Jan 2008, Mr K Lindsay

Stayed here and had a great time. The resort is well equipped and clean; we were in a 3 bed unit and it was massive. It had 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 living areas, two sun patios screened and a total of 5 TVs! It is very close to all the main theme parks (a hire car is a... more

Excellent Resort. We were very pleased with the overall cleanliness and maintenance and the helpful staff. Unfortunately there are no shopping facilities in or near the resort. A car is definitely necessary here. Taxis are horrendously expensive. (We were charged $70 from... more

It's not worth $25
Terrible, Terrible place. It's not even worth the $25 per night they charge if you agree to attend the time share presentation (read, VERY HIGH PRESSURE PRESENTATION). The current buildings are run down and showing their age. Mold is everywhere in the bathroom. The tile floors are very dirty and you can't walk with bare feet because of all of the dirt and such. Kitchen is a joke. Refrigerator took three days to chill cans of soda. Beds are the worst!!! You'll wake up with a sore back. No toilet paper. No paper towels. Bugs everywhere-I know it's Florida, but they need some sort of exterminator service. The stairwells to the rooms are coated with creepy crawly things. Management does not care and never responded to our complaints. Parking is lacking. Our time share 'Host' listened to our complaints, had us spend 30 minutes writing our story and then had the nerve to say 'What is it going to take for you to buy one of our units?' He says that they're not all that bad and proceeded to show us the model until, which is fairly decent looking. But guess what???? Do you stay in the model? NO! You check in to one of the crappy units. AND THE TOILETS!!!! What a loud contraption. You can hear all of your neighbors when they flush. Stay away. Your Orlando vacation does not need this heartache called Celebration World Resort.
Wonderful place to stay while at Kissimmee
I am not sure that the people in these other reviews stayed at the same place that my family and I stayed at. I have just returned from a week long stay (May 22 - May 29) at this resort, and I was totally satisfied. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, it had a huge bed and a pull-out couch, there was a nice big kitchen and the bathroom was nice and big, it even had a nice big screen TV. I have read several reviews on this site that criticize this resort, and I have to disagree. I went as a guest of an RCI member, and when I checked in I showed them the papers and had my room key within 5 minutes, and the guy checking in beside me got his key within 5 minutes. I got a welcome packet at the front desk, and also at the parking desk. I used this resort as a place to stay while not at the parks. We left at 9:00 AM and returned at 10:00 PM almost everyday. The resort was only about 10 minutes from any of the parks, which is about as close as most of the other resorts we looked at. The walls were somewhat thin, but definitely better than any hotel I have stayed at. The people that worked there were all very nice, from the guys at the security gate to the groundskeeper. We used the swimming pool one day and found that it was very nice, it didn;t seem dirty at all. When I checked out, it only took a matter of minutes. Overall we were very pleased and surprisingly satisfied with our stay, and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.
Absolutely the worst Florida vacation ever!!!!!!!!!!
We are RCI owners who exchanged our week for an Orlando timeshare stay. We have done this for the past eight years and have NEVER had such an AWFUL experience. Not only do we have to pay ownership fees for our resort but had to pay trade in fees in order to be able to get a timeshare resort in Florida. This is not your bargain vacation!!!! The service was HORRIBLE!!! When we checked in it took over 1/2 hour and we did not get our welcome packet or a parking pass. We had to go back and ask for them, which took another 1/2 hour. There were no activities brochures available. It took them quite awhile to find one that they made a photo copy from. We did not have enough towels, washcloths or toilet paper in our room. We had to ask several times before we ever got them. When I requested to have our room serviced (full) they dropped a bag off in our kitchenette. The walls were so horribly thin we could hear entire conversations from the room next to ours. Toilets could be heard flushing throughout the night and the construction started at 6:00 am every morning and went till 6:00pm every night!!!!!! It does interfere with the relaxation factor-- there was NONE!!! The one pool that they had was very tiny and DIRTY!!! The activities for children were geared for the 4-6 year old set. Family activities? There were none!!! There was a basketball court and one pond behind the buildings that faced the construction site! This was nothing more than a glorified cheap hotel!!! How they can get away with calling themselves a resort I will never understand!!!!! Even at a hotel I get better rooms than what we had here!!!! We have stayed at many excellent resorts in the Orlando/Kissimee area and have NEVER been disappointed until this one!!!! Anyone who feels this is a good resort most certainly does not know what a good resort is. Get a clue!!! For those of you who have purchased, I wish you luck because this place is the lowest of the low!!! Anyone considering staying here should definetly reconsider!!! Thanks to Celebration World Resort my children had the worst vacation experience ever!!!
I don't know what you're talking about, we loved it!!!!
I honestly don't know what all of the complaining is all about. My family and I (including our puppy- this is one of the only pet friendly resorts in the area) had a wonderful time at Celebration World Resort. We had such a great time that we bought into the timeshare 2 days after being there! The staff was so professional and helpful, the condo was huge compared to a hotel room, the pool area was great, the grounds were beautiful. We look forward to staying there again (that's why we bought). Yes, they are building more units and developing the land, but it didn't interfere with our vacation at all. They had children and family programs during the day and in the evening as well. This was great especially when we were looking to relax inbetween visiting the Disney Parks. Needless to say, but we loved it (my kids were in tears when we had to leave)! And we look forward to vacationing there again!!!!! KUDOS TO CWR!!!
Ditto-Ditto
