Friendly, comfortable rooms, reasonable price. We did not use kitchen but had a nice breakfast in the bar/restaurant . The swimming pool was nice. Great location is right next to the beach. Overall, everything was great. If I have the opportunity, and the prices stay the same, I will come. I can recommend this hotel to anyone.

Noisy Lux Mar!
We stayed at the Lux Mar Apartments in Aug 2007 for 4 nights, we were looking for somewhere just outside of all the action of Ibiza Town, but not too far away from it either. You can not fault the location, Figuretas is a lovely little resort, not too big and not too small, we were about a 5-10 minute stroll from the main beach and resort centre. There are many nice restaurants and bars in Figuretas. There was a swimming pool at the Lux Mar, however in the block we were staying at (the Tropical Gardens), the pool is completely overlooked by all the apartments, which are mainly occupied by young Italian men, so as two ladies in our early thirties we felt more comfortable going to the beach! Our room itself was actually for 4 people, and was a self catering apartment, there was a small kitchenette, with fridge and hob, remember to bring a bottle opener! We had plenty of space, however our balcony was tiny, and completely overlooked on either side, so we didn't use it. The main problems with the room was that the air conditioning didn't work properly. The day we arrived we couldn't work it, we told reception straightaway, and a man came in and seemed to fix it a bit, however it still wasn't working properly, so we spoke to reception again, and nobody came to see it, so for a third time we asked, and eventually someone came to have another look, however said there was a problem with it and that a engineer needed to come out. When we left after 4 nights it still had not been fixed, and in 30 degree + heat this was not ideal. Also our TV didn't work, but we did not complain about this, as we weren't watching our TV. I would recommend that anyone staying here hires a safety deposit box, there are many signs around the block, pointing out that the hotel is not responsible for loss of belongings and that robberies do take place. We also found the apartments very noisy, the clientele is mainly young male's, and are quite lively, day or night! Some decided to play football in the hotel corridor one evening. We also had a problem of our phone ringing in the middle of the night, and the caller would then hang up, we unpluged the phone in the end. In the mornings the maids come into your room quite early (especially if you've been out clubbing it the night before!). One morning they insisted on coming in and tidying the room around us! On a good note, the location is great, you could walk into Figueretas, and it was about a 25 minute walk into Ibiza town, or you could easily jump in a taxi for the cost of 5 euros. We had no problems getting around, we went to Space and Pacha while there and got taxi's there and back with no issues. Overall I would recommend staying in the resort of Figuretas, but if you want to get a decent nights sleep, I would stay somewhere else.
Great hotel for the price
Just got back from a 5 day stay at the Luxmar hotel with four of my friends. Couldn't fault the staff & service. On arrival at 5am there was a secure room to lock up your suitcases until our rooms were available. The rooms were a decent size with great air conditioning; the cleaners came in everyday and changed the towels/ bed linen unlike at a lot of hotels for this price. The general cleanliness & tidiness of the hotel was of a high standard. It had two pool area’s one large one which was shared with 2 other hotels and one small one of its own. Both pools were very clean and there were plenty of sun loungers available if you got there early ish (midday) We were self catering so didn't sample any food at the hotel but what we did see looked really nice :o) Overall a pleasant hotel to stay at and in a good location, shops and beach within 5 min walk and about a 20min walk to the main town.
