Terrazamar Suite Hotel Reviews
" great holiday "

This is by far the best apartments that we have stay at in Puerto Rico.
Our rooms were very clean and looked fairly new, the balcony's are huge! You get a table and four chairs, two sunloungers and a parasol on the balcony and there is still pleny of space.
The apartments are about a five minute walk from the centre and a fifteen minute walk from the beach. They are not that high up the hill so the walk up the stairs isnt too bad. If you dont like walking, then you can walk through to the Trezzamar and get a lift down to ground level.
There is the water park which is a five minute walk away from the apartments.
I didnt see one cockroach in our apartments or in the complex itself. The pool is very clean and the grounds are well maintained.
The restaurant is really good although when we were there the bar was quite quiet.
Taxi's are very cheap, going to the Europa centre at the top of the hill is about 4euros and not much more for going to Amaddores beach.
All in all i would definately recommend staying at the sun suites and if we go back to Puerto Rico again that is where we will be staying!

This is the second time to these apartments and once again we had a wonderful holiday. Although I have a couple of gripes this time round. The pool area whilst spacious had a lack of sunbeds this year resulting in all of the sunbeds and parasols being reserved and then no one actually using them all day. It meant that families with children were forced to sit out in the sun until someone stole other peoples sunbeds and parasols. The hotel needs to stop this. Also we have requested late checkout twice now and both times have been told it is unavailable, the first time we were told that we could not get it because we didn't have children with us and this time told the hotel was too busy. Not the hotel's fault but there were also a number of noisy guests at the hotel which meant very disturbed nights of sleep throughout our stay. However, the weather was fantastic and despite the above, we would return to the hotel again.

Just back from holiday and it was brilliant, had a horrendous flight from Aberdeen so was'nt in the best of moods when we arrived in Puerto Rico, but then everything turned for the better, we were meant to be in the terrazamar suite apartments but on arriving at the reception we were told we were upgraded to the Royal Suites, even though you have a bit to walk they were fantastic, a 5ft fridge with large freezer, a huge bed, large bathroom, and as said in other reviews a fantastic balcony with sun beds table chairs and parasol. I have been to Puerto Rico 5 times and these were the best yet, we ate in the Panorama restaurant once and was dissapointed, I ordered fillet steak and it was obviously rump, it was not cheap either. We went to the Royal pool most mornings and it was great, no kids and very few people, if thats what you like, but if you were wanting company the Sun Suites pool is quite busy,
Now Puerto Rico itself, well I have been coming here for the last 10 years and it's really getting shabby, I found it a hassle in the CC with the Lookie Lookie men (I was here with my daughter) we ate a few times at Sam Migels but the last meal we had was chicken and believe me it really was an old hen, when we ate just a wee bit and left the rest, no one asked why we left our meal so a bit dissapointed. But!! across from there is the
CAFE ROYAL beautiful food and reasonable price, one night we decided to have a special meal there and we ordered Chateuebriannd (fillet of beef) and it was the best ever, better than you get at Oscars and half the price, also the service was excellent, went on a trip to Morgan if going, visit a wee cafe called Mozarts just at the end of the harbour been there a few times the steak sandwich is to die for and just 6 euros. Would I go back, only if I was with my daughter, but would stay more in the apartments and occassionally go just to the Cafe Royal.

" Booked our family holiday for... "

