Lovely view of the sea
from lisa83
Stayed here for a week during half term. Excellent location close to bars and restaurants in both the new & old part of the town. Lovely pool area, which was being cleaned and maintained every day. Apartments were basic but were clean and had everything you need for a stay. However, there is no air conditioning and would see this as a problem in the summer months. Maid came in everyday and throughly cleaned the apts, they even did the washing up if there was any. All the staff were really pleasant. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was nice, you could get your normal bacon eggs etc. Saved us a lot of money not having to go out for breakfast. Would definately stay here again during the winter months.
Very Good

Just returned from spending a week, had a great time. The hotel was very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms basic but clean, we received clean towels everyday and the room was cleaned every day.No complaints !!
Rubbish all inclusive
from tess1222222
Stayed at this hotel all inclusive and was very disappointed. This hotel wasn't what we thought it be. Rooms were ok but were for self cartering basis as the room had its own kitchen. We had been there for 3 days and yet had not had our rooms cleaned or a change of towels. We complained to reception about this and it was only then we had a cleaner and a change of towels. We did not have a cleaner then for the rest of our stay. The food ( what a laugh! ) was not very good unless you like chinese food every night but then was no choice to pick from. Snacks again was rubbish, all you could choose from everyday was a toastie or a chicken burger with chips. The drinks that we were aloud were lager, wine or a soft drink, all were served in a half pint glass, only paying customers were aloud pint glasses. Breakfast was good as they knew how to cook this. Felt we were been watched all the time. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Overall we would give this 2 out 10. Also if you are not very good on your legs like my wife there is a very steep hill and it is called cardiak hill no suprise as it will probably give you an heart attack.
Basic & Clean but go Self Catering not All Inclusive
from GirlsfromEdinburgh
We stayed at the Kontiki form 4th - 11th Nov (4 females aged 40+).This is a truthful review. These apartments are basic and clean. The pool area is nice and there is a roof top area with sun loungers, great if your hungover and looking for peace and quiet to sleep it off. We found all the Reception,Maids and Restaurant staff very friendly We went All Inclusive which is actually called All Inclusive Light. Breakfast is ok your usual bacon, egg, tomato etc. Lunch consists of Burger roll, chicken roll or cheese & ham toastie served with chips and salad. it tastes ok but this is on the menu every day, never changes. Tea-Time, well to be honest we went into the restaurant on our first night had a look and walked back out,not very appealling, probably better off with Lunch-time menu and as for drinks, spirits are not included you can only have lager, wine or juice. The pool area is cleaned every night, the maid comes in every day once you have made a complaint, dont leave it until day 3 like we did, its nice to have clean towels every day but this rarely happens anywhere, every second day would be acceptable. These apartments are in an excellent location, you just walk down a short but very steep hill (quite difficult with high heels on)and you are right beside the beach, pubs, clubs, restaurants and shops. Talent, sorry, not in the Kontiki, well except for 1 guy from Manchester who was waiting for his brother at the front door on The Thursday morning so they could book a taxi to the airport, only one problem he had better ideas he was lying stretched out on a lounger having a snooze at the poolside. ( If your reading this you will know who you are, its always nice to get a compliment. Hope your brother didnt make you too late for your flight). Will be returning to The Kontiki (Self Catering only), Hopefully going back around the same time next year. .
Please dont go all inclusive
from Girlsfromwales
We stayed at the hotel Kon Tiki Club what a nightmare the bar and restuarant were run by Chinesse and they monitored everything that we ate and drank not that it was a lot as the food in the restuarant was in very short supply, no starters or puddings and every day for lunch would be burger or toastie and chips, the only drink that was in the package was wine lager or soft drink and the saying was one drink per person so if you wanted a wine and soda unless your room mate was to go without a drink it was a no no. The hotel was based on what the locals called cardiac hill by the time you reached the top you needed oxygen and thats no joke. My advise is to stay well clear of this hotel unless you are going self catering they fall over themselves to serve you when they can see you have money in your hand., after the experience at this hotel I certainly do not want to do another all inclusive package again.