Not brilliant, but okay for the price
I did a lot of research on the hotel before we decided to book - my first choice was the Nautico Ebeso - which is on the same road in Figueretas - but that was fully booked. If you want my advice, then try there first. It's a really nice looking hotel and it's over-subscribed for a good reason! Anyway, back to the Lux Mar. We checked in at about 4am and when I questioned if the room had a double bed they said 'no'. Even though I had booked a double room (with a double bed) through HotelsRus. They said that none of the rooms in the hotel have double beds - only two single beds which you can push together. So don't stay here if you're after a romantic weekend away - it ain't gonna happen. The staff also said that we'd be hard pushed to find a double bed in any hotel on the island as it's a common hotel practice to use two singles pushed together. The staff were really nice and helpful though - so I'll give them credit for that. We were less than impressed by the room when we got in it though. It was dark and dingy - with old furnishings and mattresses which were literally just thick foam and a sheet over them. God only knows what was living in them - it made my skin crawl. Our balcony looked on to a cliff - which was so close you could touch it - and the toilet paper which streamed from it. Nice. Not to mention the ant infestation in the kitchenette and the echoing bellows of party goers returning at 5am. As it was 4am we decided to stay put for 1 night and deal with it in the morning. We spoke to our booking agents and asked to be moved - but alas, all the hotels were fully booked. So we asked the manager to move rooms. She said they didn't have any better rooms, only worse ones. But we thought we'd check that out - as it couldn't get much worse. The room 202 she showed us to was much nicer, with a better view, better beds and so we decided to take it. It was only when we took a shower in the evening that we realised that it didn't have any hot water. At all. Nada. Zilch. So we resigned ourselves to cold showers for the long weekend as a compromise to a betterish room. Wait, there's more. We booked 'bed and breakfast' through HotelsRus - but the hotel wouldn't honour this as they said the booking agent hadn't paid them for it. This isn't the Lux Mar's fault - it's definitely mis-advertising from the booking agent. So my advice is to not use them. As for the positives, the food at the hotel was excellent - really cheap and really well cooked. So we ate there a couple of times. And trust me, I'm a food snob so hard to impress. The swimming pool area was clean and well looked after. It's a shame they didn't have any food or drink or toilet facilities around the pool, but at least it made room for more sunbeds. The only annoying thing was the amount of Italian Stallions roaming around the pool in their speedos - constantly checking their package is still there. Urgh. The location is excellent as well. A 20min walk to Ibiza Town, 5mins to Figueretas for some nice food or a cab ride to Playa D'en Bossa for Space and the other good clubs there. It's got a nice vibe to the area - enough party goers to make it fun, but not so much you feel like you're in chav-central San Antonio. Overall - the hotel is okay for the price you pay - but I think we just had some bad luck with our booking agent who mis-advertised the room as a double and that it came with the breakfast. Oh and buy yourselves a 6 pack of water from the local shop for €3.5 - rather than paying €2 for one litre at the bar. Rip off.
Do not visit the Lux Mar if you want a restful break
We stayed at the Lux Mar at the end of June and although the hotel is reasonably clean, it is not suitable for families. There were parties going on and people running up and down the corridors shouting and screaming until 07.00 am. We complained to security a couple of times and they did their best but they were overwhelmed really. the hotel is in a pleasant location but it is more suitable for hen/stag holidays or young couples who are looking to go to the night clubs and be up all night. Plenty of space around the pool during the day as most people were recovering in their rooms from the night before. Some of the reception staff were pleasant but towards the end of our stay they decided to start charging 50 cents to ring a taxi for you, i have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never been asked for payment to ring a taxi. Cleaning staff very surly and not very thorough.
Good hotel, great location
Just returned from a 4-day break at Lux Mar. My party consisted of 9 females, on a hen weekend and given how cheap the hotel was, we were impressed with the accommodation and facilities. Although I'd have to admit that we didn't spend that much time at the hotel, nor did we eat there BUT those people who did sample the food certainly did not complain. It's about 15 min stroll into Ibiza town, which is ideal given the lack of taxi's at 5am. Head on down to Figueretas beach, it's about 5min walk - with lots of cafes, restaurants and grocery stores. We sampled Marco's on the waterfront, which looked great however the food was slightly disappointing for some. They seem to love salt ... and the seafood was dire. If your sticking to pasta and steak then you'd be happy. We chartered a yacht to take us over to Formentera, it cost about £90 per person, including fuel/drinks etc. But if there are only two of you, hop onto the many boat trips. We had lunch at Juan y Andrea, the food is superb ... try the sea salt crusted seabass ... well worth the money. All in all, Lux Mar is a great standard hotel. Excellent base to sample other parts of the island and within walking distance of Playa d'en Bossa and Ibiza Town. Brill for groups, singles and couples BUT not families.