Booked our family holiday for Terrazamar Suite apartments four weeks before travelling and overall had a lovely holiday but a few minor issues. We travelled with two young children (2 and 6) on a late night flight (Thomas Cook) and arrived in the early hours of the morning. Las Palmas airport was very efficient in off-loading our baggage but we then had problems finding our travel rep.
We had booked private taxi transfers through Apollo direct but unfortunately they had not sent us the correct documents with our booking receipt and so we then had to find our own transport, with no travel rep in sight. Took a taxi from the airport (cost approx. 50 euros) to Peurto Rico and the taxi driver was very pleasant and spoke a little English (helps if your phrase book is in your suitcase!). Dropped us at the Terrazamar Suite reception with our luggage and then the reception then told us we had in fact been allocated rooms at the Terrazamar Sun Suite which was just opposite the apartments. We then had to drag our luggage (along with two tired children) over the road, no help was offered.
At the Terazzamar Suite reception we were delighted to find luggage trolleys (need 1 euro) and a helpful receptionist who handed us our key (card) and directed us to our room. We were on the sixth floor but there are lifts and rooms are easy to find, or would have been if there were lights on in the corridors! Had problems turning on the electricity (need to slot key card in box but not easy to find in the dark!).
Was happy to find the rooms are just as described on-line and were clean, cool and spacious with modern fixtures and fittings. The children took the bedroom and we took the sofa bed, which is quite comfortable (honestly!). There is a ceiling fan in the main living area (tv, coffee table, dining table, sofa bed) but you can pay extra for air conditioning (we did not find it necessary as it cooled down slightly at night). The kitchen was compact but had everything we needed (complementary bottle of water in the fridge), shower room clean with plenty of towels. Balcony was great, very large with table, chairs, parasol and two sunloungers. We had a view overlooking the pool and more or less all apartments has a view of the sea.
Peurto Rico is purpose built so there are apartments everywhere you look but never the less Gran Canaria is a beautiful Island and the views of the mountains are quite spectacular. We used two pools whilst we were there, the pool of the Terrazamar Suite was smaller and quieter with a seperate childrens pool area. Pools were never really busy with plenty of sunloungers and parasols. We were a little disappointed with the childrrens play equipment on this floor as most was broken and in need of repair and the sand around the area had been used as an ashtray and was full of cigarette butts. The pool on the 10th floor was lovely, larger and to be honest the childrens pool was better there too with small play house, see-saw, swings and kept the children happy!
There is entertainment around the pool at night but we did not take advantage of this and to be honest I think the reps struggled to fill a table at this time of year. Was not impressed with the restaurant on the 11th floor. Waiters lovely and keen to please but the menu was very 'British' (egg and chips, english breakfast, burger and chips, chicken nuggets and chips, steak and chips, chips and chips). We were keen to try something a little more 'Spanish' so only ate here the once.
The reception area has a small shop (reasonable prices), a bar and bakery selling fresh bread, muffins, donuts, icecream, take-away pizza, sky tv (showing sport), comfortable sofas, internet connections, safe boxes (available for small fee), and luggage room. There are pool tables and football tables and outside seating with parasols.
There is a water park five minutes walk away from the apartments as well as a busy shopping centre selling the usual holiday souvenirs. Some nice restaurants but again a lot of themed pubs, English, Irish, Chinese, Indian, McDonalds something for everyone but nothing very Spanish (which is why we came to Spain!). Everyone wants you to eat at their restaurant and there are lots of touts, 'no thank you' and 'we have just eaten thank you' roll off the tongue with ease within a few hours but the children were happy as they were generous with the lollypops when we glanced at the menu and assured them we may return later! Lots to keep you busy during the day with trampolines, crazy golf, childrens playground.
Peurto Rico beach is a pleasant 15 minute walk and easy to find but the kerbs are steep. Easy to navigate with pushchair/pram, a little more difficult with a wheelchair. There are lots of steps in Peurto Rico but there are alternate routes with ramps if you are prepared to travel a little further. There is a public pool by the beach (small fee) lots of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The beach itself is man made, clean but feels quite cramped with all the sunbeds. We chose to hire a parasol and sit on the sand (not much room around the sunloungers for building sandcastles). The sea itself was clean and cool but very rocky after walking out approx 1 metre so not ideal for younger children. You can take a boat ride from the port here, glass bottom boats, pirate ship, pedalos, fishing trips, scuba diving, snorkelling, lots of activities to fill your day.
We hired a car on our second day (with child seats for no extra fee) and this meant we could explore the island a little more. Bear in mind you will be driving on the other side of the road with right hand gears. Takes a bit of getting used to driving and as the kerbs are steep (when there are no kerbs there are ditches!), we drove very slowly for the first few days. Roads are fairly quiet and drivers are patient. Lots of roundabouts and fairly easy to navigate.
Ten minutes away in the car is Amadores beach, picture perfect with beautiful sand/shingle and lovely blue sea. This was our favourite of all the beaches and we spent most of our days here. Gentle waves, great for sandcastles, public showers, toilets (small fee), lovely childrens park. We also visited Playa del Ingles (nice beach but we found it too busy), great shopping, lots of cafes, much busier than Peurto Rico. Maspalomas is stunning but parking is tricky. Stunning Nature Reserve, sand dunes, lighthouse, camel rides, shops are more upmarket and expensive rather than souvenir shops. Beach here is really busy and the sea is not great for swimming or children. We found the sand too hot, the beach too big for little ones but it is definitely worth a trip. Drove to Mogan but couldn't find the market, roads are very steep so didn't look for too long!
Had one small problem when the the apartments were cleaned. The towels were changed every day, floor cleaned, beds made and sheets changed when necessary but domestics did not bother to check the laundry they were removing. Over the course of the first week our daughters cuddly toy disappeared (did not make anything of this as she had brought two teddies and was not too bothered), but one evening my son realised his cuddly toy (favourite thing in the whole wide world and cannot sleep without it!) had gone too. Two sleepless nights and six visits to reception and three receptionists (who were looking into it) before they were returned with no apology!
Overall we had a very enjoyable holiday. Apartments were very nice, not quite the four star they are rated to be. Evenings entertainment may keep younger ones awake during peak season as it can be quite noisy in the evening but ours had no trouble sleeping as they were exhausted by bed time!
One more thing I just have to mention is Las Palmas airport on the return journey. Check in opens exactly two hours before and not a second earlier. If you have children do not get there too early in the hope they will let you through earlier as they do not! Queues are long and slow and the shops are sooooo expensive! 1 packet of Haribo sweets 4.30 euros (about £3.80), one small Marsbar 1.60 euros (about £1.30), one small shell 5.60 euros (about £4.80), one Hotwheels car (can be bought in UK for £1.00) was 4.60 euros. Buy all your souvenirs in your resort and do not wait until the airport!