What a coincidence! The same thing happened to us as the last two reviewers. When we arrived early to check into our 1 bedroom condo we were told that they had overbooked and that we would be put up in an Extended Stay that was 15 miles away! (Nothing against Extended Stay mind you but that was NOT what we had reserved and paid for 4 months in advance.) Fortunately-unlike the other reviewers- I refused and demanded my money back. The manager then proceeded to tell me that the reservations dept. would not refund my money and that I'd never be able to find another hotel in the Orlando area. I told her that we WOULD in fact be getting our money back but that I would not be dealing with it now as I didn't want to start our vacation out on a sour note. We proceeded to leave and it took just a few calls and we were checked into another hotel which was 3 times as expensive but very nice. When we returned home from our trip my husband immediately called the reservations dept and fortunately got our money credited back to us. The moral of this story I believe is... If it sounds to good to be true it definitely is! Celebration promises all these great things at a low cost but please, please, please DO NOT fall for it. They do not honor their reservations and then try to dump you into some other place.
Once again, nothing to 'Celebrate'
I agree fully with your latest reviewer from IL. The same thing happened to us. We arrived in FL early on the day we were to check in. We stopped at Celebration to confirm we would have a room that night (we spoke with an owner who said they had been sending people elsewhere the previous evening). The manager assured us we would have the condo we had reserved and paid for two months earlier. With this assurance, off we went to a theme park. The front desk person had told us we did not need to return right at 4:00 since we had already confirmed our reservation for that evening. Imagine our surprise when we arrived back at Celebration at 9:00 that evening with two exhausted children in tow just to be told that we were being housed in a hotel off-site. We, too, were only given one room with none of the amenities we had planned upon. We ended up having to spend an extraordinary amount on food instead of having a kitchen in which we could cook and our whole vacation seemed like a bad out-take from a Chevy Chase "Vacation" movie. We were NOT released from our tour, despite the waste of time it was for our salesman and we were never offered any explanation why we had been assured our room earlier in the day only to be told we did not have one when we returned at 9:00 pm. If in question, check the Better Business Bureau report on this resort. I, unfortunately, did not do this until after our terrible experience. Had I done this before I would have seen that this resort has an unsatisfactory report with the BBB. They really should consider renaming this resort to something more appropriate...
didn't get to celebrate
I made reservations and I called and verified my reservations on a Friday. I was to check in on the following Monday. We arrived shortly before 4:00 p.m. just like we were supposed to. There were more than a few very upset people already in the lobby. Apparently, they over booked, and had to send many families to different hotels. I don't know about all of them, but I do know, my family of seven, had to stay in a one room hotel. I called the manager back at Celebration and complained. I told her we needed another room with more beds. She told me she would call the hotel and give them the ok to give us another room at their expense. But, she never called them and never called me back. When I tried to reach her again, all the lines were busy. I had family members sleeping on the floor for three nights. I had reserved a two bedroom, living room, kitchen, two bathroom, with washer and dryer and dishwasher. I did not get close to that. They still expected us to go on their tour to sell us a time share. There was an owner there that couldn't even get what she had reserved. Why would anyone want to buy from them. I never want to hear of them or see their advertisements ever again. They never even offered compensation for our losses. On the last day of our vacation. We went to our tour and I asked to speak to that manager who did not call to get us another room. But she did not come out. All we received was another room for our last night there, and we were released from having to go on the tour. This is not good business. I, along with my entire family was very disappointed. This alone really ruined our family vacation, the only one we have been able to take in six years. It just isn't fair that they can treat customers like that. There has got to be laws against it.
For $25 bucks, might be OK
As a timeshare "exchanger" we were quite happy to get anything in FLA on short notice. The resort is very small, with only 1 pool. There is absolutely nothing to do there. We looked up the unit floor plan before we went there on the internet, and it appeared that even though we only had a 1 bedroom, it seemed quite large. Not the case. There apparently are several types of 1 bedroom units, be sure to get the larger one. In the small unit, only a partial kitchen (no oven). And no Jaccuzzi tub, as in the diagram. I would have been very happy to pay $25 per nite, instead of "waisting" my own gold crown resort as an exchange. and yes, the walls are paper thin, seemed like everyone's toilet pipes ran right through our units closet. I'd never go back, unless I was really stuck, and could go for $25!!
No sleep here
If you want to sleep, this is not the place. The walls are paper thin and very poorly insulated. You can hear toilets flushing all through the night. We had a problem with our air conditioning unit and reported it to maintenance twice. They came, but it continued to make a horrible noise throughout our stay. They are also very disorganized. It took us a long time to check in and out. Finally, we did not get the type room that we had made our reservation for. They had an excuse that there was a computer problem, but in reality, they gave our reservation to someone else because overbooking. We had notified them that we would be arriving late, and this was confirmed the day that we were supposed to arrive. We had to move to another room after the first night because we were right next to the road. Because of the thin insulated walls, you could hear the traffic on the road outside. On the sales tour, the salesman said that owners are given reservations even if they are already booked. They didn't honor the reservation that we had made many weeks ahead of time. I would never stay here again, even if they gave it to me free.
25 Bucks.. can't beat that!
Hey I was really leary of a resort that is onlt $25.00 and comes up as the first hit on google under Discount Hotels!!.. This place was great. The time share speech did take 1.5 hours, but that was what we agreed to up front. Pool, hot tub, everything was great.. not busy at all, very clean.. I'd go back if I could, but your only allowed 1 visit at the 25 buck rate.. Rooms were very large, nice patio, washing machine, dryer, stove, microwave, 2 tv's, vcr.. We stayed there for 5 days then moved to a Disnet resort.. the rooms there were super small and many times the price