Second time lucky!
We stayed in this hotel back in 2005 and were impressed then, and our view of the place improved further this year when we checked into a much bigger room with a sea view and large balcony! Also, we didn't experience any problems with check-in this time and the whole process ran very smoothly. The standard of accommodation was, again, basic but extremely clean and more than adequate for our needs. For the price we paid it was superb value. The decor had obviously been well maintained since our last visit, as the place didn't appear to have changed at all! You can't really go far wrong with this hotel as a base for exploring Ibiza town and beyond. It's also great if you've hired a car as there is a free car park just around the corner where you can usually find a space! If you get the chance dine out at Soleado restaurant on the waterfront nearby - quite simply the best cuisine in Figueretes and the most romantic setting, right on the beach. They have superb evening menu offers as well, such as three courses for around €18, with superb quality food. We have returned three years in a row to this place, love it!
Great location: easy way to the city and sea!
Here's a tip for easily getting to the old, amzing city-fortress, Dalt Vila, in Eivissa where Hotel Lux mar is situated. When leaving the hotel from the main entrance you can go to the right and reach the beach in about 10 min. If you go the left following a small (rather dusty) road up the hill and down again to a small motorway, there's a tunnel on your left, made also for walking, which will take you straight to one of the entrances of the old, charming city-fortress of Eivissa town in just about 10 min. The Hotel-apartments are a bit isolated from the noise of the city, but still so close by that the location is perfect!
fantastic value for money
Have stayed at the Central Playa before in Figueretas which is part of the same chain. may i say these apartments are fantastic value for money. 2 pools, very friendly staff, good basic rooms and everywhere is spotless. The cleaners are on the go all day !! they clean the rooms and change towels every day !! The whole hotel is bright and fresh and Figueretas is a lovely resort, so laid back but within 5-10 min stroll of Ibiza Town centre.....perfect !! Gonna book up again in Sept !!
Give it a miss, what a dump!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A group of 6 of us, 2 guys 4 girls, booked 3 rooms 4 months in advance and asked for them to be close together. All 3 were in different buildings and none had the sea view we had requested and paid for. Our room was over the kitchen and stank of food with the balcony unusable as it was covered in grease from the kitchen extractor fans. The noise coming fom the kitchens early in the morning made it impossible to get a decent nights sleep along with the noisy people in the next rooms slamming doors. A/C didn't work properly and was extremely noisy. We asked to change rooms but were told there were none and we should contact our travel agent if we were unhappy and ask to be moved to another, better hotel; great endorsement of the hotel from the staff! One of the guys on the front desk was intimidating to one of our girls and refused to order her a taxi unless she had a threesome with him! Front desk staff are rude and show no interest in helping the guests with the simplest requests. We stayed here 3 years ago and the experience was much better, so perhaps it's changed hands since then or something. Won't stay here again, but did enjoy the location. Next time stay at the Los Molinos across the road which is superb, but more expensive.
Hotel well enjoyed
We arrived to the hotel at 7 AM where we hoped they had rooms avaliable. However, of course they didnt and we had no choice but to wait till 2 in the afternoon for people to check out and clean the room. We did not want to put our things away in a storage room due to some reviews that i had read that things were stolen. So we waited around the hotel for 4 hrs watching people stroll in from the clubs the whole morning. Which was pretty entertaining. Finally they put us in a room at 1PM with a great view of the pool and all the other rooms. The best part of the hotel was around 9-2am everyone would come out of their rooms screaming and singing where the security guards would try to quit us down (which was impossible) Enjoyed that Everything was awsome besides the fact that not one person in the whole town of IBIZA spoke one word of English during the week i was there. And it was almost impossible to get a taxi in this city. Little scary feeling stranded. However we learned how to speak to people with expressions ... I would defintaly stay here again for the price though i would learn to speak Italian and Spanish a little bit better,,, Would probbaly get treated a little bit better.
