DR, I am impressed with almost everything about this hotel. The rooms were very nice, the service was excellent, most of the staff spoke multiple languages (including English) and the grounds were impeccable. Unless you play golf, there is not alot to do on grounds, but I was at the beach by day and at the local watering holes at night. Security was good, the food was OK, not great. We wrote quite a lengthy review of the property that didn't seem to make it to Trip Advisor, so we'll do another short one in case the other one does show up. The property is fabulous. it completely exceded our expectations in every facet...rooms,facilities, breakfast, pool, setting...and in service. We stay in many hotels every year, and have never stayed in a property that offered such incredible value. This truly is a gem!

The front desk and other employees are very nice. The management is a real scam and joke. When I went to check out that morning my bill was for almost 400 dollars more. When I asked the Night manager he told me it was because the exchange rate had changed since I booked my room. I told that I had booked my room at one price and would not pay any extra. He told me that if I didn't sign the bill for my credit card of that amount that I couln't leave and he would have security come. My wife and I stayed at Los Marlins, Juan Dolio during our last visit to the D.R. The rooms are no question the best in the country. The hotel is brand new and the whole complex is beautiful. Get up in the morning, have a complimentary breakfast, and head out for the day. Be it sight seeing, 4 wheeling, golf or whatever. The two golf courses, Los Marlins and Guavaberry are terrific. The people at the hotel were so nice.
