Downside to the holiday was our hotel - fantastic view of beach from room but unfortunately, we could see it a bit to clearly due to a large gap (approx 5 inches) in the window, this was fixed but there was still a slight gap which the mozzies found straight away! Food was also awful at the hotel, but this did not bother us to much as we were B+B and the local restaurants were fantastic. The beach was also a mess and although they told us the hotel did not own the beach they did eventually clean it up. In favour of the hotel it was very clean, and our rooms had a thorough cleaning daily even though the once white sheets and towels were now grey. It did make us laugh when we read the sign 'do not take towels to beach or pool' - you wouldn't be seen dead with them in public!
Can't complain to much as our holiday was very cheap and if there weren’t so many other places in the world we would go back to the Dominican tomorrow. My only tip would be whatever hotel you are in don't go all inclusive or if you do get out of your hotel once in a while. The DR is a fantastic place, especially when you get out of the resorts - we were shocked by how many Brits only left there hotels to go on organised tours - what a waste of an amazing country.
