La Siesta Hotel
, Playa De Las AmericasLa Siesta Hotel Reviews
NEGATIVES:I booked this hotel because it was advertised as a 4star, in my opinion it is more like a 3star. All the reception staff were rude, bar 1 who was lovely. The majority of waiters / waitresses were nice however 2 in particular were awful. I was charged 81 euro for a 9minute local call and after 3 days of arguing it was reduced to 9euro..... NO information at all is given in the rooms re charges or services and when i asked about call charges i was informed that they only know how much something will be when you have made the call!!!!! 2 other people had inflated bar charges..... you cannot pay as you go for drinks etc in this hotel it is all charged to your room/card. Unless you are at the pool by 9am you have NO CHANCE of getting a lounger. Beds are very uncomfortable; if you have a bad back forget it.
GOOD POINTS:Food is ok. Great location though and close to the beach. Nice rooms.
- Advice: Loro park and siam parks are a must!!!!!

Just got back from a 14 night stay from 12th Aug to 26th Aug Room 333. This was my 4th visit to this hotel with my partner and small child in the same number of years.
There are a lot of people who complain about very trivial things but I guess that is in our nature no matter where we are. This is a lovely hotel, Granted there are other hotels that boast a more impressive reception area but speeking to residents they are not happy with size of rooms etc...
La Siesta gave us a very warm welcome and the reception staff are very professional with a warm approch.
The rooms are large and very clean, the cleaners are excellent. The resturaunt is huge with a very wide variaty of choice for all, and the waiters are brilliant, constantly serving and ammusing the children.
The pool is brilliant, an adult could touch the pool floor no matter where you stand, It is clean and along with the pool area cleaned every morning. Sunbeds are not an issue, Ive seen on many occasion people strolling down at 1pm and having no trouble finding space.
No matter where you sit you will still be able to keep a close eye on your young.
The entertainers work extremely hard to try and keep both adults and children ammused, The kids love them.
The location is unbeatable, Designer shops, Tat shops, bars, beach, resturaunts all within sight.
The atmosphere is very calm.
If you want a holiday to moan about then it is irrelivent where you go, you will find something to complain about.
If you are looking to enjoy a good holiday this hotel and location is a great choice.
I have already booked for next Aug.
Thank you La Siesta.
S/K/Amy

First time I've ever reviewed a hotel. La siesta is friendly, clean and welcoming. Not a huge monstrosity of a building with only 4 floors, in the heart of playa with the main bars and entrainment a stone throw away, but so quiet you wouldn't believe the location. Rooms spotless, all seem to have sofa area that converts to double bed for families but still spacious. Has fridge minibar but locked unless you subscribe 25 euros for fridge pack. Air conditioning amazing. Food good, has everything you could want, typical bacon, sausage, eggs, fruit, croissants, cereals for breakfast and evening meals has a variety of dishes that would suit even the most fussy pallets. Pool devine, no inflatables allowed and it's salt water, beds can be difficult to get (only real negative). Area particularly flat for those with mobility issues. Hotel has a no cash policy but very secure and you can check your balance anytime from the friendly reception staff (saves loads on tipping). Bar staff very slow. Lots of different nationalities use this hotel with no specific age group but would say mostly family orientated with shared adult and children daily entertainment, kids disco every evening and they seem to love it (mostly for girls, dancing routines to songs) but adult entertainment quite poor. NOT for those animal rights activists, have animal shows brought in each evening (basically to make money through photos) but quite cruel to animals involved specifically eagle who gets poked in the chest for each photo so it opens it's wings (disgusting), but will only stop when people refuse photos or complain like I did.

