Just returned from a week in hotel...

Jun 2006, Mrs J Johnson

Just returned from a week in hotel siesta in Playa Las de Americas, it was better then we expected. The pool area was huge and well kept.
Food was varied and plentiful. Although our room didn’t overlook the pool we didn’t mind, as we were at the back of the hotel over looking the tennis courts, which was quite. This hotel is in a fabulous location, walking distance to the bars (patch) but quite enough not to hear any noise.
Only a few mins away from the beach and shops. I would recommend this hotel, and we will def be returning there.

We've have just returned and have to...

May 2006, Miss V Watkins

We've have just returned and have to say had a fantastic time. The Hotel was very clean and welcoming. Guests from all over including Italy, Germany, France, Holland, Spain and UK!

Poolside and bars was fantastic. The food was excellent- apart from the coffee and orange juice at breakfast (out of a machine) best bet is go to the poolside bar at 10am and have both fresh coffee and juice.
Reading the reviews below I also had a problem with my 2 year old unable to wear a t-shirt in the pool, I spoke to the manager and explained the situation and he was more than accommodating.
The rooms were very comfortable, clean and big, we upgraded to the superior rooms well worth the extra pennies, had a lovely balcony and peaceful view and over the pool.

All of the staff were great fun, really friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very clean hotel in the centre of Las...

May 2006, Mrs M Fisher

Very clean hotel in the centre of Las Americas and food good. Non smoking throughout even in bar areas which as non smokers we found excellent. Smoking allowed out on the terrace only. Lovely large salt water swimming pool with lots of sun beds, unfortunately usual complaint of people reserving them at the crack of dawn.
The negative side of such a central location was if you are given a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the street it is very noisy as well as the bar noise you have constant traffic noise and taxi rank noise until 4am etc. would pay extra and book a room overlooking the pool as this is at the back or request a room at the back for no extra (these however have no view but you at least can get some sleep.
Staff are good in restaurant but seem to be rushed on reception and were offhand as they do not have enough staff there. Time share touts are a nuisance in the resort but tend to target couples only so you need to walk separately to avoid them if a couple.
Some people from Hays travel had been overbooked whilst we were there but we were ok with Thomsons. Entertainment at night was usual hotel mediocre stuff but you are near enough to all the other hotels/bars if you don't like what’s on offer.

I have been to this Hotel 3 times...
9 / 10
Jan 2006, Ms L Turburville

I have been to this Hotel 3 times including this year. This year was the best by far. The Hotel has been completely refurbished, even the swimming pool has been upgraded. Our room was great although we didn't look over the pool the view was still great as we could see Mnt Tiede. The room was clean and a good size and the balacony was also a good size with plenty of space for storing lilos etc.
The food was lovely and the restaurant was spacious and cool as the weather was very hot. The entertainment is great for kids and the mini club took the kids through out the day for different activities.
The pool was fantastic especially for kids as a couple of years ago there was a steep incline which has now been removed also there were rocks in the pool which have also gone as I think they were dangerous.
The whole holiday was fantastic and there is plenty to do in the resort in the evening and also in the day time.
I would definitely recommend this hotel especially for families.

A fantastic newly refurb hotel,...

Sep 2005, Miss A Leishenring

A fantastic newly refurb hotel, spacious rooms exceptionally clean. Our room view was onto the pool areas which was really lovely and ideal for watching the evening entertainment from the balcony.
The entertainment staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptional with plenty to choose from ate there the whole 14 nights. They have a BBQ Canarian waiter service evening on a Thursday evening which I highly recommend that you book yourselves onto. They have a mini disco every evening for the little ones which lasts for around 30/45 minutes my little one really enjoyed this.
The only thing I'd have a little moan about was the strict poolside rules. I have a 19 months old we were told he wasn’t allowed to wear his t-shirt in the pool?? also they don’t allow inflatables so if your one for lying on a lilo in the swimming pool you want be allowed.
In summary the La Siesta is a really lovely hotel in a quiet areas of Playa De Las Americas, I highly recommend a visit to families and couples. Happy Holidaying!! ;o)

Location perfect, first day we had...
5 / 10
Mar 2004, Mrs B Attree

Location perfect, first day we had ants everywhere, in the bathroom bedroom, we asked to be moved and was given a nice room overlooking the pool. Room was dark and rather tatty, burn holes in the bedspreads, asked to have them changed, which they did straight away. Hotel needs refurbishing. Understand it is due for closure in May for refurbishment. Waiters very slow to clear breakfast plates etc from tables so did this ourselves. Food was ok but nothing to get excited about, rather poor for children as they had theme nights, which consisted of Italian food or Canarian food shame for those who didn’t like spaghetti or meat balls or even fish. Not a lot to choose from, good job it was only a week we went for otherwise it would have been boring food wise for two weeks. Same thing around pool area, usual people putting towels on sunbeds 8am and then not returning till after lunch, this was really annoying, one pool was heated which most people used but the other was cold and empty, rather a waste of space. Staff very nice and friendly. The resort is my favourite plenty of life and constantly putting money back into the resort. We will return next year to La Siesta when it is refurbished.

The La Siesta (Occidental Allegro la...
8 / 10
Dec 2003, Miss S Harrison

The La Siesta (Occidental Allegro la Siesta) is in a perfect location in Playa de las Americas. Only a short walk to the beach and with supermarkets, restaurants, banks and souvenir shops all nearby.
The rooms were excellent value for money. Even though they are sold as twin rooms, they are more like studio suites with a living area and balcony. The bathroom was large, if not a little dark, but there was always hot water available and towels were changed daily.
Food was excellent, with a really wide variety of meals and breakfast plates. There was daily entertainment including evening shows in the bar.
The pool area looked clean and well kept, and there were plenty of sunbeds free. Internet access is available at a small charge in reception.
There are roadworks outside the hotel at the moment (December 2003) as they are building a new road through Las Americas, but we did not find this a disturbance at all and still throughly enjoyed our time at the La Siesta.