Nice but don't go all inc!
from seorasmac
I have just returned from a week all inclusive stay at the kon-tiki club hotel in Lanzarote. The hotel is for a 3 star hotel quite impressive. There is always working going on with someone painting, sweeping or cleaning somewhere! The room was a great size with a well equiped kitchen, hob, toaster, coffee machine, microwave. No air conditioning however the window had a grill on it so you could safely leave it open and go out and there was a very good fan at no extra charge in the room. There was free tv but the usual 1 English channel cnn! However the maid came on day 2 of our stay and only reappeared on day 5 with fresh towels only after we went to complain. The sheets were not changed for our whole stay although this was disguised by making the beds!?! We had a fantastic view of the sea although we never asked for one and there were plenty of complaints that people had paid extra for one and never recieved one. We were also fairly far up the hill which meant we had no street noise but again there were plenty of complaints about the noise from the street bars and clubs! The Hill, heart attack hill i believe its called locally! Its not too bad! From bottom to top takes only about 3 minutes but its just so steep! Definately easier when you have had a few drinks! The further up the hill you are the less noise you get so for a 3 minute climb its worth it!! The location is great a few bars and shops and restaurants at the bottom of the hill and only 5 minute stroll to some of the bigger clubs. At the bottom of the hill straight accross the road a very well looked after beach with plenty going on. All inclusive is a joke! Breakfast, lunch and dinner each served for 2 hours thats it! A choice of 3 or 4 things but the same things every single day! Toasty, hamburger or chicken burger for lunch every single day! We go all inc every year always 3 or 4 star we know what to expect this was a rip off! The quality was not a problem it was tasty but never enough! No choice! I can eat pasta every night I have done it on other holidays as long as there is a choice but no carbonara or beef stew was your dinner options! All inclusive drinks again same thing beer or soft drinks or wine NO spirits the waiting staff (2 of them) also work the bar so there was usually a wait! No ice cream, no fruit and no snacks! Seemingly its called all inclusive light! If I had got a bargain and not paid over £400 for 1 week all inc I would not have minded, but everyone staying for more than one week or with kids complained so much they all got moved to a 4 star! If you are getting a good deal then go for it if its a full price offer stay well away you will feel when you come home that you were robbed!
Not All Inclusive
from ladylemmy
The hotel was clean, lovely pool, great view from sun terrace you could look out to sea, we even knew about the hill they call cardiac hill if you dont have walking problems its no probs. The problem was the food, We went all inclusive and there was no local produced spirits no ice cream The juice machine had warm water and juice you couldnt get tea and coffee when you liked because the restaurant was closed the restaurant was subleased from the hotel by a chineese couple and basically the food was crap! the bar was opened at 12pm and shut by 10pm there was no entertainment. Some families moved to other allinclusive hotels but had to pay a fee. We didnt bring that amount of money as we have gone allinclusive before and no what should have been included. If you want a brilliant base for bars restaurants and beach and you are self catering this one would be for you. now we are trying to get compensation as we had to eat out!!! and didnt get the holliday sold to us.
Ummmmm a difficult one!
from WalesWelshlass
This is a difficult one so i thought best sum it up with good points and bad points as follows: GOOD: lovely hotel - very clean, well equiped, excellent location, plenty of sunloungers; nice food BAD: no welcome pack on arrival so not informed of amenities, dinner times etc; hotel staff speak no english - even the simplest things like straw and butter could not be understood; food choice was very poor - i was all inclusive and expected a selection of starters, main and deserts but got no starters to choose from, a choice of pasta, beef, chicken or fish for main and tin fruit as the only choice for desert; no entertainment - not even a pathetic quiz or game of bingo; unfriendly staff - i never seen one crack a smile the whole time we were there!; bar shuts at 10pm - not a second after. Looking at the above it appears that the bad points clearly outweigh the good. I think our main problem was being all inclusive as we found ourselves in a catch 22 situation, we either sat in silence staring into the bottom of a glass to drink what we had already paid for or we left the hotel in search of something more livier, making the holiday a very expensive one. My advice if you have to go to this hotel avoid the all inclusive option as you will only be disappointed. We relied on the toby jug for our evening entertainment which i would highly recommend for a bit of family fun, they also do a delicious roast.
