Four of us stayed here and hired a car locally to explore the island of Fuerteventura. The apartments are situated about fifteen to twenty minutes stroll to the Main Street and probably no more than thirty minutes from the main harbour and commercial centre of Corralejo.
The beauty of these apartments are that the beach is about twenty five yards from the apartment (down a lane at the side and you are 'literally' on the beach) and the walk to the harbour along the beach front is therefore shorter. It's a great location for jogging on the sand if the mood takes you. Turning right along the beach you can eventually reach the villa of Los Remos (also featured on this website) where we have stayed before, and masses of sand dunes and no-one but the nudists who have taken over this particular area (well out of site of the resort and these villas) Turning left from the villas it's a glorious stroll along the beach to the harbour with the Island of Lobos standing proud for all to see. Indeed, the island of Lobos provides a wonderful view from Majoreas villas. The villa we stayed in had its own private swimming pool and attendant sun loungers. The villa was beautifully clean and nicely decorated. And carried a starter pack in the fridge. There was a cooker and television and all the things you need for self catering. The kitchen was well appointed for short stay holidays, and it was spotless. I suggest it was better than some of the bigger chains we've stayed in. I think it was the second day of our holiday we locked ourselves out. We rang the telephone number provided for maintenance etc and within the hour a local tradesman had attended, bored a hole in the door, fitted a new lock, and given us a replacement key together with a friendly piece of advice about not misplacing your key. How was that for service? Brilliant! There are so many good restaurants in the area that to mention them all would require a website in itself. We found that the best restaurants for fish and Tapas were located in the harbour and the square to the rear of the harbour. These are locally owned and it shows because the waiters and staff are friendly. In the square itself you can listen to live music and entertainment every night of the week or if you prefer to chill out you can watch the sun go down at the Mesquaiena (I think that is the correct name) which is the restaurant running alongside the harbour wall. We took a boat trip to the island of Lobos and found seclusion in totality. There is one cafe in the centre of the island of Lobos where you can get a snack and a drink, but the reason for going to the island is to explore. Take a pick nick if you want. There's nothing on the island but don't be put off - walk and explore the beauty of a commercialised island. There are some great places to swim from - the water here really is clear as crystal - and there's a very safe lagoon near the arrivals dock for the kids to play in. And you get a fantastic view of Corralejo and the Para gliders and sail boards. It's worth the visit but the journey back was a bit choppy, so do be prepared to take the odd swell. Corralejo is a place we have visited often before but if you do visit the island hire a car and go south and east. Check out El Coltillo and it's fabulous coast line.