Having recently spent one wk at this Hotel,4th-10th July, I would seriously advise others to "seek better hotels nearby", as this is NOT comparable to any 4 star that I have ever stayed in. Even Dacil Hotel in Los Christianas 3 star, could show them what good food is!
The Hotel has a main Rd running alongside it which is very noisy especially from midnight to 7am, when revellers from the "Veronicas" area, pass by, then dust cart lorries start their banging at 6am!
Air con in our double room was not working, only giving out an irritating drumming noise. It was impossible to "draw curtains, close windows / doors, as it was far too hot during the night.
We did complain to our Hol Rep, who said he had so many complaints that he had to call a meeting to get help!!
The food was safe for breakfast, plenty of streaky greasy bacon + eggs. Frankfurters + toms. Only had mushrooms on once a wk....Tea Time 7pm, Boiled, mashed or sometimes fries, with disgusting quick fried pork steaks. Meat always tough cheap cuts, and chicken. Fish not too bad. But for the people who say theres "plenty of choice", well all i can say is, they have had nothing to compare this hotel with! Do they also like swimming in dirty saltwater pools? As the one we had?!?!?
Cleaners did work hard, as did the restaurant staff.
My tip of the day is....Take plenty of money with you as just for a small bottle of water alone with your meal at the table is 2.75 Euro!...
Wish I had been warned before hand. Would have gone elswhere, as would so many other complainants in this hotel!

Just got back to the UK from a weeks stay at La Siesta, and what a great place to stay for a holiday. Everything about our stay was first class, the staff are friendly and knowledgable , the food was excellent with plenty of variety. OK the picky ones may say that there was a recurring theme around the choice of food, but with so much to choose from it is easy to have something different each evening. My only real gripe was that the food could have been hotter.
There was a maid service every day and the hotel was impeccably clean and tidy. The pool area is a fantastic area for children and adults alike, with entertainment for all.
The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the local area with Los Cristianos just a gentle stroll away, along the fantastic Atlantic lined coastline, and breathtaking scenery for your companion.
We are definately going back to Tenerife next year and we are DEFINATELY staying at La Siesta.

The hotel is very spacious, spotlessly clean and there is a realy nice ambience about the place.
However we were a little disappointed after our visit last year because:
The reception staff were slow and not very helpful (not only for us but we witnessed other guests getting the cold shoulder too)
The standard of the food has deteriorated noticably
and
the worst of all
They have stopped doing "Happy Hour" in the bar!!!!
That said I would still consider going back there sometime and would still reccommend it.

Can't fault this hotel at all.
Clean, comfortable, great food, good entertainment.
Great location in a quiet corner near the main entertainment centre.
The staff are friendly and very helpful - for example we were a group of 10 and the staff soon realised that we all wanted to dine together so after the first night our table was laid up ready to go - this without us asking.
The food was very good and you can have lunch instead of evening dinner so - if you want to - you can go out and sample some of the excellent restaurants in the area.
I actually liked the "no cash" policy with everything being charged to your room (even though my 2 daughters took liberties with my account!!) you just have to keep a tally of what you have so you don't get a nasty surprise on checkout.
We go to Tenerife every year in November and have already booked to go back in Nov 2010 so we'll see you there!!

i went to la Siesta hotel for a week and it was great, staff were really helpfull food was great i did'nt have a pool view tryed to upgrade when i turn up to the hotel fully booked, my room was facing the tennis court and every night between 9-10 you can here karoke and also see a sex shop lol, if you do go to this hotel make sure you take a hair dryer and a iron because although it does mention this in brouche you have to pay for a iron 15 euro and another 15 euro for a deposit, the hair dryer is not the best and for evening meal males have to wear full trouses, over all the location was brilliant lots to do and see............

what a lovely hotel very clean and staff are very helpful and chatty! my only quibbles were that havind paid extra for a superior room bear in mind i booked in jan 07 we arrived at the hotel to find theren were no superior rooms availble so they tried to compensate with 2 days on a full board basis instead of half board which hardly seems acceptible when we paid an extra of nearly £179 to have the superior room and the total of a an extra meal for 2 days would have come to 14 euros!!! and the food wssnt that great....very salty and wtch out how much you spend to as you dont pay for anything until the end of your stay then your faced with a huge bill on your last day!
weather was fantastic though! lorro parque is a must and if u can go the premium or gold tour then u get a nice 3 course meal and behind the scenes tour of the park!!
aqualand is very overated great for kids though!.... 49 euros for 2 adults and what your rep wont tell u is that u pay again when your in the park.... 4 euros a sunbed 6 euros a locker then 8 euros for a ring that u need for the majoirity of the water slides! resort itself was lovely great souvenier shops! veronicas strip is lively be prepared 2 be hassled in to each and every bar for drinks tho! the beach wasnt up 2 much was littered with rocks rubble and rubbish but u can take a bus to los cristianos about 10 mins away(1 euro 25 per adult) beautiful beach and lovely harbour with all the big cruise liners and fishing boats! all in all a nice holiday!