Great Hotel
from lisajanex
Kon-tiki club hotel is great for a 2/3 star accomadation. The beach is just across the road, and the shops bars and nightlife is very close. The apartments are very clean, and most overlook the sea, rooms are fully equipped and the pool is great. It was being remodernised while we were there. There is also sun loungers on the roof. We stayed all inclusive, but not a good idea as you do not get what is stated. The restuarant and pool bar is not owned by the hotel, but by chinese people and you eat chinese food every night, but only a choice of 2/3 dishes. Theres not much selection of food in general and only soft drinks, local beers and wines are included. The poolbar should open at 11.00am but does not open till 1.00pm and closes at 8pm, so you can not get any drinks after this time. Also because the restuarant manager is only given a small amount of money to accomadate the all inclusive residents you are monitered by what you are drinking. Overall a great holiday and i would return again but self catering as the rooms are fully equipped, and is perfect for the beach, bars, shops and nightlife.
Brilliant Holiday
from k8mol
My holiday here was a couple of years ago but as there don't seem to be many reviews of these apartments online I hope my review may be of use to someone. Me and my partner stayed at these apts for 2 weeks in September 04. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival to see that the apartments overlook the beach and that the main strip was just at the bottom of the hill. (No noise heard at night) Personally, I didnt find this hill much of a challenge but certainly not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Luckily, the entrance to our apartment was nearer to the bottom of the hill than some others. Rooms - Im not a fan of high rise hotels so these apartment were ideal as they were over 2 floors and not overcrowded. The rooms were very basic but clean and although our balcony was a reasonable size, we didnt have the best view. The apartments overlooking the pool area are lovely. The maid did a brilliant job and even washed any pots. The main problem was the fact that at the time of our visit (may have changed since) the apts did not have fans and were not air conditioned. The heat at night was almost unbearable and me and my partner spent 13 of our 14 nights sleeping on the narrow sofa's with a fan that we had to buy from a shop. This was a major negative. Therefore, not that impressed with rooms. The pool area is gorgeous with a massive roof terrace overlooking the beach. This was definitely a major plus for the hotel. Food - The strip seemed to go on forever. There were many bars, restaurants, arcades and shops. We ate at the New World Chinese on our first night which was a bad mistake. I read a review that recommended this place but the food was terrible and my stomach didnt agree with my meal that night. I highly recommend taking a 10-15 min stroll to the Old town (shopping mall on way here too ) to pay a visit to La Cascada Puerto by the habour. The food was excellent. Make note that this restaurant is hugely popular and expect to que to get into the restaurant after 7.30pm. As it is so popular, all the tables are crammed together so maybe not the most romantic of places but the food was fantastic. You must also visit 'The Place' which is about a 20 minute walk from the apartments. Do a left at the bottom of cardiac hill and when you come to Golden Corner on the right of the strip turn right. There is a small sign. This was the best steak I had on holiday. Just a shame we only found it on our last night. It is down a passage to the beach so easily missed. We ate once in the Kon Tiki restaurant and had a lovely meal. We were all alone in the restaurant. Note that you will be pestered none stop by PR's. Just say no thankyou and carry on otherwise you will end up with pockets full of flyers. And beware of the "buy one get one free" offers. The cost of the 1 drink would cover the cost of 2 at home so not really getting one free. Excursions - The aquapark was a good day out. Lots of fun but quite pricey. We also went on the submarine. Pricey considering we were only on it for 40minutes but a good experience. I rate this accommodation based on service, pool area and location. If the rooms were air conditioned, the apts would have been worthy of a Excellent (5) review.
When we first arrived, we were'nt given the rooms we had booked as we had booked 2 appartments of 4 but they gave us 4 appartments of 2, some of which were close to each other, some were'nt. We thought they might do something like this as we were a group of young girls so... more