" Having had an amazing week at the... "

Having had an amazing week at the Terrazamar at the same time last year, we decided to go back as we were so impressed with the cleanliness and efficiency of the hotel.
However, we were disappointed to find that the standards that so endeared us to this hotel have sadly slipped.
Upon arrival we were placed in an apartment directly across from the Irish karaoke bar that is located opposite even though we specifically asked for a quiet room (we have a baby).
The room had obviously not been used in a while as it was very musty smelling and cobwebs were everywhere. The sheets we had been given were stained with an ominous brown liquid, there were ants in the main room and cockroaches in the bathroom.
We asked to be moved first thing in the morning and were finally given a new, quieter room at 1.30 in the afternoon. This room was also a bit grubby and the patio/balcony was covered in pigeon poo! I had to get a bottle of disinfectant myself and clean it as I could not let my son out there to play otherwise.
The incredible maid service we had last year had fallen by the wayside as our room was "cleaned" only once in our stay and to be honest I think a mop was just waved at the floor and that was it!
The resort itself has also become very tired...even just in the past year, everywhere seemed a bit rundown and grubby and the touting for your evening meal in the centres has become almost frenzied with shouting and insults about other restaurants being fired at you from all angles.
The saving graces are that there are far fewer Anfi timeshare reps (hooorah!!) and for a genuine welcome and amazing food, try Los Geranimos...a tiny little place squeezed between 2 large restaurants on the top tier of the central centre.. the service is second to none.
I wish this review could be a bit more positive but I believe honesty to be the best policy and I would not return to Puerto Rico...I’ll leave it to the young party goers that seem to be flocking there now.

We stayed here in August 2006. The apartments are very spacious with living area, separate kitchen, separate bedroom, bathroom with double shower and huge balcony with 2 sun loungers, table, parasol and chairs.
The pool area is lovely and spacious as well with lots of loungers and also a pool bar. The only real problem we had was the cockroaches that lived in our bathroom, however the hotel staff left a tin of "Baygone" to spray in the bathroom and the cockroaches disappeared after a couple of days.
The other slight problems were being unable to sleep due to the heat in the apartments at night, air conditioning would be a huge plus and also being put out your apartment at 12:00 when not getting picked up until 22:00, this is a long time to wait especially when there is not a courtesy room available, the only room available is a shower block downstairs from the pool which is just like going to any swimming pool.
Puerto Rico is a bit tired and in need of some upgrading especially the Europa Centre at the top of the hill but apart from that we did have a nice holiday and the weather was exceptionally warm - 35+ everyday.

Nice and Clean daily maid service. Not much going on but within walking distance of the centre. Very spacious balcony with table chairs and 2 loungers. Small shop in reception.
Good sized pool with plenty of loungers. Far enough from the centre to not be disturbed by the night life.

Went to Terazzamar Sunsuites in May. They were very clean and comfortable. The balcony was very big and spacious.
The pool area was very big and there were plenty of sun beds. The pool side bar was very nice and the staff were very pleasant. Wish there was more sun beds on balcony to cater for all 4 people. The Sunsuites were close to all amenities. Did not find it expensive.
Would definitely go back again.

What a fantastic holiday. The apartments were great very clean and well furnished and spacious.
The balcony was the best we have ever had furnished with table and chairs and sun loungers 25 feet -10 feet. The weather was hot and sunny what more could one ask for. Plenty of facilities and helpful staff and within easy reach of resort center.
We would certainly return there again.

The apartments were cleaned 5 out of 7 days with clean towels and linen 3 times a week.As reviews before have said, words cannot describe the size of the balconies. We had room 1602 and this was an even bigger balcony than most others. there were 2 sunloungers and a table and 4 chairs on each and still room to have loads more! People very friendly here.
Mama Pinos restaurant in the commercial centre a must also San Miguel restaurant.Waiters very very nice, cant do enough for you.
Casino Royale is a night not to be missed that can be organised through the reps, excellent cabaret night.
All in all we thouroughly enjoyed our visit here and we will definately be back. We were 2 families with 4 teenagers in the party so finding a place that pleases them proves difficult, but this was definately it!