In our party was 2 adults
2 children, 6 and 2
Had a good holiday apart from the weather.
On arrival at the hotel checking in was very fast met by english reception.
On arrival of room was quite amazed as it was very clean and there was lots of things ie washing up liquid, cloths, bin bags, swiping brush, mop loads of extra blankets.
the only down side of the room is that me and my husband had 2 single beds and the children had a soft bed with a pull out bed underneath. There was a tv with bbc1 and ITV
We went half board. The food was ok but there wasnt much choice was younger children. The staff in there was fantastic and when asked for a dish for my younger daughter they were more than happy to obliged. We went half board last year in a sol hotel and there were loads of choice on a morning and evening. The only problem here the restaurent is very small and there are only so much cooked breakfasts you can have.
My son was in the kiddies club and he loved it there was always something going on. The only bad point I would say is if your child is under 7 dont take them to the Wii party after paying 15 euros then taking him found out he couldnt go on it as he was under 7!
Entertainment was gud but again you have to get down early for seat.
We didnt spend much time around the pool as its hard with a 2 year old. Though when we did the kids loved the splash pool. The beach is a short walk away but it is lovely we managed to get a spot of the front and the water is shallow.
We walked to the port one night was was nice. There is a restuarent which has great entertainment and good food and also a play area forgot the name its the one with kebabs outside.
Over great holiday would go again as its a bit commerical for us
THE ONLY POINT IS MAKE SURE YOU TAKE YOUR MOSSI SPRAY AS WE GOT BIT LOADS ON A NIGHT

My two friends and myself have just returned from a week in Las Americas in Tenerife. We stayed in La Siesta right in the center of the resort. The resort is lovely for families and middle aged and older people. Great entertainment in the little street bar cafes. Just a few metres from the beautiful beach. Shopping was convenient and very geared to the tourist. The hotel was fantastic. Lovely rooms with ample room for three adults, bathrooms were lovely. The whole hotel was cleaned everyday and the sheets were changed everyday if requested. The food was realy good with a great choice, even champagne for breakfast and caviar if that was your taste. The only downside was no kettle in the room. However they had a hire service but as they didn't supply cups with it, it was a little useless. If I was going back to tenerife I would like to stay in same place again

The hotel is very nice but more 3 star than 4.My wife has to use a wheel chair therefore we booked a disabled room. The room was clean and the bed sheets were changed often .Bathroom....the wheel-in shower was designed by someone who had never sat in a wheelchair, the walk-in cubicle was narrow but the wheelchair fitted in easily,no wall seat only a small stool in the back corner,it was safer to use a patio chair.Shower unit is on the right hand wall but no support rail on the left hand wall to assist getting out of wheelhair onto shower seat.Yes there is a support bar on back wall but useless unless you have 6ft.arms.
Patio...reasonable size but wheelchair user is stranded once out there because their is a deep window sliding rail in the entrance to get over.
Food...Breakfast is excellent fried, boiled or scrambled eggs ,bacon .potato croquettes, sausages etc also pancakes. Two toasters available and various types of bread and finally plenty of fruit jams and cereals.
Dinner...We found this very bland ,lacking in good well cooked meats ,often fatty, but plenty of fish.Soup selection was tasteless and watery.Tomato soup once in 11 nights. Choice of sweets was the smallest we have seen in any hotel and often repeated.
Sunbathing..All the sunbeds are chained up over night and unlocked at approx.09.30,plenty of people sitting around waiting from 09.00.
Pool Bar...Served very good lunchtime snacks.Drinks expensive, beer comes in half pint plastic glasses at 2.5 euro .Nice small bar across the road serves 1 pint for 2 euro.
TV.....If getting on in years and you like to watch a little TV at night Im sorry to say that there are only news channels and eurosport, most other places have all English channels but not La Siesta.
The Vulcano just up the road is a much better hotel but alas it's sun bathing area is cramped.
We are returning to Las Americas in 9 weeks time, but this time going A/I to the "Best Tenerife Hotel" and costing no more than I paid for half board at the La Siesta.
Stayed December 2011, travelled as a couple Value
